Lee’s Summit Chamber Mid-Year Update Over the past few years the Lee’s Summit Chamber membership base has grown to be one of the largest in the metropolitan area. In fact, we were pleased to recently learn that we maintained our rank of the third largest chamber by the Kansas City Business Journal. Here at the Chamber we strive to keep the Lee’s Summit business community at the top by improving and implementing new programs and benefits for our members.

As the champion of emerging businesses, the Chamber provides an array of programs and events for our nearly 1,000 members to increase the visibility of their business. We provide opportunities to meet and work with the best and brightest leaders in business, government and education. So far this year the Chamber has
successfully added new activities to our already busy calendars. During the spring of 2012, the Chamber took its first organized trip to Washington D.C. Our delegation spent time meeting with senators and representatives and engaging with US Chamber officials. One month later, over 60 members joined us as we took our annual train trip to Jefferson City to meet with our State elected officials. Still to come in 2012, we look forward to rolling out our entrepreneurial platform to grow and foster new businesses in Lee’s Summit. Equity Bank Plans Large Merger with Lee’s Summit-based Bank Equity Bank and Lee’s Summit-based First Community Bank plan to merge, creating a $1.3 billion-asset institution. The merger, announced early in June and pending regulatory approval, would take place early in the first quarter. The combined entity will have 30 branch offices throughout Kansas and Missouri.
Although Equity Bank is the slightly smaller entity, with $594.55 million in assets as of March 31, both banks will operate under the Equity Bank name.

The Value of Chamber Membership We have been members of the Lee’s Summit Chamber since 1990. Shortly after we joined, we connected with Lee’s Summit R-7 School District regarding their elevators. Lee’s Summit and the School District have grown exponentially. We have installed over 10 new elevators in their new schools and presently service 26 units. This is one of our larger service contracts in the Metro area. We work hard to keep them satisfied.
