NCAA Reminders

The NCAAholdsLouisianaStateUniversity (LSU) accountablefor theactionsofitsfansandbusinesses. Thefollowingactionsmay resultfromaviolationof NCAArules:

• Declarestudent-athletesineligible

• Forfeitgames

• Losescholarships

• Forfeitrecruitingopportunities

• Loseeligibilityforpost-seasoncompetition

• Payfinesorreturnsubstantialsumsofmoney

Reporting Suspected NCAA Rules Infractions

ASK BEFORE YOU ACT

Prospect

Anystudent who has started classes for the ninth grade.

Student-Athlete

A student who is currently participating in college athletics.

Recruiting Inducement

Arrangement of benefits used to recruit a prospect to LSU.

Extra Benefit

Benefits provided to a student-athlete that are not available (andpublicized) to the general student body and/or public.

Booster

Any individual who has attended LSU, purchased gametickets to LSU, or made a financial contribution to LSU Athletics and/or Tiger Athletic Foundation. This list is not comprehensive.

Agent/Marketing Representative

Any person who markets an athlete's athletic ability forpersonal financial gain and/or represents an athlete in name, image and likeness opportunities.

Contact

Any face-to-face encounter between a prospect or the prospect's family member and any institutional staff member or booster/fan in which any dialogue occurs in excess of a greeting.

AcademicAssistance

Any type of academic assistance given to a student-athletes (e.g., tutoring, test completion, note taking, etc.) outside of approvedinstitutional resources.

Name, Image and Likeness

The ability for student-athlete to use their Name, Image and Likeness forpersonal gain in ways permitted within institutional and state legislation.

Anyindividualwho hasattended LSU, purchasedgame ticketsto LSU, ormadeafinancialcontributionto LSU Athleticsand/orTigerAthletic Foundation.

Booster Involvement

Asabooster,the NCAAlimitstheinvolvementthatyoumayhave withanyprospectorcurrentstudent-athleteand/ortheirfamily members.

Permissible Booster Activitieswith a Prospect:

✓ Notifythe LSU coachingstaffofpotentialprospects

✓ Viewaprospect'sgameonyourowninitiative

✓ Continuetohavecontactwithanestablishedfamily friend orneighborwhoisaprospect(pre-existingrelationship withprospectbeingrecruitedby LSUshallbevetted throughtheCompliance Office)

✓ Receiveacallfromaprospectonlyiftheprospect initiatesthecallanditisnotforrecruitingpurposes

Permissible Booster Activitieswith a CurrentStudent-Athlete:

✓ Hostamealonanoccasionalbasiswithpriorapprovalfrom the ComplianceOffice

✓ Speakwithstudent-athletesatathleticevents,athletic banquets,andothereventssponsoredby LSU Athleticsand/ or TigerAthletic Foundation

✓ Boosters, otherthaninstitutionalstaffmembersand/oran officerordirectorofanentityoftheinstitution,mayengage inaname, imageandlikenessopportunitywitha student-athlete

Boosters may NOT:

• Engage in recruiting activities that are designed to secure a prospect's enrollment at LSU including:

0 Contactingaprospect

0 Contactingaprospect'sparent, coachorteacher

0 Evaluatingtheathleticabilityofaprospectatthe directionof thecoachingstaff

0 Recruitingaprospecttoattend LSU

• Provide a prospect and/or current student-athlete with (this is not an exhaustive list):

0Vehicleoruseofavehicle

0Cash,loan,financialassistance

0 Freeorreducedadmissiontoanyevents(e.g.,movies, concerts,athleticcontests)

0 Freeorreducedcostservices, rentals, orpurchasesofany type (e.g.,meals,clothing, haircuts, tattoos,carrepair)

0 Freeorreducedcosthousing

0 Entertainment

0Academicassistance(e.g.,tutoring, assistancecompleting classwork,useofcomputer)

• Provide an NILdeal to a prospect or current student-athlete as an inducementto attend LSU

Anybenefittoastudent-athletethatisnotavailable(and publicized) tothegeneralstudentbodyand/orpublicis consideredan extra benefit. Student-athletesandprospects MUSTalwayspaythegoingrateforALLgoodsandservices; and maynotreceivepreferentialtreatmentbasedofftheirstatusasan athlete. Withthe notorietythat surrounds manyofour student-athletes,itiscommonforfans,businesses, andboosters towanttohelpourstudent-athletesbyprovidingthemcertain typesofbenefits. Inmanycases, thiskindactcancausemore harmthangood,asitultimatelyaffectsastudent-athlete's athleticseligibility.

Inorderto protecttheeligibilityofourstudent-athletes,you mayNOT:

0 Provideorarrangefor prospects,student-athletesortheir familiestoreceivegoodsorservicesforfreeoratareduced ratethatisnotavailable(andpublicized) tothegeneral publicand/orstudentbody.

