MR. JOSEPH COLISTRA HAS BEEN A ROCK IN A TIME OF CHANGE. hile it is safe to say that every member of the La Salle community is familiar with Mr.Joseph Colistra '64, only a select few know of his distinguished legacy. Mr. Colistra' s admirable career began in 1968 when he returned to his alma mater to teach history and coach football under the wing of the legendary Tex Flannery. Aside from history, he also taught AP Economics and held the chair of the History Department. When close colleagues and friends were asked what first comes to mind to describe Mr. Colistra, all agreed it was his dedication. Whether it be teaching, coaching, or as a family man, Mr. Colistra puts forth every ounce of energy into it. According to one of his closest friends, Mr. Ciccimaro, "Mr. Colistra is the greatest!" Mr. Ciccimaro highlighted everything, from his serious demeanor in the classroom and on the field to his unique sense of humor. Reminiscing on Coach Colistra, both Mr. Diehl and Mr. Stanczak recalled beating a Marvin Harrison !Indianapolis Colts) led Roman Catholic en route to the 1989 Catholic league championship as Coach Colistra's crowning moment. This dominance continued with powerhouse football teams in the 1990's culminating this year when he broke the all-time coaching victories previously held by his mentor and former coach. In Mr. Colistra's career he has impacted thousands of individuals in the classroom, football field, Bro. and colleagues. His devotion to learning has help 1 influence former students to return to La Salle teachers. Faculty members such as Mr. Murphy,~ Donohoe, and Mr. Bielecki all commented on the iI pact Mr. Colistra had on them when they were st dents and this is reflected in their own teachi1 methods. This year many changes have occurred at Salle but one change is ending a 38 year career. ~ Colistra retired from coaching the Explorers at tl end of this season. When change occurs, sometimes it is sweeping. Of course each year introduces a whole new class of freshmen to the La Salle family, but who would expect an entire administration to take over. Brother Richard Kestler, FSC '60 becomes the third president of La Salle College High School. He returns to La Salle after most recently serving as President of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia. Mr. Joe Marchese enters as principal. After serving 28 years as a faculty member and administrator at McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester, NY,Mr. Marchese will take on this new challenge of leading our school community. Mr.Marchese knows all about success as he has a resume of 300 coaching victories and won three New York state championships in basketball. The third new member of the administration is Mrs. Gail Evans who became the school's first Vice-President

La Salle College High School
Change occurs with the beginning of every new school year, but when one attends La Salle College High School a lot remains the same. One can expect certain things at La Salle, an education in the tradition of St. John Baptist de La Salle, dedicated teachers, strong athletic programs, diverse activities, spiritual growth and service to be the mainstay of our school. From the experience of a freshman's first day until the moment of graduation a student becomes aware of what it means to be a part of a Lasallian community. A Lasallian education is based on touching hearts. When one considers what aspect of La Salle is always present the dedicated and caring faculty always stands out. Our teachers continually challenge students to strive for excellence.
Athletic programs have always prided themselves on success off and on the fields of play. No matter the season La Salle student athletes always strive to carry on tradition. It does not matter what type of interest a student has. From Language, Academic, Gaming and Multi-Cultural Clubs to Theater and Forum whatever a student is looking for La Salle helps everyone to find their place. A Catholic school prides itself on carrying on the spirit and teachings of Jesus Christ. At La Salle this is ever present through our Liturgies, Retreat Programs, and Service programs. Through all four years every student experiences these expressions of our faith and this helps them to understand just how special La Salle is.

