Wilson Memorial Hospital was honored with an “A” grade in the fall of 2013 update to the Hospital Safety Score, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. The Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and is administered by The Leapfrog Group (Leapfrog), an independent industry watchdog. The first and only hospital safety rating to be analyzed in the peer-reviewed Journal of Patient Safety, the Score is designed to give the public information they can use to protect themselves and their families. “We are very proud of our ‘A’ grade,” said Patti Klingel,Vice President of Quality Management at Wilson Memorial. “At Wilson Memorial, providing effective, safe patient care is central to everything we do. We are continually collecting and reporting patient safety information to measure our progress and set goals. New Universal 1 Location Announced in Sidney Universal 1 Credit Union (U1) has awarded Miller-Valentine Group the contract for a new member service center at the corner of Michigan and Lester. Our Corporate Real Estate Department supported the selection efforts focused on serving U1’s growing Sidney and Shelby County membership base. “We’re excited to provide the additional convenience to our members,” said Steve Shore, U1’s Executive Vice President of Operations. “Besides the great location, this new facility will include expanded services such as a drive thru – something everybody is looking forward to.”
U1’s current location at 2310 Industrial Drive will remain open until the new center’s doors open in 2014. Progress and updates will be posted at www.u1cu.org. Headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, U1 is a not-forprofit financial cooperative that exists to create personal, community and financial wellbeing for its members. U1 is state chartered and its membership extends to any person who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Shelby County along with several other Ohio chartered communities. U1 has several locations throughout the greater Miami Valley.

Sidney Municipal Airport Expands
The City of Sidney recently dedicated a new runway expansion at the Sidney Municipal Airport. The purpose of the project was to comply with Runway Safety Area, Object Free Area and Runway Protection Zone safety issues and meet the physical condition and length demands of existing and future aviation needs.
The total cost of the project was $2,497,418. The City received Federal Funding in the amount of $1,822,401. State Funding received was $360,000. Local funding was $315,017. The project involved shifting the runway 1,465 feet to the east, removing 1,050 feet from west end of the existing runway and extending the runway 215 feet to the east. Thus the new and improved runway is 5,000 feet long and 75 feet wide. The new runway opened for aviation traffic on November 11, 2013 and will accommodate larger aircraft for local and visiting industries as well as individual airport patrons. Those who participated in the Dedication Ceremony included Jim Jordan, Congressman, U.S. House of Representatives, Mary Jagiello and John Mayfield, FAA Detroit Office, Randy Chevalley, ODOT District 7 Office, Mike Barhorst, Mayor, City of Sidney, Russ Gottemoeller, Chairman, Airport Advisory Board and Mark Cundiff, City Manager, City of Sidney.
Baker Chiropractic, LLC Opens in Anna Track Side Treats Coming to Anna Residents in Anna and the surrounding area will soon have a new place to dine. Construction is underway for Track Side Treats; a new eatery in Anna located on West Main Street adjacent to the railroad tracks. Owners Chad Thobe, Bob Klopfenstein and Jeff Abels have been working tirelessly to move the project along. Track Side Treats will provide a social gathering place for all ages to enjoy. The menu will include an extended choice of ice cream flavors and pizza. Track Side Treats will be designed to bring a fun and inviting place for the public to enjoy especially after various community and school events. Plans include the employment of 16-20 part-time employees and several full-time managers. The hours of operation will be determined by customer demand. Summer operating hours will be from 10 AM to 10 PM daily, 7 days a week. A March 2014 opening date is planned.
Dr. Adam C. Baker, DC. ATC is excited to announce the opening of Baker Chiropractic, LLC in Anna, Ohio. Dr. Baker grew up on a family grain and dairy farm outside of Jackson Center. After graduating from Jackson Center High School, he attended Wilmington College where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine/ Athletic Training. While in the Athletic Training program, Dr. Baker earned a two year Internship with the Cincinnati Bengals Sports Medicine Team. After graduating from Wilmington College in 2005, he continued his path of education by attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Dr. Baker graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2009, and is currently working on a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician degree. Dr. Baker is also a professor at Edison Community College and teaches in the areas of Anatomy and Physiology and Human Biology. continued on page 4
