Prior to practicing real estate, Melissa worked in sales for a local and national company. During this time, she was able to start investing in real estate and that is when she found her passion. After deciding to pursue real estate, she realized the value of understanding the loan process as well as the sales process. She worked as a mortgage broker for over 3 years before obtaining her real estate license in 2005. She has been awarded Rookie of the Year, Growth Achievement and was honored with the Spirit Award for her community mindedness. In her free time, she can be found riding her bike on the trails or roads surrounding Durango. She has been a volunteer coach for DEVO, Durango’s junior development mountain bike organization, has volunteered with Trails 2000, Fort Lewis College and was on The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic organizing committee, which her father and uncle started, and organizes fundraisers for various organizations. Aside from her local interests and commitments, Melissa travels around the country supporting other non-profit organizations and helping others build their businesses through coaching and training.
