Did you know? The Lee’s Summit R-7’s 2011 Teacher of the Year Kristen Merrell went on to win Missouri Teacher of the Year! A Lee’s Summit Teacher has won this prestigious award two out of the last three years.

Cindy Miller has been the director of Columbia College-Kansas City since December of 2008. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

In April, John Knox Village resident, Flora Guarino, a holocaust survivor, uses a map to show fifth graders at Underwood Elementary where she and her family lived in Poland before being displaced by the Russians and taken to a work camp in 1945. She and her family eventually escaped into post-war Germany.
