Concerned about how to approach the COVID-19 vaccine with your staff? What rights do you have as an employer or as an employee? Join us from 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. on Friday, February 19, for a conversation on how to approach the COVID-19 vaccine in your business. Lauren Sobaski, a labor and employment attorney with Fisher Phillips LLP, will discuss whether employers can require vaccinations, the EEOC’s guidance regarding vaccines, ADA and other legal considerations, ongoing screening protocols in the workplace, and how to handle differing employee relations issues as it relates to vaccines and other COVID related matters in the workplace.

Committees meet once a month, in many cases virtually or with a hybrid model, and anyone can join! Consider the variety of committees to serve on, below, and contact the Chamber directly for more information. Ambassador Committee Chair: Bev Howe Objective: lead efforts to increase membership by recruiting new members; foster participation by mentoring the new members Business Development Council Chair: Jeffrey Williams Objective: identify and deliver educational and training opportunities for Chamber businesses Education Committee Chair: Rick Smetana Objective: promote business partnerships with the education community and host programs including scholarships, teacher breakfast, Ready to Read, etc.

Membership Committee Chair: Sidra Connell Objective: lead retention efforts and increase member involvement; make contact calls to existing members

Annual Gala Task Force Chair: Sarah Barnaby Objective: organize theme, entertainment and auction for the Annual Gala held in January

Military Affairs Committee Chair: Joey Zarrillo Objective: disseminate valuable information to community members so they can better understand the impact of the base – both economically and emotionally

Golf Task Force Chair: Drew Reynolds Objective: coordinate the annual Chamber Golf Classic tournament held each year during the summer

Oktoberfest Committee Chair: Connie Smith Objective: plan the annual festival & fundraiser, scheduled for the last full weekend in September

Governmental Relations Committee Chair: Rodney Loesch Objective: study legislative issues of state and local interest to business and prepare legislative priorities annually

Visitors Council Chair: Jon Ellis Objective: identify and develop Lee’s Summit’s unique features for tourism development and marketing

Health & Human Services Committee Chair: Rachelle Lemon Objective: create opportunities to support health care services and provide educational health care programming

Young Professionals Committee Chair: Tricia Sims Objective: plan events and activities for Chamber members ages 21 to 35 focusing on professional development

Holiday Reception Task Force Chair: Megan Breedlove Objective: organize the annual Holiday Reception held the first Wednesday in December
