Catalyst Captures State Communications Award The Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce won the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Missouri “2017 Award of Excellence” in the special publications category. This award was given during the recent CCEM conference held in Branson, Mo. September 19-21. The award-winning publication, Catalyst, is the Chamber’s quarterly business magazine. “It’s always nice to receive validation from your peers that the work you and your staff are doing is excellent,” said Chamber President Tim Arbeiter. The magazine has been a great tool for the Chamber to give members additional exposure opportunities and recognition, while informing the businesses and residents of Lee’s Summit about upcoming developments, new businesses and more. The publication is direct-mailed to all Chamber members, as well as businesses licensed by the City of Lee’s Summit. For information about being a part of the next issue of Catalyst, contact Heather Thompson at hthompson@lschamber.com.

Is Your Listing Correct? Make sure to check your information. It’s time to make sure your membership listing is correct as the Chamber begins the process of compiling information for the 2018 Membership Directory. You are strongly encouraged to review the verification form, note any changes and return it to the Chamber office. As with any business listing, it is extremely important that your information is accurate. This is also a great time to review the list of categories to make sure your business is listed under the ones that best describe your business. Member Events & News continued... Community Blood Drive Set for Monday, October 2 at City Hall The City of Lee’s Summit, in partnership with the Community Blood Center, will host a community blood drive on Monday, October 2 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Howard Conference Room (second floor) of Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green Street. Visit esavealifenow.org and enter the code “cityleessummit” to sign-up for the “Caring…It’s in our Blood” event. This is the community’s opportunity to help collect blood to help supply local hospitals, including those in Lee’s Summit, to help save lives. The City’s goal is to collect 60 units of blood during the event. Help us reach our goal!

The requirements to donate blood are few. You must be in good health, weigh a minimum of 115 pounds and be at least 17 years of age (16 yrs. with parental consent). It is also important to drink plenty of fluids and eat a good meal prior to your blood donation, which will take less than an hour. While walk-ups are permitted on the day of the blood drive, it is preferred that you sign-up in advance. Doing so will prevent waiting long periods of time to donate blood. For more information, contact organizer Stephanie Walters at (816) 969-1870.

You’re in enough pain to get yourself to an ER. So you walk in, you give your name, you sit and... you wait. And wait. Sometimes for hours. Does that make sense to you? If it’s enough of an emergency to go to an ER, it’s enough of an emergency to be seen by a health professional quickly. Fortunately, our ER takes your time seriously. It’s the least we can do. After all, it is an emergency.
