Lee’s Summit Chamber Supports No Tax Increase Public Safety Bond The Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has endorsed and offered their support for the City of Lee’s Summit’s No-Tax Rate Increase Bond issue, which will be on the August 6, 2019 ballot. We believe this bond will provide the necessary upgrades to our emergency services and ensure the Lee’s Summit community is properly prepared to address all public safety concerns.
YES
If passed, these bond dollars will provide two new fire stations and associated apparatus for fire stations four and five, the acquisition and installation of new police automobile video systems and body cameras, renovations and improvements to enhance facility security and customer service. These improvements will increase operational efficiency in the police and courts municipal building and will allow for new infrastructure to renovate, improve and upgrade the City’s wireless and fiber optic communications network among City Hall and other City facilities. “The safety of our community remains a top priority,” said Chamber President Blake Fry. “The enhancements that would come to fruition with this bond would be a huge step in the right direction for keeping our infrastructure up to date with current technology to allow our police and fire departments to operate more efficiently.” The Lee’s Summit Chamber supports the bond issues put forth by the City of Lee’s Summit and we encourage the citizens of Lee’s Summit and our business community to show their support for public safety by voting yes on this bond on August 6.

Now that we are at the halfway point, what does the economy look like? It may be a return to mediocrity given that the rapid growth is fading a bit, but recession seems pretty distant. The big issue is the status of the global economy and its impact on the US economy and also politics rearing its ugly head.
What is the big deal with diversity and inclusion? Why we should care? What should we consider to address the lack of diversity in certain professions?
Reservations are required and can be made at LSchamber.com. Deadline is noon Monday, July 15. Sponsor: Truman Heartland Community Foundation
SVP Executive Director of Diversity & Inclusion Vanessa Sims will address these questions and much more as we take a deep dive into the changing landscape of the business community and who is making up our workforce Sponsor: Edward Jones–Office of Joseph Hyde, Financial Advisor
