LEA McKEIGHAN PARK The renovated park on the south side features a .6 mile walking trail, fishing pond, Jupiter XXL Jungle Gym, Spaceball and Speedway Zip Line. The north side holds its own with a skate park, two ball diamonds and four lighted sand volleyball courts. DOG PARKS Dogwood Park is the newest off-leash dog park, featuring a splash pad for dogs to cool off, a comfort station for their owners and five acres for dogs to run around a .3 mile paved trail. In addition, Happy Tails Park continues to be popular with four-legged and two-legged patrons. It includes a human playground just outside the enclosed area, a .3 mile paved trail, an agility area and a comfort station.

Jackson County Parks + Recreation jacksongov.org/recreation – 816.503.4800 ARCHERY The Landahl Archery Range hosts several state and national tournaments and consists of scenic shooting trails nestled into the woods with abundant wildlife. A wheelchair accessible practice range also is available. CAMPGROUNDS Dating back to 1922, Jackson County has one of the oldest Parks departments in the U.S. Over the years, the park has expanded to 21,000 acres featuring 238 camp sites with campers from around the country. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with attendants at each site. EQUESTRIAN PARK Located on the south end of Longview Lake, the Longview Equestrian Park is a multiuse area spread across 54 acres, perfect for riding, jumping and showing. The site hosts weekend saddle and carriage competitions and is equipped with a lighted show area, cross country course, carriage obstacle course and stalls for 115 horses.

Welcome one and all to the season of sizzling bratwursts and sounds of oom-pah! Transport yourself to the heart of Munich with all the excitement of this wundervoll fall festival in downtown Lee’s Summit. Grab your lederhosen and dirndl and head to downtown Lee’s Summit to join 70,000 festival goers for this annual fall festival. Enjoy Kids Street, arts and crafts, German meals, beer and brat tents, the Biergarten, carnival, the Sportzelt, live entertainment, contests, a Rootbiergarten, home brew tasting, German dancers and much more. There’s no cost to attend the festival.

Take a spin at the carnival Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth and cost $1 each, 20 for $15, 40 for $28 or 80 for $50. Each ride takes 3-4 tickets. While the festival is only open Friday and Saturday, the carnival remains open from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25 for wristband day–$22 per person, all you can ride!

SAM ADAMS STEIN HOISTING COMPETITION Head to the Biergarten at 3 p.m. Saturday and test your strength. The object of the game is to hoist a full liter stein longer than anyone else. Competitors must use only one hand, and steins must be held at arm’s length without spilling. One male and one female winner will be crowned and will receive an etched Sam Adams pewter stein. There is no fee to participate; must be 21 or older.