La Salle College High School
From a new administration to a new student council, from rn faculty to new students: La Salle College High School has seer year has of many changes. Students settled in for a fresh start at Salle. Freshmen were just beginning and seniors were prepari to take their leave - but everyone planned on getting the most c their experiences. Academics and activities both saw chang1 There was the development of new clubs, and some students fou themselves in class with different peers and teachers. Each mm ing we arrived and were greeted by Brother Richard Kestler, a each day we took a few steps forward and, sometimes a few ba1 but we were all progressively working towards improvement. F fleeting over the year there were many events for all students tl made this year memorable. For the freshman, perhaps it wast "crazy-tie" competition or maybe it was simply the first day at Salle. For sophomores, Branch-Out Day or retreats were importa Juniors began on their path to graduation starting with the alwc: brilliant ring ceremony and preparation for SAT's.And the senia preparation for graduation: a moment which will forever stand c in the memories of the last four years. Through it all the expe ences at games, activities, trips, service projects, or Liturgies celebrate our special Lasallian community, we all had a chance realize what makes our school so special. hefustdayofhigh school can be a difficult time for many. At La Salle this tension is eased when upon exiting our cars and leaving our parents we are greeted by the welcoming smile and handshake from Bro . Richard Kestler and Mr. Marchese. We might catch up with classmates from grade school or guys we met at summer enrichment programs or even through tryouts for teams . Then comes the faculty and the Student Council making all the freshmen feel at home. During the first homeroom period people who will be a part of each day of school will smile, perhaps hiding those feelings of uncertainty in a new school. The day flies by with pictures
and book discussions, waiting in line for books for our classes, and coming together as an entire class to be introduced to the administration and learn first hand from Mr. Stanczak how to sing the "Alma Mater" loud and proud. This day only gets better as we follow in the traditions of classes past in the tree planting ceremony. We are truly a part of a great tradition. Finally after everything has been said and done comes the best part. .. the introduction to the cafe food. Teachers mingle and introduce themselves. Lunch partners set up for the year ahead. With all the tension that comes along with this day when it is over it's time to begin the four year journey through La Salle. We are now Explorers! "Wow,we even getlockers!"

pfrit and faith go hand in hand at La Salle. Each year brings new enthusiasm throughout the school. It is inspired by our commitment as a community of faith within gatherings that express our beliefs as a Catholic institution and infused with the Lasallian ideals. This proud tradition carries over into the overall spirit of the school. Whether it is in collections for Thanksgiving or Secret Santa or cheering on athletic teams, La Salle stands proud. Through our various Liturgies one can grasp this spirit within the faculty and student reflections or inspired homilies by Fr. Tony Janton, we witness how truly blessed we are to be a part
of La Salle. It exists in the personal spiritual growth by annual retreats and culminates with senior year and Kairos. Classmates are no longer a face in the crowd but now friends. This energy flows through the student body as the "Pit" comes alive as we cheer for victories piled up over the course of a year. Of course this enthusiasm is even more inflated by the rowdy pep rallies organized by the Student Council. Administration , faculty, staff, and students unite in the spirit of La Salle. Many things change as each year passes but the spirit and faith of La Salle College High School is ever present.

This sense of cari doesn't pertain only to the classroom. We are lucky enough to ha many teachers as our coaches and moderators. We see them games and dances. They join us for Freshman and Sophomc Branch-Out Days. They add their talents and sense of fun to P Rallies and Field Days. And they share of themselves on retn days and especially on Kairos. NEW BEGINNINGS

La SalleCollege High School
Changes. We all go through them. Some people hate chang while others welcome it, but one thing is certain: none of us c, avoid it. Throughout our four years at La Salle, we seniors hm changed in ways that we may not even realize. We have changE in appearance, maturity, knowledge, perception of others and ou selves, and in countless other ways. There are, however, son memories which will never fade. We will always remember "tl good ol' days" of high school, the friends we made, the times th made us laugh, all the things we learned ... Okay, maybe not ever: thing. Looking back when we were VIP's and got hustled for 01 free lunch, or when we were freshmen and did not know whe: our classes were that ended in a 20; we are totally different peop now. We have grown into leaders, into college students, into inte ligent young men. A wise man once said, "Yourpast is what makes your future .. The past four years at La Salle have affected our future in ways VI can not even imagine. Through the help of our family, friends ar teachers, we started our lives in the direction that we want to ~ and are now ready to make that next step. Our next journey is 01 choice. Wherever we go, whatever we do, we will always be cm nected. Another thing that is never going to change is that we hm become brothers for life. Congratulations La Salle, Class of 'O Let's go out and change the world. - Edward Guarrieri 'C

