President's Letter Hey Lake Ridge Key Clubbers! Hope y’alls first couple weeks of school went well. I don’t know about everyone else but I was most excited for our first club meeting! Getting to meet new faces as well as beautiful old ones was great news! So a couple things to clear up now that Key Club is back into full swing. Regarding membership, even if you weren’t able to make it to the first meeting you can still join! Membership forms and dues are due on October 3rd to Mrs. San Miguel, only before and after school, or at a club meeting. The dues are $25, which includes our club t-shirts. Regarding hours logs; any volunteering from the month of May and during the summer can still count this year’s hours! Make sure you give or email a copy of your hours log to your respective class representative. To ensure we are all keeping our commitment to the purpose of Key Club, members will have to have a certain amount of hours by the end of the semesters. I know the beginning of school can be super confusing with new classes and new Key Club info, but you can always approach me or the other officers with any questions!
Yours in Service, Diana Fernandez

BALANCING A BUSY SCHEDULE BY: KAYLA MOORE, DIVISION 39S
As a senior in high school involved in not only Key Club, but as well as band, National Honor Society, and other academic curriculars, I’ve had my handful of trial and error in figuring out how to balance everything and give the most time I can to every single activity. Although it can be difficult to do so much during school and still make time to focus on your classes, extracurriculars such as Key Club are the the type of things that highlight your high school career. It is where you make the biggest impact, and make the biggest significance to the school as a student. My first piece of advice, is to organize! Having tools such as a planner or calendar to write down upcoming events and important dates you need to remember is a big help. As humans, we tend to forget a lot. So if you remain organized by keeping up with dates and remembering things beforehand, it’s a big help in getting stuff done. Just remember to check your planner everyday, to make sure you are not forgetting something you might have thought that you did not. Secondly, you should always prioritize! Get stuff done that is the most important to you personally, and branch out to other objectives once the important things are finished. And never, ever, ever push your school work to the side. Your education is always the most important! Once you have your homework

finished, you can work on things important towards your Key Club organization, and other organizations you might be a part of. It’s good to prioritize the most significant things you need to get done, so if you’re unable to finish something, at least you’ll have the stuff that’ll affect you the most already accomplished. Plus, there’s always time the next day! It is never the end of you the world if you don’t complete something. It is just important that you always put effort in and always try to! Lastly, to help juggle everything on your plate, you should never forget to take some time to yourself to relax. When you’re working, make sure to take small breaks, or throw on a face mask or something and eat a few snacks. Your personal health is always the most important, and it’s never healthy to get too stressed. We do not need any of those stress pimples! So remember: organize, prioritize, and relax! And if you do those steps (in that order), you’ll definitely get everything done!

EDITOR
Hey Key Club! The first three weeks of school flew by fast and everyone is finally settling into the groove of things. First and foremost, welcome all new freshmen eagles and Key Club recruits! I can assure you that the Lake Ridge Key Club community is a great way to open the door to many opportunities and make great memories with amazing people. Our newsletter is one of the ways we document the events we had for the past month and serves as a fun recap to look back on. Usually, we have 2 articles embedded in our newsletter, written by some of our officers-- but get this -- you as a member also have an opportunity to submit articles to be featured in our newsletter! Cool right? it just goes to show how club interactions are very much integral to the success of our club; from member to board. As you can tell, we already have tons of new events for the new school yea! This means various types of events that you can choose from to fit your schedule. Looking forward to a great year with you! With Love, Gilliana Tawaran
