Today, the site features the only Civil War Museum in Jackson County. This National Cemetery is one of the few sites where the soldiers who perished there are buried on the spot where the battle raged. Parks range in size and include a variety of sports venues, trails, an 18-hole disc golf course, a state of the art amphitheater and more. Throughout Lee’s Summit, one can find playgrounds, sand volleyball, skate parks, bike trails, dog parks and much more. The center provides a gym used for basketball, volleyball, pickleball and group fitness, as well as racquetball courts, an indoor aquatics area with a lap pool, leisure pool and hot tub, a personal training studio, free weights, circuit weights, cardio equipment, aerobics studio, an elevated walking track and a childcare area. LEGACY PARK Legacy Park covers 692 acres and includes 12 soccer fields, 16 baseball fields, eight softball fields and three football fields. The park also includes three shelters, Legacy Park Community Center, 18-hole disc golf course, amphitheater, inclusive playground, 4.7-mile trail and a fishing dock for the 22-acre lake. The lake can be used for non-motorized boating, fishing, and paddle boarding. Visit Legacy Park Community Center for free canoe and paddle board rentals. LSParks.net – 816.969.1500 LEA McKEIGHAN PARK The renovated park on the south side of Chipman Road features a .6-mile trail, Jupiter XXL Jungle Gym, and Speedway Zip Line. The park to the north of Chipman holds its own with a skate park, four lighted sand volleyball courts, and new additions underway now. DOG PARKS Dogwood Park features a spray ground to cool dogs off, a comfort station for the humans, and 5 acres for canines to run around a .3-mile paved trail. Happy Tails Dog Park continues to be popular with patrons of both the fourlegged and two-legged variety! It includes a human playground just outside the enclosed area, a .3-mile paved trail, an agility area, and a comfort station. SPLASH PARK AT MILLER J. FIELDS Miller J. Fields Park boasts the popular Splashpad to cool down during the summer months with some water fun. The park also includes two large playgrounds, three ball diamonds, and two shelters.

ARCHERY - LANDAHL PARK The Landahl Archery Range hosts several state and national tournaments and consists of scenic shooting trails nestled into the woods with abundant wildlife. A wheelchair accessible practice range also is available. BEACHES AND LAKES Experience the fun of playing in the sand, building a sand castle or splashing around in the water right here in Jackson County. Longview Lake and Blue Springs Lake offer beach facilities staffed by highly trained lifeguards creating a safe and fun environment for visitors of all ages. CAMPGROUNDS Dating back to 1922, Jackson County has one of the oldest Parks departments in the U.S. Over the years, the park has expanded to 21,000 acres featuring 238 camp sites with campers from around the country. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with attendants at each site. 816.503.4805 EQUESTRIAN PARK Located on the south end of the Longview Lake, the Longview Equestrian Park is a multi-use area spread across 54 acres, perfect for riding, jumping and showing. The site hosts weekend saddle and carriage competitions and is equipped with a lighted show area, cross country course, carriage obstacle course and stalls for 115 horses. 816.503.4805 MARINAS AND BOAT RENTAL Jackson County Parks boasts three lakes offering almost any water sport. Longview Lake and Blue Springs Lake have full-service marinas, including pontoon rental. Lake Jacomo Marina offers pontoon boats, fishing boats, paddle boats, kayaks and canoes, as well as all the gear you will need to make your day at the lake complete. Fleming Park features a paved airstrip, while Longview Lake Park and Blue River Parkway offer grass airstrips. All airfields are open to the public and supported by local flying clubs. For the radio-controlled boating enthusiast, Alex George Lake is open to R.C. boating May through October.