The only thing certain in life is change. This saying applies e: pecially to the transitions between grades during high schoc From incoming freshmen to rising juniors, the progression made l La Salle students will define them for the rest of their lives. Coming from all different schools and backgrounds, freshmE encounter constant change from the day school starts to the day lets out. Making new friends, setting academic goals, and trying路 become more independent are just a few of the situations facir the newest members of the La Salle community. High school ca be a challenge, but the open environment of La Salle cushions tt change. Sophomore year is one of increased confidence and security. 1\ longer are you a lowly freshman who cannot find your classroon These changes also include more work and responsibility as st1 dents. Most sophomores will rise to the challenge and push therr selves to do their best. With college just around the corner, juniors have to change the habits to meet expectations. Increased class work is offset by mm free periods, which are probably spent lounging in the cafeteri with friends. The changes faced junior year will shape the studen Although change is constant, it is a good thing. From the fin year to the third, La Salle lets its students change into what the choose to be. - Kelly Lombard 'O

Junior year is an exciting time. So much has happened up until this point and so much more is yet to come. Change is all around. We look and act differently. Some are driving to school. More opportunities are opening up. In light of all this change, Juniors are expected to step up. Whether it is in athletics or the classroom there is a different feel to this year. Some have taken on larger roles in the play, computer lab, clubs, band, and weight room. Freshmen and Sophomores are looking up at the Junior class to lead by example and seniors are observing the talents that will be needed for next year. With Junior year comes more pressure in the classroom. Everyone from parents to teachers preach that this is the most important year academically and, of course, the SAT's are right around the corner. Responsibilities are mounting and while this is a challenging time for the class, the change is a positive step in the right direction.

Changes by David Bowie would be a fitting theme song for this school year, not just for sophomores, but freshmen, juniors, seniors, and faculty alike. For the sophomores this is our second year of change. Though it may not seem as dramatic as last year, there are some new things we have welcomed and learned to adapt to this year. Even our morning has changed with the institution of prayer and the pledge. As sophomores we have had more responsibility placed on us and become expected to work at a higher level compared to last year. Sophomores can't help but observe the new freshman class and be dumbfounded that, yes, that was us just a year ago. Not only do we realize changes in ourselves and amongst our fellow classmates, but in the faces of our new faculty. Now is the time to settle, grow, and prepare to become upperclassmen as we change again and continue our journey at LaSalle. -Anthony Kent '08

The transition between grade school and high school is an exciting experience. Though the period of adjustment can be difficult and frustrating, it also can be rewarding. This period is a time of change, when friendships are made, or friendships are broken. The relaxed summertime quickly vanishes, leaving an adolescent rat race in its place. Once integrated, however, high school is do-able, not much harder then grade school. Maneuvering the overcrowded hallways, perhaps the biggest change for those from smaller grade schools, becomes second nature, the hallways themselves, scenery. The intimidation of upperclassmen lessens, maybe having an occasional conversation with them, proving that they're actual people. Many people help lessen the pain from this transition: friends, family, and teachers. The transition between high school and grade school is a defining moment, it's sink or swim, but luckily there are other people to rely on and confide in, and to offer their guidance. - Sam Flashner '09

