Chancellor, LSU Eunice

r. William J. Nunez III, Ph.D., has spent over 35 years in higher education. He currently serves as the Chancellor and Professor of Biology at Louisiana State University at Eunice, Eunice, LA, USA. Prior to coming to LSUE in August, 1996, Dr. Nunez served: from 1992 to 1996 as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Professor of Biology at Indiana University, Kokomo, Indiana; from 1983 to 1992 as Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Professor of Biology at Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph, Missouri; from 1973 to 1983, Dr. Nunez served as Chairperson and Professor of the Department of Biology and Health Sciences, University of Detroit, Detroit, Michigan; and, from 1970 to 1973 he served as Assistant (1970) and Associate (1973) Professor of Biology at University of Detroit. Dr. Nunez received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in 1965 and 1967 from Louisiana State University; and, his Ph.D. in 1970 from the University of North Texas, Denton, TX, in Immunology/Microbiology. Author of over 30 professional publications in the areas of Microbiology/Immunology and Academic Administration, Dr. Nunez is the past President and member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of University Administrators

(AAUA). He is also listed in American Men and Women of Science and Who’s Who in America/Midwest. He is a member of several professional academic/scientific societies, such as Sigma Xi, and is a past recipient of the National Science Foundation’s Professional Science Faculty Development Award and was a NASA-Ames/Stanford University, ASEE Senior Faculty Research Awardee and the SIFE “University President of the Year.” Dr. Nunez has also served as PI/Director for over 15 basic research grants in Immunology and Microbiology and academic program grants and awards. Dr. Nunez was the first recipient of the Mayor’s award for Volunteerism in the Arts (St. Joseph, MO) in 1992. Dr. Nunez is a past President of the Eunice Rotary Club; a “Rotarian of the Year” awardee, as well as a “Paul Harris Fellow” award recipient. He also is a past board member of: the St. Landry/Evangeline Parish United Way; the Eunice Community Health Clinic; and, the St. Landry Parish Literacy Coalition. He is a current board member of the Acadiana Regional Development District; the Enterprise Consortium of the Gulf Coast; the Eunice Chamber of Commerce; the St. Landry Parish-Opelousas Chamber of Commerce; and, the Chairperson

of the Board of Trustees of the Acadiana Medical Center. Dr. Nunez was the 2006 recipient of the Eunice “Citizen of the Year Award” as well as the 2006 Lifepoint Hospitals “Board Leadership Award.” Dr. Nunez has been married for 44 years to Adele H. Nunez, who is an educator with past service as an elementary teacher and school principal. She currently is a reading program (SRA) coach for Acadia Parish schools. Bill and Adele have two children and three grandchildren.

athletic director jeff willis 10th Year as Athletic Director, 12th as Head Baseball Coach

eff Willis is in his 10th year as Athletic Director, and his 12th season as head coach of the Bengal Baseball team. The Bengal AD holds a bachelorâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s degree in Health Sciences from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and a masterâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s degree in Health and Kinesiology from Texas A&M University at Kingsville. Willis served as the head coach (baseball) of the NJCAA National Team which finished fourth in the 25th Anniversary of the Honkbal Tournament in Haarlem, Netherlands. He also coached the NJCAA National Team in the summer of 2008, competing against the Chinese Taipai

National Team. Willis also serves as the Assistant Regional Director for the NJCAA Region XXIII and is on the Executive Committee for the NJCAA Coaches Association. In his time at LSU Eunice, Willis has seen the three Bengal programs amass a total overall record of 959-319 (.750 winning percentage) while gathering six NJCAA National Championships, two National Runner-Up finishes, two thirdplace national finishes and a fourth-place finish in the nation.

Prior to College: Anative of Gonzales, La., Nickens attended Dutchtown High School, where he was a four-year letterwinner in football and baseball for the Griffins. An All-District quarterback, while his travel baseball team won a state tournament, regional championship, super-regional and finished third out of 500 teams. Off the field, he was a member of the Allied Health and Honors Society. The youngest child with an older sister, Nickens chose to come to LSU Eunice “to win a National Championship.”