0 Provideanytypeofgoodorservicewithoutchargeorata reducedratetoastudent-athleteorprospect.

0 Providecompensationinanyform(e.g.,giftcards,cash, discountedgoods)inexchangeforastudent-athlete's autographoutsideofpermissiblename,imageandlikeness opportunities.

COMMON QUESTIONS ON BOOSTERS AND EXTRA BENEFITS

RECRUITING

1. May a booster call a prospect or send congratulatory message once a prospect has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) with LSU?

Yes. Providedpriorapprovalisgrantedby theComplianceOffice. Keepinmindthattherestrictionsrelatedtomaterialbenefitsstill apply.

2. May a booster pay for a prospect's expenses or fees to attend a camp?

No. Unlesstheprospectisanimmediatefamilymember.

EXTRA BENEFITS

1. May a booster provide a student-athlete with a nominal gift for a special event (e.g., Birthday, Christmas,Wedding)?

No. Provisionsofany gift,includinggiftsofnominalvalue, is consideredanextrabenefitunder NCAAregulations. Receiptof suchbenefitsmayjeopardizethestudent-athlete'sathletics eligibility.

2.May a booster provide a student-athlete with an automobile to drive while their vehicle is in the shop getting repaired?

No. Thiswouldbeanextrabenefitviolationandwould jeopardizetheathleticseligibility ofthestudentathlete.

3. May a booster purchase astudent-athlete'scomplimentary tickets?

No. Student-athletesmay notreceivepayment forcomplimentary admissionsnorexchangethemforany itemofvalue. Inaddition, student-athletes' complimentary admissionsareonly intendedfor theirfamily/friends.

INVOLVEMENT WITH TIGER ATHLETIC FOUNDATION

Under NCAArules, athleticsboosterorganizationsarenot permitted tobe involvedintherecruitmentofprospective student-athletes. Thefollowingquestionsapply toindividuals whoareassociatedwithTiger AthleticFoundation (TAF).

1. MayaprospectreceiveaTigerAthleticFoundation scholarship?

No.Theonly exceptionisifthescholarshipisgrantedbasedon theacademicexcellenceorfinancialneedoftheindividual,andis awardedonabasisunrelatedtotheirathleticsability. Extracurricularactivitiesmay notbeconsideredaspartofthe criteriaintheawardingofthescholarship.

2.WhatinvolvementcantheTigerAthleticFoundationhave withaprospect?

Aprospect-agedindividualbeingrecruitedby LSUmay attenda Tiger AthleticFoundationfunction, providedtheinvitationisopen toalargergroupofprospect-agedindividualsandtheeventis unrelatedtoathletics. Ifallprospect-agedindividualsattending theeventareprovidedacomplimentarymeal,thenthe prospect-aged individual beingrecruited by LSUmay alsoreceive thecomplimentary meal. Becauseprospectscannotbecontacted, invitestoTiger AthleticFoundationfunctionsmustbedeliveredin thesamemannertoallprospect-agedindividualsparticipatingin thefunction. Invitesmay besenttohighschoolsoradvertisedin thenewspaperindicatingthedetailsoftheevent. Theinvitemay alsobesenttoallhighschoolseniorsinthearea,seniorswhoare interestedinattending LSU,seniorswhohavebeenacceptedto LSUoretc.; however,theinvitemay notbeissuedonly to prospectswhowillparticipateinathleticsat LSU.

3.WhatiftheTigerAthleticFoundationfunctionisopentothe generalpublicandprospectsattendthefunction?

ProspectsmayattendaTiger AthleticFoundationfunctionthatis opentothegeneralpublicaslongasthe prospectpaysforthe mealandentertainment. Anexceptiontothiswouldbeifthe functionandmealarefreetoallhighschoolseniorsfromthelocal community. Thesamerestrictionsstillapply afteraprospect commitstoorsignsa National Letterof IntentwithLSU. An LSU signeemustbetreated thesameasany otherhighschoolstudent.

4.Canaprospect be announcedor introduced ataTiger AthleticFoundationevent?

No. Aprospectmay notbesingledoutandmustbetreatedinthe samemannerasany otherhighschoolstudentinattendance.

Employment of a student-athlete is permissible, provided the following conditionsare met:

✓ Prior approval is granted by the Compliance Office (there is a series of forms that need to becompleted).

✓ Student-athleteis only paid for the workactually performed.

✓ Student-athleteis paid the same rate as othersperforming similar tasks.

✓ Compensationis not based on the reputation or status of the student-athlete.

✓ No preferential treatmentis provided to the student-athlete (e.g., rides to/from the place of employment, bonuses not offered to other employees).
