Chatos win big at dance competition

The La Porte High School Chatos Dance Team on March 4 was named the Grand Champions and Best in Category in every dance routine at the Showtime International Dance Competition, which was their final contest of 2023. Team Awards received included Sweepstakes, Judge’s Award, Grand Champions (the Chatos were the highest scoring team), Best in Category for every dance performed and the WOW Factor Award for their Team Jazz dance.

The Social Officers earned First Place Sweepstakes/Judge’s Award for their performance.

Dance Officers earned Grand Champion, Sweepstakes, Best in Category for every dance and the Applause Award for their Contemporary Dance.

Jeannine Watson is the Chatos director; Breeann Patek is the assistant director.

Winter Guard competes at state!

The La Porte High School Varsity Winter Guard competed at the TCGC State Winter Guard Championships at Reed Arena in College Station on April 1. They received ninth place in their class. This is the second consecutive year the guard has advanced to the state competition.