Prior to College: A native of Eunice, La., Caswell attended St. Edmund’s Catholic High School , where he was a two-time letter winner in football in addition to his four years of playing baseball for the Blue Jays. As a junior, he set the St. Ed’s single-season hits record with 45 total hits while being named All-District, All-Parish and LBCA All-State before being named All-District and an honorable mention All-state player as a senior. The youngest child with an older sister, Caswell chose to come to LSU Eunice because he “always wanted to play for the LSUE baseball team.”

Prior to College: A native of Brooklyn, NY, McDonald attended Grand Street High School, where he played baseball for the Wolves. His father, Tony McDonald, played Major League Baseball in the Philadelphia Phillies organization, while his cousin, Noberto Martin, played in the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels organization. His cousin, Jose Gumbs, played for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League. One of five children, with an older brother, an older sister and two younger sisters, McDonald chose to come to LSU Eunice because of its’ “good education and baseball team.”

Redshirt Freshman • Outfielder • Eunice, Louisiana • St. Edmund’s Catholic High School

As a Freshman: Redshirted for the Bengals in 2013.

Prior to College: A native of Eunice, La., Lafleur attended St. Edmund’s Catholic High School , where he also played football, basketball and ran track in addition to playing baseball for the Blue Jays. A multiple time state qualifier in track, he was the 2011 state runner-up in both the 100- and 200-meter dash. A three-time All-District performer in football, Lafleur was also named district MVP, All-Acadiana and honorable mention All-State in 2012. The first player in St. Ed’s football history to rush and pass for over 1,000 yards in a single season, he broke the school touchdown record (52 TDs) and is second in school history for rushing touchdowns. On the baseball diamond, he was a three-time All-District selection, also being named All-Parish as a junior and senior, he was the District MVp and an All-State selection as a senior. The youngest child with two older sisters, Lafleur chose to come to LSU Eunice because he “grew up in Eunice and saw the success of the program, and being the athlete that I am I would like to succeed at the highest level and become part of the legacy.”

Prior to College: A native of Prairieville, La., Chauin attended Family Christian Academy, where he was a four-time letter winner in baseball. On the diamond, he was a first team All-State selection his junior and senior seasons while helping his team to both the 2012 and 2013 Class C State Championships. His cousin, Aaron Loupe, is a pitcher in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. One of five children with an older brother, two younger brothers and a younger sister, Chauvin chose to come to LSU Eunice because “I like the small town atmosphere. I needed a school that would help me transition from a small class C high school into college; and LSUE’s small student base makes it easy to get one-on-one attention in the class room. Also obviously the Baseball program is extremely successful.”

As a Freshman: Played in 36 games with 29 starts for the Bengals last season, finishing with a .258 batting average with two doubles …Scored 19 runs and drove in 13 RBI…On the base paths, he stole 11 bases in 15 attempts…In the field, he accumulated a .911 fielding percentage with 24 putouts. Prior to College: A native of Harahan, La., Veit attended Archbishop Rummel High School, where he was a four-year letter winner as the shortstop for the Raiders. Named an All-District, All-Metro, and All-State honorable mention during his junior and senior years, he helped lead his team to a State Runner-Up finish his senior season. His grandfather played in the Detroit Tigers organization as a pitcher. The oldest of three sons, Veit chose to come to LSU Eunice because it is “a great baseball program that will not only help me become a better baseball player, but a better person off the field as well.”

Prior to College: Prior to College: A native of Minden, La., Herrington attended Minden High School, where he was a three-time letter winner in baseball, and also a one-year letter winner in football, for the Crimson Tide. He was named first team All-District, All-District MVP and first team AllState during his senior season in which he helped lead his team to a District Championship. The second of four children with two brothers and a sister, Herrington chose to come to LSU Eunice because of “the great coaching and the chance to be able to be a part of a national championship team.”

