Our expertise applied:

Drilling the deepest well in North West Europe Project: Ultra-deepwater exploration well Background: This project was the first ultra-deepwater exploration well to be drilled by any operator in NW Europe. The well was to be drilled in a remote location without any existing infrastructure, and with limited and distant offset well data. We provided a full drilling department responsible for project management, contracts and procurement support throughout the project and supervision of well operations. We also managed the pre-drilling site survey and site investigation. Results: We delivered a competent ultra-deepwater well design philosophy, using limited offset well data and high uncertainty regarding PPFG, in a very short time frame. The well was delivered with Zero lost time incidents (LTIs), injuries or harm to personnel. The project was delivered to the required timeline in summer 2017 and with effective delivery of all regulatory requirements prior to well spud.

Abandonment and Decommissioning Study – Identified up to $60 million in potential savings Project: Decommissioning project Background: We conducted a conceptual study for the abandonment of 5 subsea wells offshore Mauritania. This included a full conceptual well abandonment design as well as a conceptual cost analysis for completing the programme. Results: Despite the challenge of delivering the extensive work scope to a tight 6 week deadline, all the work was completed and the project was delivered on budget. We identified upto $60 million potential savings by identifying the opportunity to leave equipment in situ, with an associated saving of approximately $9.75 million in operational time across the 15 wells, and highlighted ‘temporarily suspending’ the well when moving to full abandonment was more cost effective, a potential saving of $35-54 million.

Achieving time and cost savings through enhanced well delivery process management Project: Offshore Vietnam, Project Management Background: The client required the development of a bespoke set of procedures and policies for the drilling of two deepwater wells, that would meet the requirements and obligations with the Vietnamese governing body legislations. By its very nature, the exploration project had among the highest operational risks due to location, supply chain and logistics. The campaign had many firsts for Vietnam, including; first time the Wellhead was allowed to be left in place = first deepest depth well and first gas discovery deepwater, Vietnam. Results: All operations were conducted with zero incidents, zero accidents, and zero environmental issues. Only three hours’ nonproductive time of the drilling rig recorded in 68 days of operations on first well. There was a <6% NPT over the whole campaign duration with no delays over logistics, materials or personnel.
