INTRODUCTION
NCAA CHAMPIONSIPS & THE SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE Setting the Standard for Intercollegiate Athletics in Swimming and Diving
Over the course of several decades, the Southeastern Conference has been a constant force in swimming and diving. Last season, Tennessee earned the highest finish in the SEC, taking fourth at the 2019 NCAA DI Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. Texas A&M and Auburn also earned a top-10 finishes, finishing in ninth and tenth, respectively. Four other teams manged to finish in the top 25. Geogia finished 12th overall, while Florida, Kentucky, and Missouri finished 14th, 15th, and 18th, respectively. The conference has placed 106 women’s teams in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships, and the SEC has compiled 251 individual NCAA titles. At the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships, Florida and Missouri earned spots within the top 10 teams at the event, marking the 51st consecutive season in which the SEC has placed at least one men’s team in the top 10. Since 1969, 140 SEC teams have finished in the NCAA’s top 10.

• The SEC has had 11 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships titles: Tennessee - 1978; Florida - 1983 & 1985; Auburn - 1997, 1999, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009.
• The SEC has had 14 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships titles: Florida – 1982, 2010; Georgia – 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2013, 2014, 2016; Auburn – 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007.
• 2019 marked the 51st consecutive year that the SEC has had at least one team in the top 10 of the NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships. The SEC has placed a total of 140 teams in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships since 1969.
• Since 1982, the SEC has placed 106 teams in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships.
• SEC athletes in men’s swimming & diving have captured a total of 183 individual NCAA titles.

HIGHLIGHTS At SEC Championships, LSU had 14 swimmers and divers appear in championship finals for the Tigers. Junior Juan Celaya-Hernandez continued to show that he is the best men’s diver in school history. The Mexico won 18 of 24 events during the season. He was named SEC Diver of the Week four times. Won the SEC Championship on one-meter and took the bronze platform. Earned the title of an NCAA All-American after finishing third on platfrom at the NCAA Championships.
Summer Spradley and Haylee Knight swam all the way to the NCAA Championships this season. Knight broke her own school record in the 100-Yard Butterfly at the 2019 SEC Championships with a time of 51.71. Summer Spradley also broke her own school record at SEC’s in the 200Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:10.03. Karl Luht used record breaking performances to propell himself all the way to the NCAA Championships. At the 2019 SEC Championships, Luht set a new school record in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 45.58. He would go on to compete in Austin at NCAA’s in the 100-Yard Backstroke as well as Freestyle.
Lizzie Cui finalized her place in LSU women’s diving history. Cui was named Diver of the week twice during her senior season. At the 2019 SEC Championships, she earned the silver on both the one and three-meter springboards. She then finsihed in sixth place on one-meter at the NCAA Championships, eanring her the title of an All-American.