head coach jeff willis 12th Year at LSU Eunice (532-135)

eff Willis enters his 12th season as head coach of the Bengal baseball team and 10th year as Athletic Director. The Bengal coach holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and a master’s degree in Health and Kinesiology from Texas A&M University at Kingsville. In 11 seasons at LSUE he has compiled a 532-135 record (.798 winning percentage) and has never finished ranked lower than 7th in the country. During his 11 year tenure as the Bengal coach he has received eight ABCA Diamond Regional Coach of the Year Awards, eight NJCAA Region 23 Coach of the Year Awards, seven NJCAA District Coach of the Year Awards, a Louisville Slugger Coach of the Year Award, and four NJCAA National Coach of the Year Awards. Willis has also served as the head coach of the NJCAA National Team which finished 4th in the 25th Anniversary of the Honkbal Tournament in Haarlem, Netherlands. Willis has also coached the NJCAA National Team in the summer of 2008 competing against the Chinese Taipai National Team. Willis also serves

as the Assistant Regional Director for the NJCAA Region XXIII and is on the Executive Committee for the NJCAA Coaches Association. The 2013 season saw the Bengals finish as the National Runner-up with a record of 5210. This marks the 7th time the Bengal program has captured at least a 50 win season in 11 seasons with Willis as the head coach. The 2013 season also saw the Bengals finish as an Academic All-American team for the second year in a row. The 2012 season saw the Bengal team capture their 4th National Championship in the last 8 years with a record of 57-5. In eleven years, Willis has led the Bengals to 8 Regional Championships, 7 District Championships, and 7 World Series appearances with the 4 National Championships, a National Runner-Up finish, and two 3rd place finishes. Also, every team record has been broken under the leadership of Willis. During the past 11 years, Willis has seen 113 of his players move on to four year universities. Willis has had the opportunity in

the last 10 years to coach and/or sign 45 players who have been drafted by Major League Baseball. During the same period he has coached 40 all-region players, 13 All-Americans, 2 National Defensive Players of the Year, and 1 National Player of the Year. Willis also had the joy to coach 2012 NCAA 1st Team All-American and SEC Player of the Year, Raph Rhymes, who led NCAA Division 1 baseball in hitting while also setting the season batting average record for the LSU Tigers baseball program. In 2012, Willis coached Stuart Turner who was named a 2013 NCAA 1st Team All-American and 1st Team All-SEC as a member of the Ole Miss baseball team. Turner also won the most coveted award for a catcher in College Baseball as he was named the Johnny Bench Award winner as the nation’s best collegiate catcher. Willis played two years as an infielder for the Division I, UALR Trojans after playing junior college baseball. During his two years at UALR, the Trojans qualified for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament both years and saw the team set a school record for victories in a season. Willis states, “I set high standards for student athletes on and off the field and expect them to do their best in their academics and in their citizenship as members of the campus and community. I expect our student athletes to have an attitude that they should win in everything that they do.” Willis attended Dumas High School in Dumas, TX, where he was a Mizuno High School All-American baseball player, AllState Wrestler, and All-District Football player. The Bengal coach, wife, Lindsey, and daughters Ali and Jaycie reside in Eunice.

Seventh Year at LSU Eunice

lan Orgain enters his seventh season as the assistant baseball coach (pitching coach/recruiting coordinator) at LSU Eunice. During his first season, the Bengals captured their second NJCAA National Championship. That pitching staff was highlighted by four NCAA Division I signees and was led by first-team All-American Ryan Boudreaux. In Orgain’s second season, the Bengals took third place at the NJCAA World Series. The pitching staff was led by Chance Mistric, who set a school record with 15 wins, and Joey Bourgeios, who was a 39th round draft pick by the Atlanta Braves. Orgain’s pitching staff featured three NCAA Division I signees in addition to Brennan Flick, who signed a free agent contract with the San Francisco Giants. In 2010, the Bengals won their second NJCAA National Championship in the past three years and their third overall. The pitching staff was again led by Chance Mistric who won 13 games and became a two-time NJCAA All-American. Mistric, along with Tony Dischler, Dane Amedee, and Mitchell Hopkins made up a group of four Bengal pitchers who were selected in the 2010 MLB draft. In Orgain’s fourth season, LSU Eunice finished with a record of 45-15 while making it to the championship game of the regional tournament. Three Bengal pitchers moved on to play at NCAA Division I schools including Kaleb Manuel who recorded 10 saves. Also on the staff was Josh Burris, who signed a contract as a 17th round draft pick of the Minnesota Twins. In 2012, the Bengals won their third NJ-

