LSU FOUNDATION
Last December, LSU celebrated alumnus Roger Houston Ogden’s $12 million investment in honor of his father, the late Roger Hadfield Ogden, and son, Dr. Roger Hadfield “Field” Ogden II. The gift is the largest unrestricted endowed gift in LSU’s history and is recognized through the naming of the LSU Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College.
Dear Friends,
Thank you for your loyal support of LSU. Last year, your generosity was record-setting. Donors committed more than $193 million to advance the university, marking the highest ever level of giving during a single year. From July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015, you and your fellow donors contributed $74 million through the LSU Foundation. Not only was it the LSU development team’s most successful fundraising year, but it also included the largest planned gift ever received and the largest unrestricted endowed gift in LSU’s history. This remarkable outpouring of philanthropic support shows that LSU is both a great university and a great investment. Donors truly exemplified the generous spirit that is pervasive among supporters of the best universities in the country. As LSU moves beyond a prolonged period of budgetary challenges and embarks upon a time of growth and opportunity, your investments have a tangible impact on our continued success. Thank you for sharing our vision for making LSU a leader in all areas of academic excellence. Philanthropy makes it possible. In gratitude for your continued support,
Stephen Moret (LSU ‘95) President and CEO, LSU Foundation

Dear Friends, The 2014-15 year was an exciting one for the LSU Foundation. In addition to celebrating our most successful fundraising year, we welcomed Stephen Moret as our president and CEO. Though Stephen joined us in mid-May, as the fiscal year was coming to a close, he immediately began making what I feel certain will be an indelible mark on LSU’s philanthropic landscape. Stephen is a visionary who brings many years of diverse leadership experience and a commitment to advancing LSU that is unmatched. He is driven by a desire to enable students to have the kind of transformational LSU experience he had, making our president and CEO position the perfect bridge between his personal passion and his professional and intellectual strengths. As we look back on 2014-15, the performance of our endowed portfolios was disappointing, an outcome of downward global economic pressures (including the price of oil). However, market fluctuations are expected, and both endowed pools we manage are well-diversified in an effort to reduce risk. Endowment investing is a long-term proposition, with a goal of providing a source of perpetual funding. Portfolios have been positioned with that in mind, in an effort to achieve the returns needed to fund the outstanding people and programs supported by these dollars. On an encouraging front, the Board made significant strides to continue the work of my predecessor, Gary Laborde, who had charged our group with taking a more active role in helping LSU to realize its philanthropic potential. That will include growing the size of our Board over the coming year to welcome LSU alumni who have achieved success in a range of industries, leaders who can both diversify and strengthen the expertise represented by our members. I expect we will have much to celebrate in the year ahead, and I look forward to sharing those successes with you. On behalf of my fellow Board members, thank you for your continued generous support LSU. Forever LSU,
T. Cass Gaiennie (LSU ‘78) Chairperson of the Board of Directors

GENERAL ENDOWED PERFORMANCE July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015
22
The purpose of an endowment is to provide a source of perpetual funding. Market fluctuations are expected, making longer-term returns more relevant to consider than the returns for a particular year. Our endowed pools have performed consistently with our peers over longer timeframes, but returns for any single fiscal year have fallen in the top quartile, bottom quartile and everywhere in between. Peer return goals vary as a function of differing spending rates, administrative fees and risk tolerances; asset allocation and the resulting return in a given year will vary accordingly. The General Endowed Portfolio is composed of endowed gifts directed by donors for a wide variety of purposes, the most common of which is to fund scholarships.
Performance The rate of return for the 2015 fiscal year, ending June 30, 2015, was -0.4 percent. Annualized rates of return for this pool are: 7. 2% 3-Year Annualized
7.6% 5-Year Annualized 5.6% 10-Year Annualized

GENERAL ENDOWED ASSET ALLOCATION July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015
24
The LSU Foundation invests endowed funds that are not related to the Board of Regents Support Fund (for matched chairs and professorships) in its General Endowed Portfolio. The General Endowed Portfolio is more diversified than it has been historically, and more than the average peer. The return goal for this pool has been the same for the past five years, but we intend to achieve it with less volatility and less reliance on equity markets. The General Endowed Portfolio’s asset allocation is set forth at the sole discretion of the LSU Foundation’s Board of Directors, as advised by the internal investment staff and the external investment consultant. The asset allocation shown is as of June 30, 2015.

BOARD OF REGENTS SUPPORT FUND ASSET ALLOCATION July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015
28
As with the General Endowed Portfolio, the Board of Regents Support Fund Combined Portfolio has undergone meaningful asset allocation changes over the last five years. However, funds in this portfolio must be managed in accordance with the Board of Regents’ investment policy, which differs from the LSU Foundation’s policy for its General Endowed Portfolio. The asset allocation shown is as of June 30, 2015.
