Members Making Waves Ron Baker named Saint Luke’s East Hospital CEO Saint Luke’s Health System announces the appointment of Ron Baker as CEO of Saint Luke’s East Hospital. Baker, currently CEO of Cushing Memorial Hospital in Leavenworth, Kan. – a member of Saint Luke’s Health System – will begin the position in Lee’s Summit in early May.

Tourist Attractions & Parks Magazine and Foundations Entertainment University teamed up to present the “Excellence in Family Entertainment Center Awards” during the 2012 Amusement Expo in Las Vegas on March 15.

Chamber Awards Four $1,000 Scholarships to High School Seniors Each year the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee awards $1,000 scholarships to four high school seniors. One scholarship winner is selected from each of the three Lee’s Summit high schools, and one is selected from a school outside of the district. One parent of each recipient must be a full-time employee of a Chamber member business. Congratulations to the following students who received scholarships in 2012:

Twelve R-7 Teachers Receive Chamber of Commerce Excellence In Teaching Awards Twelve Lee’s Summit R-7 School District educators were recently named Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce Excellence In Teaching award winners. Recognized teachers are Cheryl Anderson, Summit Ridge Academy; Jeanie Cook, Pleasant Lea Elementary; Rebecca Earley, Highland Park Elementary; Kelly Gillespie, Prairie View Elementary and Meadow Lane Elementary; Susie Johnson, Prairie View Elementary; Cathy Nalivaiko, Bernard Campbell Middle School; Kathe Redel, Woodland Elementary; Laura Tacke, Summit Pointe Elementary; Janie Taylor, Highland Park Elementary; Sara Taylor, Summit Lakes Middle School; Suzanne Wiley, Pleasant Lea Middle School; and Pam Wining, Trailridge Elementary.