What helps us to change and grow? One could definitely c swer the opportunity to express oneself and their talents in a Sl portive environment. La Salle prides itself on offering progra that suits all interests. No one is left out. For four years each s dent can look and find whatever extracurricular activity out th1 that fits a personality. Listening to WEXPin the morning and he ing the list of coming events, seeing posters taped to the walls the hallways, or walking around at the Activity Fair at the beg ning of each year one can see that La Salle is inclusive of all tale and levels. Whether this talent is acting or singing, student g< ernment or service, there is a creative outlet for you. Incomi freshmen to departing seniors standing together working on pr ects is a tremendous sight. Academically inclined students c work to become a part of the National Honors Society or AcadeI Decathlon squad. Students proud of their heritage can join 1 African-American Association or Celtic Club. The artists can ma their skill to activity including music, acting, or stage crew. Th< who have the gift of speech there's the Forum or Mock Trial. course those who just like to enjoy a hobby there is Ski Club a Gaming Club. The one program that includes the most opportu ties is the Lasallian Service Corps. Service is so important to I development as not only Christians but as human beings. show the unity that exists between the students and the faculty and staff. The community of La Salle really came together right from the beginning of the school year when $10,000 dollars was raised to aid in the clean-up effort in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The first pep rally certainly put the spark into La Salle football and soccer fans with both teams having outstanding seasons helped by the 12th man in the stands. La Salle traditions were continued including Field Day, Wing Bowl, and the Battle of the Bands with a new Film Festival. For the first time the Student Council embraced technology using WEXP), as well as their own Web site, to keep the student body informed. The face of the March mixer changed with the addition of a band along with the traditional DJ. It was a great year at La Salle thanks to the participation of the entire community and the leadership and enthusiasm of the Student Council. - Matt Sinnott '06 - Jim Sinnott '06

The primary focus of the National Honor Society is the peertutoring program; at any point in the year, students seeking aid in a particular subject receive generous assistance from NHS members. In addition to providing academic support, members of the National Honor Society also serve as ambassadors and ushers for numerous school functions and are responsible for organizing and overseeing the annual blood drive. Each year the Red Cross and LaSalle College High School team up to collect blood from students and faculty members alike, allowing the LaSalle community to reach out to people on an immense scale. The faces and names may change from one year to the next in the NHS but one thing that always remains is the tradition of excellence that cai.ries on. - Rick Cosgrove '06

eave to Serve." The last words you see when you leave La Salle. It is easy to notice that many students at La Salle truly live that message. ties that are available to the students at La Salle. As soon as you enter La Salle as a freshman, you are already involved with LSC by participating in the branch out days. The opportunities continue and range from all different type of service projects. There are seasonal service projects such as Secret Santa and the Thanksgiving Collection or other students give up their time on Tuesday's by tutoring younger children at La Salle Academy or Wednesday's at Providence Center. Students also look forward to serving the poor in Kensington at Sarnelli house on Thursday's or going into the streets and serving them during an Outreach on Friday's. The service opportunities at La Salle are endless and this is why many La Salle students get involved. There are many reasons why service is such an important part of the La Salle community. It gives students a chance to give back for everything they have been given. It allows students to reach out to others and offer their own talents or just their time in order to help someone else. - Matthew Sinnott '06

group of thirteen students and three mentors finally set out for Bolivia. For two weeks, La Salle students traveled abroad to serve others, making this a trip a truly watershed moment in school history. While in Bolivia, the group participated in a number of service projects. They painted both the Copacabana School and the Sewenghani School in addition to laying down concrete, painting blackboards, and weeding the school grounds. Sefiora and her volunteers also visited a regions of countryside called Viloma and Mifiapompa, where they distributed clothes and food to the local Bolivians. The group also had the opportunity to experience the rich Bolivian culture and lifestyle. The students had the chance to sample local delicacies and see performances like the Folk Ballet or the traditional Andean musical ensembles. Students also climbed San Pedro Hill in Cochabamba to see the famous "Cristo de la Concordia", and had the chance to interact with some young Bolivians, visiting the local discotecas on NewYears'Eve. Everyone involved with Building Bridges of Solidarity considered it a great success. The Bolivian people benefited greatly from the service projects, and the student volunteers profited from learning about a new culture and language. Their incredible experiences on Building Bridges of Solidarity will remain with them forever. - Matt Stone '07

a Salle's Mock Trial teams enjoyed a lively and challenging season this year. Except for a few returning veterans, most of the team members had little previous experience. Nevertheless, the participants had the opportunity to learn a great deal about trial procedure, rules of evidence, and good rhetorical and critical thinking skills as they prepared and presented the prosecution and defense of a murder trial. The Mock Trial Program, sponsored by the Young Lawyers Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, annually provides students throughout the state with the opportunity to experience authentic trial situations as they present and argue a fictitious case before a real judge and jury in a real courtroom setting. With the able assistance of La Salle graduate, Scott Wolpert,Esquire, attorney/coach, and faculty moderators, Mr. Evans and Mrs. Field, the teams