CAA National Championship in the past five years and their fourth overall. The pitching staff was led by Brady Wilson, who won 14 games, and Patrick Michon, who set a school record with 16 saves. Wilson and Michon led a group of six Bengal pitchers who moved on to NCAA Division I schools. Last year, LSU Eunice finished as National Runner-ups. Brady Domangue garnered a third-team All-American award leading the team in wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts. Domangue also set the school record in single season ERA and single season strikeouts. Domangue was joined by Zac Person in moving on to play at LSU, while two other Bengals continue their careers at LSU Alexandria. The staff as a whole set records for most strikeouts and opponent’s batting average. In six seasons at LSU Eunice, Orgain has helped guide the Bengals to a 309-67 overall mark. Orgain has recruited and/or coached 11 pitchers who have been drafted or signed as free-agents, 22 pitchers who have moved on to NCAA Division I schools, and 11 pitchers who have moved on to other levels of college baseball. Prior to coming to LSU Eunice, Orgain served during two successful seasons

as an assistant at San Jacinto College (Houston, Texas). In his time at San Jacinto College the Gators achieved an 82-39 overall record and back-to-back thirdplace finishes at the NJCAA World Series. In 2005, Orgain was a head coach in the New York Collegiate League, coaching in the Athletes in Action summer baseball program. Orgain’s first coaching assignment came in 2003, as a head coach in the Burkburnett (TX) Blacksox organization. Orgain, originally from Hammon, Okla., began his collegiate playing career as a left-handed pitcher at Seward County Community College (Liberal, Kan.) where he earned an Associate’s degree. At SCCC, Orgain was named Jayhawk West All-Conference as a freshman and earned the Wade Johnstone Award (Athletic and Academic Excellence) as a sophomore. Orgain spent one year at the University of Kansas (Lawrence, Kan.) before transferring to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (Chickasha, Okla.) where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Administration. assistant coach roberto vaz Second Year at LSU Eunice

oberto Vaz enters his third season as assistant baseball coach at LSU Eunice. Vaz is in charge of hitting, outfielders, base running and also assists with recruiting. In his first year, the Bengals earned their fourth NJCAA National Championship. The offense was highlighted by six NCAA Division I signees, led by All-American Dalton Herrington and Golden Glove recipient Stuart Turner. The Bengals also set school record for wins with 57 victories. In Coach Vaz’s second year, the Bengals were national runner up with a 52-10 record. The offense compiled a .311 batting average while stealing 253 bases, a school record. The offense was highlighted by five position players moving on to play at D-1 schools. In the two seasons that Coach Vaz has been with the program the Bengals have amassed a 109-15 win/loss record with one National Championship and one National runner up. The offense has a .317 average over that span while breaking records for walks, stolen bases and hit by pitches. In 2012, Vaz was hired as the head coach of the Mohawk Valley Diamond

Dawgs of the Perfect Game Collegiate League. The Diamond Dawgs set a record for wins in a season (27) and made their 1st trip to the playoffs as Mohawk Valley. In 1996, Vaz won a national championship as a member of Northeast Texas Community College team where he was the recipient of the MVP, Big Stick (top hitter) and Sportsmanship Awards (1st and only individual ever to win the awards in the same season) for the National Junior College Athletic Association. For these efforts he was selected to the Golden Anniversary All-Time World Series Team as one of the greatest JUCO players ever. In 1997, while at the University of Ala-

bama, Vaz was named First Team All-American, All-SEC 1st Team and still holds several offensive records at the university. Also in 1997, Vaz was nominated as a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award as the nation’s top collegiate baseball player. While playing at the University of Alabama, the team finished as runner-up at the College World Series in Omaha, NE. After being drafted by the Oakland A’s in the first year player’s draft in 1997, Vaz played seven years of minor league baseball including winning the Triple-A World Series in 1999 as a member of the Vancouver Canadians. Vaz played in both the Oakland A’s and Texas Rangers Minor League Organizations where he reached Triple-A.

ade Keowen begins his first year as an assistant coach with the LSU Eunice baseball team for the 2013-2014 school year, returning to Eunice after a playing career with the Bengals and a stint in the minor leagues. Keowen played at LSU Eunice in 2007 after playing two years at LSU. At LSU Eunice, Keowen finished with a .400 batting average with 16 doubles, six triples and 10 home runs, driving in 62 RBIs for the Bengals while starting and playing in all

