She and her family discovered Durango in the mid 80’s, and as a result, built a second home retreat, and made a full time move to our beautiful community in 2000. Doug continued development in Durango, and Annie went to work with Purgatory Resort as their Director of Community Relations. She and Doug have four daughters, two who live in Texas, one in Denver and one in Telluride. As a result of their locations, Doug and Annie spend time visiting Austin and Fort Worth, as well as frequent trips to their 2nd homes and family in Denver and Scottsdale. Annie is fortunate to call her coworkers at Sotheby’s Realty “family,” as she has worked with many of them for years in real estate endeavors and fun projects in Durango. Besides her most favorite pastime of being a “mom, mom-in-law and “GrAnnie,” she is very active in the community and is especially passionate about Music in the Mountains. She also enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking, entertaining and loves interior design, staging and architecture. Julie Houston has worked in the Real Estate industry in some form or another since the 70’s. She graduated with a BA in Education from Michigan State University. She went on to receive her Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University. Julie and her husband came to Durango the first time in 1992 to develop The Lightner Creek Inn, a 10 room Bed and Breakfast that is still operating today. After selling the Inn in 1999, Julie and Richard went to Vancouver, Canada to build a 48’ Ocean Passagemaker that Richard designed with the help of a naval architect. Once built, they lived aboard and cruised Alaska and the Pacific West Coast until returning to Durango 8 years later where they built their final home. Kayden Hyson is a fourth-generation resident, born and raised in Durango. Kayden graduated from Durango High School and attended Fort Lewis College where he received a Bachelor’s in Business. As a young child, Kayden lived in Southern California where his father, Cole, played professional baseball for the San Diego Padres Organization. When the family returned home to Durango, Kayden grew up on his grandparents’ cattle ranch just south of Lemon Dam where he learned the principles of hard work and determination. At a young age, Kayden quickly inherited the habits of being a contributing member of the Durango community. Kayden has been involved with community organizations such as youth baseball, Durango Area Association of Realtors®, Mercy Health Foundation and many other programs he is passionate about. Currently, Kayden sits as the chairman of the Durango Areas Association of Realtors® Technology and Communications Committee. The committee is designed to support home buyers, sellers and Realtors® on the evolving environment of the tech-fueled real estate industry. Kayden’s business focus includes residential homes, townhouses, condominiums, luxury homes and homesite, farm and ranch, residential new construction and development. In her free time, she can be found riding her bike or horse on the trails or roads surrounding Durango. She is a volunteer coach for DEVO, Durango’s junior development mountain bike organization, has volunteered with Trails 2000, is on The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic organizing committee, which her father and uncle started, and organizes fundraisers for various organizations. Chris Wherry was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. At the age of 11, Chris began his first career when he fell in love with the sport of road cycling. His passion for the sport grew quickly and he ultimately spent 13 years as a top professional. His biggest win came in 2005 when he won the U.S. Professional Road Race Championships. That same year he moved to Durango after discovering the wonderful lifestyle in Southwest Colorado. Since retiring from racing in 2009, he has spent two years as a team director, traveling the world with one of the top professional cycling teams. Chris’ drive and determination as a cyclist has helped transition him to life off the bike. His attention to detail, personal and organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to almost any situation, make Chris the ideal person to handle an effective real estate transaction. Having always been a part of successful teams, it was only natural for him to join with his wife Melissa, to create an excellent new team. Together they will help make your real estate goals a reality. Nicole Perino moved to Durango with her family as a teenager. She quickly fell in love with the community and the bountiful recreation opportunities. After graduating from DHS, Nicole attended the University of Colorado, Boulder where she graduated with BA in International Affairs. She worked in retail management and in sales for a national builder in the Denver area until 2006 when she returned to Durango.