It is a way to grow closer classmates and friends but, ore importantly, to develop a :tter relationship with God. airos gives the student the abilito take a break from the crazi:ss of senior year and to exame his life. and Mr. Devlin for the work they put into the Kairos retreats. Many students who have experienced Kairos describe it as "incredible" and "something I will never forget." What will Kairos be for you? This is a question only you can answer when you experience it for yourself. So if you haven't been on Kairos, you have something to look forward to senior year. NEW CHALLENGES

La SalleCollege High School
From year to year in the La Salle sports programs while mu stays the same, there is usually a degree of change that occu New star players replace graduated seniors. New coaches inf ence their teams as players move from freshman to junior vars or even to varsity level performance. There are new challenges win titles or break long standing records. Playoffs and chamJ onships are there to be won and lost. This year celebrated the revival of La Salle football, PCLtit in cross-country, soccer, and swimming and the defense of titles lacrosse, baseball, golf and tennis. The year also brought abc change that signaled the end of the 38 year coaching career of Salle's all-time winning football coach, Mr. Joseph Colistra w closed out his illustrious career with a thrilling 14-13 Thanksg: ing Day victory of St. Joseph's Prep. Above all, the hard work and dedication that is instilled ir our athletes by coaches, moderators, teammates, peers, and pc ents provide life-long lessons in teamwork and leadership. P championships are only a brief moment in time, but the chan that occurs in each athlete through the dedication and pride being a part of the tradition of La Salle athletics, lasts a lifetime.

A Return to GloryontheGridiron Coach Joe Colistra led the 2005 Explorers to a successful 9-4 record while breaking the school record for the most wins by a football coach. The Explorers earned a spot in the Catholic League Red Playoffs and beatArchbishop Ryan in the first round 28-3. Although the dream of a championship ended with a loss to Cardinal O'Hara, the Explorers displayed their team work and determination when they conquered the nationally ranked St. Joe's Hawks in over-
time 14-13 Thanksgiving Day ending a seven year winless streak. La Salle's defense was among the best in the competitive Catholic League Red led by Seniors George Hudson, Joe Tubolino, Jeff Liberatore, Kevin Ulrich, and Greg Crone. On the offensive side of the ball, Jim Gehringer, Brad Caglia, Clark Hodgeson, and Tom Prokop opened up holes for Mike Padgeon, Chris Agnew and Alain Bonny. Hauling in catches were Drew Wilkins, Rick Cosgrove, Eric
Schoeffling, Matt Ihlein, and Jerry Fillman. Many underclassman played significant roles in shaping the outcome of the 2005 season among them, Chris Ashley (RB), Jack Forster (WR/DB), John Harrison (QB), and John McBumie(DL), The 2005 Football Team will always have fond memories of the season and everyone associated with the program will never be forgotten. - Eric Schoeffling '06

OurFancy Footwork WastheKey to a Championship Season No one needs to tell the LaSalle 2005 PCL Championship Soccer team that the road to a championship is ever easy. The Explorers learned firsthand exactly how difficult it was to be a champion, but in the end it was all worth it. After a slow start to the season that included three straight ties and two loses it seemed doubtful that the Explorers would be playing in November. It was at this point that team leaders felt the
need to address problems with communication on and off the field. With their problems behind them, and things beginning to change for the better, the team finished the regular season unbeaten and never looked back in the playoffs defeating Father Judge, Roman Catholic, and Archbishop Wood in the PCL Championship game. Much of the team's success is attributed to the strong defensive play of Chris

Catholic League Champs began with an excellent performance by the freshmen finishing 2nd, led by Sean McCullough, Pat Donnelly, Bobby Long, Brian Callahan and Jesse Fields. Not to let anyone down the Junior Varsity did their job and three-peated, led by junior Colin Barrett, sen-

