Gray is my personal design philosophy, completed in the first semester of my senior year. Gray was a semester long project, in which writing, making, reflecting, and ideation were not only encouraged but necessary. This project provided me with an opportunity to write about how I not only see design, but how I see the world; how I see myself.
My objective with Gray was to create a mirror into my life and my design. It became a collage of past projects, personal pieces, key memories, and even experiences; all turned into simple gray images and paired with parts of my written philosophy that they best reflected. I also designed my entire book to be transparent, with the idea that one could flip through and visualize how past experiences and projects have affected me, while still seeing a glimmer of what was still yet to come. In the printed version the transparency is evident, to see examples of how that would look visit my personal website!
