As I drive a 992 model, I am part of Division 7, which includes 991 and 992. Usually, this is a very competitive division, and I am very proud to have won the yearly award for 2022.

As it can be a bit intimidating to participate for the first time, I wanted to share some tips and tricks for a first-time participant:

- The main objective is to bring the car as close as possible to how it left the factory. Cleaning and polishing are the initial steps. As I am old school and still a fan of waxes, I usually polish and wax the car the week before the event. If you have your car ceramic coated, you might still want to consider some ceramic enhancers for gloss.

- On the day before the event, I give a good wash and a thorough internal cleaning. Make sure no water spots are left.

- Remove all the non-factory items. Including sunglasses, chargers, door openers, etc…

- On the day of the event, I like to arrive at least 1 hour before the start, to do a final preparation. Cleaning the wheels and windows is key, as we are not towing the car on a trailer.

The judges will give points for 3 different categories: Exterior, Interior, and Storage. Every car starts with a perfect score and loses points as the judges find problems. Then they add the points of the different categories and handover to the organization which will calculate the totals and determines the winner of each division. Two other awards are given in our Lone Star Region version of the concours: Judges Choice – for the car with the highest scores and People’s Choice – where the participants get to vote in 2 cars of their preference.

The Concours calendar is always updated on the club website and the organization always gives judge training sessions, where anyone can get a better understanding of the criteria and get qualified to be a judge.