In the varsity race, seniors Bob McCullough (2nd), Pat Jeffers (5th), Sean Casey (8th), and Steve Dorsey (14th), along with sophomore Dan Lowry (6th) put all 5 of La Salle's scoring runners in the top 15. Experience Continues to Buildfor aWinner intheWater The LaSalle water polo team has gone largely unnoticed. That was until this year. The season started off roughly with frustrating losses to Haverford and Penn Charter and narrow wins over Upper Merion and Friends Central. Injuries plagued the team and two heartbreaking overtime losses to Malvern Prep, but a win at Friends Central the following week brought newly restored confidence for the Eastern B Division Championship at Haver-
ford. An easy victory over the Hun school brought on the number one ranked St. Joseph's of Baltimore. An electric atmosphere and a stunning victory over St. Joe's brought LaSalle to the championship match against St. Benedict's. St. Benedict's was quickly surpassed by the strength and stamina of the Explorers both on offense and defense. Following the tournament, the Explorer water polo team had an explosive amount of confidence

The squad had a ;h preseason schedule, play:igainst notable, ranked teams 1 as Abington Friends, Ger1townAcademy, Penn Charter St. Joe's Prep. ~s the regular season aptched, the team began to play emely well together. Two ors, Bill Warrender (co-cap-
tain) and Tyrell Marshall, led the Explorers on the court with the help from several underclassmen. The other seniors, Doug Maxwell, Matt Greenfield (cocaptain), and Billy Keenan, contributed valuable minutes and helped players to get better. Sophomore All-Catholic, Clay Penacale, quickly became the "go-to-guy" leading the Explorers in points per game. Other key contributors included Anthony
Acie-Davis, Joe Migliarese, T.J. Brown, Greg Dusing. With two season ending injuries to vital players, Sean Benz and Mike Topley, the team quickly came together to prepare for the rest of the season. The Explorers started off the tough Philadelphia Catholic League season with a record of 2-0 and had numerous close games with opposing teams. A highlight of the 2006 season was a spectacular game in which
the Explorers gave the Northern Division Champion, Cardinal Dougherty team their first loss during the regular season. The La Salle Explorers engaged in a great and competitive season and, even though they fell short of the playoffs, they became better players as the season went on. OurFancy MovesLedto a Return to PCLChampionship Match This past season marked coach Vic Stanley's second as head coach of the Explorers, and for the second year in a row, the team made it all the way to the Catholic League finals, losing to Northeast Catholic. In addition to its fine league performance, the team took second in the PCL Individuals, the La Salle Invitational, and the New Hope-Solebury Classic.
While the team says good-bye to five varsity wrestler's, the future looks bright as nine varsity wrestlers return for next year, and over forty more are in the pipeline. The team was led to many victories last season by captains, Connor Tatlow, Kevin Klohe, Ben Courtney, Steve Ullrich, and Rob Stott, not to mention top-notch coaching by Coach Stanley and

TheBoysofWinterSkating to a StrongSeason Hard work is what La Salle Ice Hockey is all about and that means working hard for the long seven month season. The team practices and works out three times per week along with a heavy game schedule. Overcoming the demanding physical requirement resulted in the team's extremely successful season. In the early days of September the team looked very young but talented led by two strong seniors,
John Williams and Nick Wright. The team welcomed many new, young faces. Despite the lack of experience, the La Salle team still had a superb chance of reaching the Flyer's Cup Championship and even the Pennsylvania State Championship. Track TeamHeads Indoors forMoreCompetition As the cold arrived, the La Salle track and field team donned their gloves, hats, sweatshirts, and much more to brave the oncoming winter. The distance runners hit the roads and the bridal path along the Wissahickon, the sprinters and hurdlers headed out to the track for some speed work, and the throwers and jumpers made their way to the sand pits. The long and bitter hours of hard work paid off however, as individuals and relays ran, threw, and
jumped to new heights (pun intended). Almost every Saturday the La Salle team headed out to Lehigh, Haverford, Ursinus, or Glen Mills to compete in different events in the weekly "association meets" held by the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association placing in the top three in some of these competitive events week in and out. Mental and physical hness were qualities Coach k Lichtner would remind the I about during 6:15 morning Christmas workouts. The I accepted this challenge with ~ation and commitment, and 路 hard-work clearly paid off big wins over elite teams
Loyola of Maryland, Saint Joseph's Metuchen, and Malvern Prep. With the support of assistant coaches Steve Duncheskie, Jim Tate, Dennis Bloh, moderator Gerry Miller and super-fan Father Anthony Janton, the team went into the biggest meet of season, the Easterns, and came out with an impressive 5th Place finish. As a result of the countless hours of time spent together in the pool, the team became very
close, and Senior Co-Captains Eric Prendergast and Ben Dearden, as well as other seniors Chris Driscoll, Tom Winning, and Paul Bonnevie provided important leadership. The team also had major contributions from juniors Garrett Gallagher, Brian Jeffers, John Holt, Vince Levito, and Brendan Wills, sophomores Todd Domanski and Greg Woods, and Freshman Ted Walker, Chris Foley, Blase Szyszko, and Mike

