Let Us Help Package Your 2017 Marketing Dollars

As you plan for the upcoming year, consider the opportunities the Lee’s Summit Chamber provides you to promote your business. Chamber partnerships are a unique marketing tool reaching both Chamber member businesses, as well as the local community. Your business automatically gains the publicity and brand recognition you need, in a positive and receptive environment. Business and community leaders recognize and appreciate companies that provide knowledge and contacts. The Chamber offers a limited number of partnerships, allowing you to combine all or some of our events into one package. We have created a menu from which you can customize your partnership. If you are already planning to participate in some of our events, a partnership package can save you money – and gives you great exposure in our weekly e-blasts, Chamber Link, website, signage and more. Keep an eye on your mailbox and e-mail for expanded information regarding our three packages for your consideration. The deadline to sign up for a 2017 Partnership Package is Friday, December 9, 2016. You can pay in 2016, or request to be invoiced after the first of the year, depending on your preference. If you have any questions, please call or email me at your convenience at 816.524.2424 or tarbeiter@lschamber.com.

Yours Truly, Tim Arbeiter, CEcD | President Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce

You’re in enough pain to get yourself to an ER. So you walk in, you give your name, you sit and... you wait. And wait. Sometimes for hours. Does that make sense to you? If it’s enough of an emergency to go to an ER, it’s enough of an emergency to be seen by a health professional quickly. Fortunately, our ER takes your time seriously. It’s the least we can do. After all, it is an emergency.

The event is free and open to the public. The Community Health Fair consists of health information and free health screenings, including depression, body fat, blood pressure, muscle tension, bone density and visual acuity from area hospitals and health-focused businesses. In addition to the Health Fair, the Holly Festival Craft Fair runs throughout the day, raising funds for the Lee’s Summit DARE program. The festival features more than 100 craft vendors, concessions, bake sales, door prizes and a gift basket auction. Make a day of it and knock some gifts off of your holiday shopping list while you get your health in check for the upcoming festivities.

Chamber Endorses No-Tax Increase Bond for Public Safety Improvements The Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors unanimously endorsed the No-Tax Increase General Obligation Bond for public safety improvements at its September 21 board meeting. It was determined by leaders serving on the board that an endorsement was in the long-term best interest of the community. Voters heading to the polls on November 8 are asked to vote in favor of the General Obligation Bond. The No-Tax Increase General Obligation Bond addresses three important public safety enhancements the Chamber feels are important to keeping our community safe, the business community thriving and most importantly, maintaining a high quality of life for citizens. The vote is made possible by the fiscal responsibility of city leaders, with financial forecasts determining that additional debt can be issued to finance needed projects using existing revenue. The city is asking citizens of Lee’s Summit to approve the reissue of the General Obligation Bond to pay for the initiatives listed below:

• A radio system digital upgrade, which will enhance

the current communications system to digital technology, as well as connect Lee’s Summit to regional emergency management systems and personnel. Currently, communication with neighboring

jurisdictions requires a third party connection to transfer messages, thereby increasing wait times for emergency assistance;

• Replacement of fire station #3 which, by building

assessments, is outdated and becoming obsolete. The facility also lacks space for personnel, equipment and Lee’s Summit ambulance services;

• The replacement and improvement of the fire

equipment and breathing apparatus for the fire department. The equipment is currently 10 years old and does not meeting industry standards.

“The Chamber Board applauds city leaders for taking the initiative to ask voters for the bond reissue with its core emphasis to substantially improve public safety efforts,” said Chamber President Tim Arbeiter. “A significant factor of our future growth lies in public safety and ensuring our first responders are well equipped.” The Lee’s Summit Chamber encourages the business community and citizens of Lee’s Summit to vote “yes” on the reissuance of the General Obligation Bond to fund these invaluable community assets.
