Member recognition highlights annual gala Each year at the Chamber Annual Gala, recognition is given to Chamber members who donate several hours of their time and energy for the good of the organization. These members attend as many events as possible, are always available when needed and include the Chamber as a part of their daily lives. Awards presented at the annual gala include Ambassador of the Year, Steve Gouldsmith* New Member of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. Bob Glaser, Summit Bank of Kansas City, was selected as the Ambassador of the Year. In 2011, Bob recruited 23 new members; and since he began recruiting in 2007, he has brought in 130 new members. He doesn’t just recruit new members-he takes each new member under his wing and mentors them. Bob has attended the majority of events throughout the year, served as emcee at ribbon cuttings, served as chair of the Ambassador Committee and helped

with Operation Thank You and the VIP Reception. He truly exemplifies the meaning of the word ambassador. This is Bob’s final year to win this award, and from now on the award will be given in his honor. Jon Garlow, Wells Fargo Advisors, was awarded the Steve Gouldsmith New Member of the Year Award. Jon has been very active on the Ambassador Committee since joining the chamber and has assisted in recruiting new members. He is also active with the Chamber’s Young Professionals, attending events as well as donating for their community service projects. Jon attends many of the Chamber functions and has made quite a splash in his first year with the organization. Phyllis Balagna, Steppin’ Out - The Studio, was selected as Volunteer of the Year. Phyllis has served as chair of the 2011 Education Committee and was the