OurTireless Dedication Begins to ShowResults When Mr. Chris Holwick was 1medhead coach of the La Salle rew team in August of 2003, he 1herited a program that had :ered from the winning tradition had established in the midneties. At the 78th annual :otesbury Cup Regatta of 2003, ,e largest scholastic race in the orld, three out of four La Salle )ats were eliminated in the :mi-finals. Only the freshman ght advanced to the final, in hich they placed sixth.
One year later, the team's tireless dedication finally began to show results on race day. The first medals of the spring season came from the second varsity lightweight eight and the undefeated JV single, rowed by Jim Barker, at the Catholic League Championship. A week later, the freshman lightweights edged out St. Joseph's for a gold medal finish at the City Championship while Barker again placed first. The team's success continued
at the most important race of the year with three out of four boats advancing to the Stotesbury finals. The JV eight finished sixth while the lightweight eight finished just under a boat-length ahead of rival St. Augustine for a bronze medal. Finally, the freshman eight edged Florida's Winter Park for an unbelievable silver medal finish. This year the lightning quick junior class returned in addition to a small but dedicated group of
senior leaders: Conor Crowe, Joe Hughes, Cole Johanson, Scott Jones, Kevin McCort, Sean McLaughlin, Pat Playdon, Jeff Powers, Jon Vettori, T.J. Wallin, and Dave Yusavitz. This spring will be an exciting season because La Salle now has the power, the experience and most importantly, the attitude to re-establish the program as a dominant force in the world of scholastic rowing. - Sean McLaughlin '06

A PCLChampionship isa Challengel butOneLaSalleisReady to Meet Over the past number of years, La Salle's Varsity Tennis Team has consistently experienced winning seasons, and this year's team looked to continue that tradition. After winning the Catholic League Championship in 2004, the team fell short of their goal last year after a defeat to the eventual champions from Archbishop Carroll in the semifinals of the playoffs. This year's
Varsity team set a goal of returning the PCL Championship Tennis title to La Salle. The tennis team returned four players from last year's Varsity Team. The team was led by Senior Captain Will Whalon, Junior Adam Coombs, and Sophomores Nate Meyers and Mike Oliver. Along with the returning Varsity players, newcomers contributing to the team included Seniors Matt

The team was also helped by newcomers in Sophomore Kyle Sheetz and Freshmen John Lamprecht and Ryan Marcante. The tennis team is lead by veteran coaches Mr. Bill Geiger and his assistant, Mr. Joseph Radvansky. The team faced early tests in
non-PCL matches against Pe Charter, Plymouth Whiteman Holy Ghost Prep, and Sprir field. La Salle's path to the P< crown began in mid-April, a~ looked to defeat rival St. Joe Prep as well as defending char Carroll. Earning a PCL Cham1 onship is a challenge, but it is o that La Salle was ready to me as it prepared to achieve its go: - Will Whalon '

