This year’s Chamber Oktoberfest runs from 5–11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22 and continues 10 a.m.–11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23. The carnival remains open from noon–4 p.m. Sunday for wristband day–$24 all you can ride! There’s no cost to enter the festival. Oktoberfest would not be complete without the excitement and entertainment in the Biergarten. The Biergarten is the place to hang out for food, music, dancing and a lot of crazy fun! German meals are served in the Biergarten from 5–9 p.m. Friday and 4–9 p.m. Saturday and are accompanied by the sights and sounds of German music and dancing. Also in the Biergarten is the People’s Choice Home Brew Tasting sponsored by Grains & Taps. From noon-3 p.m. Saturday, guests can fill their tasting glasses with samples of home brewers’ best creations and vote for their favorites. Visit LSoktoberfest.com to purchase tasting glasses (limited availability). At 3 p.m. in the Biergarten, attendees test their strength in the Sam Adams Stein Hoisting Competition. Competitors must hoist a one-liter stein at arm’s length without spilling and using only one arm. One female and one male will be crowned and win prizes. Back for another year is the celebrity Grape Stomp, featuring guest emcee Codie Allen, 106.5 The Wolf. Head to the Biergarten at 6 p.m. Friday to watch as stompers race to be the first to smash the most grapes using only their feet.

Also back by popular demand is the Rootbiergarten. Kids 12 and under can enjoy their own bubbly beverage at no cost, thanks to our sponsor U.S. Bank. The juried Arts and Crafts Fair features local and regional artists displaying unique handmade crafts, collectibles and original works of art. Vendors showcase their talents for the public to view and purchase. You’re sure to find a homemade gem there. Think you have the cutest kid around?