58 games and being named a NJCAA First Team All-American outfielder in 2007 Following the season, he was drafted in the ninth round in the 2007 Major League Baseball draft by the Boston Red Sox, a mark that continues to make him the highest drafted player in LSU Eunice program history. Keowen spent three seasons in the Red Sox organization and one year with the Sussex Skyhawks of the Can-Am Independent League, where he collected a career .228 batting average

with 42 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs and 71 RBIs. After his playing career, Keowen spent two years as a high school assistant coach, at Central High in 2011 and Denham Springs in 2013, and one year as a head coach at False River Academy in 2012. He also spent the summer of 2013 as the head coach of the Louisiana All-Stars 18’s. Drafted out of high school in the 19th Round of thr 2004 Major League Draft by the Kansas City Royals, Keowen instead choose to attend LSU, where he played baseball for two years before transferring to LSU Eunice. Keowen attended Central High School in Baton Rouge, and earned his associates degree in General Studies in 2007 from LSU Eunice. He received his bachelor degree in Sports Administration from LSU in 2011.

former bengal kenny plaisance inducted into athletic hall of fame

ormer All-American pitcher Kenny Plaisance was inducted as the newest member of the LSU Eunice Bengal Hall of Fame during the annual Hall of Fame banquet on Sunday, September 15. Plaisance, who played at LSU Eunice during the 2003 and 2004 seasons, became the first athlete inducted into the Bengal Hall of Fame. He joins Curtis Joubert (2011) and Dr. Stephen Guempel (2012), who were both instrumental in beginning and supporting athletics at LSU Eunice. “Kenny had a stellar career here at LSU Eunice and is the only two-time First Team All-American in the history of LSU Eunice Athletics. He still holds many of our pitching records here as well. I credit him as one of the guys that really put LSU Eunice Baseball on the map,” LSU Eunice athletic director and baseball coach Jeff

Willis said. “What he was able to do in his two years here is really unbelievable and may never be reached. I remember the feeling of writing his name on the lineup card and knowing we were going to win because he had the ability to take the game over by himself,” Willis added. Plaisance helped the Bengals to their first Regional Championship in school history in 2003 before the team captured both the Regional and District Championships in 2004 and the program’s first trip to the NJCAA World Series, finishing third in the country. Both squads also set then-program records for victories in a season, with the 2004 team cracking the 50-win mark for the first time. On the mound, the right-hander led the Bengals’ pitching staff in wins both seasons, finishing with 25 wins, 183 career strikeouts and 21 total complete games. Plaisance’s name covers the LSU Eunice Baseball Record Book, sitting in no lower than third all-time in

His 122.2 total innings pitched during the 2004 season stands as the benchmark for Bengal pitchers, while his four shutouts in 2003 top that category as well. Plaisance’s three shutouts in 2004 are tied with four other pitchers for the second-most all-time as well. Plaisance’s name also appears twice in the complete game category, with his 2003 total of 12 the high mark and his nine during the 2004 season is tied for third all-time. His 1.41 ERA in 2003 now sits second all-time in program history after Brady Domangue posted a 1.34 ERA this past spring. Plaisance’s 14 wins in 2004 are also is tied for second in program history, while his 105 strikeouts in 2004 are the third-most all-time. Following his Bengal career, Plaisance was drafted in the 23rd Round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The LSU Eunice Bengal Hall of Fame was established in 2009 to honor outstanding athletes, teams, coaches, and supporters for their athletic performance, leadership, and team contributions. In the fall of 1999, men’s baseball and women’s basketball began competition with softball being added in the fall of 2005.

t seems the LSU Eunice baseball program has a unique relationship with even-numbered years. Since 2006, the Bengals have won the DII national championship every other year (2006, 08, 10). The year 2012 turned a similar result for LSUE as the program secured its fourth national title with a 7-3 victory over defending champion Western Oklahoma State College on June 2 at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, Okla. The Bengals got a terrific pitching performance from Cody Boutte who tossed seven innings, scattering seven hits and just three runs while striking out 11. For the tournament he was 2-0 on the hill with a 2.87 ERA, 15 strikeouts and four walks and was awarded the tourney’s Most Valuable Pitcher award. Zac Hawkins had the big stick offensively for the Bengals, driving in three runs on a 3-4 performance. Stuart Turner hit .400 for the tournament and will be remembered by LSUE fans for belting a

win the DII title after losing its first game of the tournament since the event moved to a 10-team bracket in 2009. The Bengals captured a new NJCAA record for wins in a season – with 57 victories – and set a new NJCAA mark for overall team record – finishing with a 57-5 record, a .919 winning percentage.