OurWilltoWin DroveUstoVictory The 2006 La Salle Golf season had much promise with four returning All-Catholics. Alex Muller and Tom Cowhey represented a strong one-two punch, along with returning seniors, Barry Brady, Brendan Egan and new addition, senior Pat Cunnane. In addition to the seniors, the team had great depth from
younger players such as Kevin Turk, Rob Waitkus, and Anthony Giannetti, not to mention juniors Reed Irwin, Zach Spurlin, and Phil Cassidy, and sophomores Pat Melvin, Matt Mc Govern, and Pat Knowles. Showing enormous potential are freshmen Kevin Genuardi, Kyle Di Giacobbe, Greg Palko, Brian Delaney, and Kevin Seybert. year. During this trip, the team played thirty-six holes of golf each day, and began to unify as a team. This yearly trip enables the team to become more close-knit, and the Golf team becomes more like a brotherhood. The Golf team looked forward to another fabulous season of taking on any and all challengers under the leadership of head coach, Mr. Martin Jackson and his assistant, Mr. David Diehl. -Barry Brady '06

Expectations Run HighForaTitleRepeat The 2006 La Salle baseball team returned six starters from a team that finished the 2005 season as the #1 ranked team in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The Explorers, under the guidance of head coach Mr. Joe Parisi, looked to repeat as champions of the Philadelphia Catholic League. The pitching staff was led by reigning PCL North MVP Matt Zielinski and featured seniors T.J. Foley, Mike Villari, and Will Phillips, and promising juniors Dan Lacon and
Joe Weitzman. All three outfield positions were filled with returning starters as seniors Bill Warrender (Right Field) and Steve Ullrich (Left Field) patrolled the corners while returning 1st team AllCatholic outfielder Mike Villari covered ground in center. Seniors Ryan Creter (3rd Base) and Will Phillips (Shortstop) protected the left side of the infield while fellow classmates Jeff Liberatore (2nd Base) and John Knab (1st base) took care of the right side. Junior
Sean Saverio (Catcher) rounded out the starting nine as he directed the pitchers from behind the plate. The junior class provided power off the bench in Matt Howard and Greg Frantz. This year's highlyexperienced team was excited to return to Florida for its second annual spring training. This year, the Explorers traveled to Disney's Wide World of Sports and took on teams from Texas, North Carolina, and Maryland from March 813. After returning from Florida,
the team jumped into its Catl League schedule with tc games against Conwell-E Archbishop Ryan, and Fa Judge. Duplicating last year's cess would prove to be a tc task, but as Coach Parisi put it in 1995 when asked if the Ex1 ers could repeat as champ after taking the title in l I "We're the only team that can -T.J. Power andSpeed DrivethisDynasty With the loss of seventeen 1iors and three All Americans m last years squad, the 2006 Salle Lacrosse season, is proted to be a difficult challenge, 路 there is no Coaching staff or m more ready. After finishing Jther phenomenal season in )5, by winning yet another 'L Championship, finding mselves in the EPSLA finals the second year in a row and ishing with a 29-3 overall
record, the Explorers saw no reason why this year would not be like the last. They expected to again defend another Catholic League title and to find themselves in the mix in the EPSLA playoffs. Even with the loss of last year's senior class, La Salle was not rebuilding; they were reloading, with a return of three All State selections in Greg Casey, Jack Forster and Mike Haas. The
team again was powered by an extremely explosive offense lead by seniors Greg Casey, Steve Kapp and Chris Agnew, assisted by a very good corps of underclassmen, which includes juniors Jack Forster, Tim Vogelbacker, Mike Kapp, Clay Wells, Nick Gorsky, and Andy Henrich, and sophomore Conrad Ridgway. The defense, though loosing the entire starting lineup from last year, also returned a huge
amount of talent, seniors Doug Maxwell, Tom Heigh, and Chris Driscoll, juniors Kelly Lombard, Rob Seraceni, and T.J Brown. The Goalie will again be three year starter Mike Haas, along with the very talented Jimmy Sinnott. The 2006 season was extremely tough one for the La Salle Lacrosse team, but no team was more ready to take on this challenge. - Mike Haas '06
