Looking Ahead

FEATURED ARTICLE BY ELIZABETH MINGLE

Happy September everyone! I hope all of you are staying safe through these hard times. Despite the occurring pandemic, Key Club persists, creating new opportunities for individuals to work together and volunteer in their community whether it be virtually or in person. Looking forward, I am very excited to be more involved in new and existing volunteer opportunities this year. Here are the main reasons why! Before I became a member of Key Club I wasn’t volunteering often. But joining Key Club gave me the chance to do more. As the holidays arrive, it fills me with joy to know that there will be opportunities for me to be involved in festive occasions. Although we face a time where chances to volunteer are limited, this doesn’t interrupt my desire to participate in events. The holidays, especially Christmas, are a great motivator when it comes to volunteering. This giving holiday encourages people to give back.

12

I hope Key Club gives its members the chance to take part in festive events during the seasons.

Another reason I look forward to offering my time this year is because I love the satisfaction of making someone smile or giving aid to someone in need. Taking the time out of your day or even week can infuse volunteers with much delight. I recall an event where I was asked to assist children with a game at a Boo Bash In Mansfield during Halloween. To see them smile especially when they received their “treat” warmed my heart.

We as members of Key Club are always interacting with others. This is a final point in why I am ecstatic to participate in volunteer occasions this year. These opportunities allow me to form relationships with people and work with other persons in and outside of Key Club. I am glad to know that this society can bring people together. With the continuation of existing volunteer opportunities and new ones this is a primary reason that brightens my hopes for what we have planned. Chances to engage with the community are in store for many. Just you wait!