he Bengals of LSU Eunice added another national championship to their trophy case by defeating UCONN Avery Point (Conn.) 10-2 to win the 2010 NJCAA Division II Baseball Championship on June 5, 2010 in Enid, Okla. The national title is the second in three years for the Bengals and the third in the past

five years, all under the direction of head coach Jeff Willis. Chance Mistric picked up the win for LSUE by allowing just two runs on four hits in 6.1 innings of work. Mistric, a former US Marine, was 2-0 in Enid and ended his final season of college baseball with a 13-1

record. He was named Co-Outstanding Pitcher of the Tournament with Brett Schulick from Avery Point. Schulick recorded a win, a save and posted a 1.50 ERA in 18 innings of work in the tournament. Brook Boudreaux went 2-for-3 with four RBI’s to lead the Bengal offense in the title game. Jordan Bourque and Jacob Fisher of LSUE were named to the All-Tournament team while Gabriel Thibodeaux was named the Tournament MVP. Thibodeaux led all players with 11 hits in the tournament and also scored eight runs and drew seven walks. Avery Point scored their lone runs via the explosive bat of Tyler McIntyre who blasted a two-run homer in the seventh. McIntyre set a new Division II tournament record by hitting six home runs in six games and was named the Outstanding Hitter of the Tournament. The Bengals end their championship season at 52-13.

when Kent Burford and Ryan Norton each singled to center and after an infield error, Burford scored for a 1-0 lead. Todd Seymour singled to left with two outs and plated Norton as Lenoir held a brief two-run advantage. LSUE closed the gap to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run over the right field wall by Delta Cleary. The Bengals added three more runs in the bottom of the second as the LSUE fans began to sense a title was in their grasp. Tournament MVP Perry Smith began his 4-for-4 performance with a double to right field and scored on a sacrifice fly by Nate Peterson for a 3-1 lead. A five-run explosion in the bottom of the fourth inning gave the Bengal faithful plenty to cheer about as LSUE moved ahead 11-2. The Bengals went on to add one run in the fifth, two runs in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to grab the national title.

rett Durand tossed a complete-game, two- hit shutout to lead Louisiana State University at Eunice to a 3-0 win over three-time defending champion Grand Rapids in the national championship game of the NJCAA Division II World Series at USA Stadium on June 2, 2006. Durand allowed only two inflield hits and a walk while striking out nine in the win. Grand Rapids had gone 33 straight games in Millington (Tenn.) without being shutout, dating back to their first game ever in the World Series in 1993. Left fielder Matt Collins was the offensive hero of the night, driving in the first two runs for LSUE on a triple and single, respectively. He also made a spectacular diving catch in the outfield to keep the Raiders at bay. Matt Berard had two hits for the Bengals as well. Ben Knuth took the loss for the Raiders, as Grand Rapids finished the season with a 40-21 record overall.

The Bengals finished the season with a 52-11 record, winning the National Championship in just their seventh season of the sport.

Bengal Stadium has seen numerous expansions and renovations since being originally built. With the addition of covered batting cages, an open air pavilion and a state-of-the-art field house, Bengal Baseball provides players and fans first class facilities for viewing the games and playing the game. Opened in 1999, the field measures 320 feet along the left and right foul lines and 385 feet at center field. It is planted with Celebration Bermuda grass and over seeded with Rye grass. The field includes two concrete block dugouts, aluminum stands behind home plate and down both lines for the fans, a press box for scorekeepers and the media, and bullpens on both sides of the field. Underneath the press box is a concession stand. Lights were added to the stadium in summer 2006. Covered and lighted batting cages were added during the 2007 season. In addition to the stadium and field house, Bengal athletes have access to a weight room and Olympic sized swimming pool in the Health and Physical Education Building behind Bengal Stadium. The HPRE Building is home to Bengal Athletic administration offices. The spacious locker room located inside the field house adjacent to Bengal Stadium includes lockers for each player with ample space for team meetings. The locker room also includes couches and chairs for players to relax on while watching one of the five flat screen televisions. Bengal Stadium played host the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament in 2009 and in 2012.
