ICON (International Convention 2015) I do not even know where to begin! International Convention was a blast. This year it was in Indianapolis, Indiana and it was beautiful. I met so many Key Clubbers from all around the world. I bonded and shared laughs with the district board. I also learned a lot on how to be a better LTG as well as other little things. This year it was also a Tri- K event which means that Kiwanis and Circle- K were there with us! That made it extra, extra special!

The district board went to a baseball game one night and I have to say that was one of my favorite moments. Everyone was smiling, cheering, or laughing at something. I loved being able to vote on the international level as well. No matter how long it was, it was exciting to have a voice. Next year, I hope to see you there! It is in Atlanta, Georgia and there truly isn’t any experience like it!

Each year, Key Club International holds its annual convention in which members from around the globe vote for our international positions, amend bylaws, and enjoy the convention as key clubbers, regardless of position. This year's ICON marked the Kiwanis centennial, as well as the ninetieth anniversary of our amazing organization. As a member attending the convention, I was at first anxious to experience the convention. Several fellow Key Clubbers from my school attended, yet due to the difference in positions I was worried that there would be a boundary separating me from the District Board members. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself surrounded by friends soon after arriving in Indianapolis. I had the incredible opportunity to attend meaningful workshops, which allowed me to bring back crucial information to my club. I gained much insight and knowledge into processes that had been mysterious to me previously, and after the convention I felt enlightened. It wasn't all work though; many memories were of enjoyable events, conversations, and of course, delicious food. Attending the convention is something that I believe should be more common in our district, as it really is a life changing experience. There is no doubt in my mind that next year I will be in Atlanta, Georgia for the next convention, and while it may be my last International Convention as a Key Clubber, I am certain I will continue this tradition throughout my time in Circle K, and eventually Kiwanis. -

The Thirst Project As you know, the Thirst Project is our district charity. Last month I had a challenge to make a video however no one participated so Zarina from Lindenhurst and Vienna from Pat Med helped me make one at our July Divisional. The Thirst Project is a student led organization and 100% of its donations go to building wells .

One mission they are on is to give clean water to Swaziland by 2022. We can do it!! Clean water gives opportunities. It gives education. It gives community. It gives hope. Make your mark by finding more information at thethirstproject.org.

The Governor’s Project As you may know, the Governor's Project this year is hunger. I am also a big fighter for the cause of hunger! Hunger affects more people around you than you might know. Hunger is not only in "third world countries" or "the projects". It is happening right now right in your own backyard. We complain when we don't get food for an hour or two, but can you imagine only getting one meal a day if you are lucky?! It is hard to think about, especially when you can go to the fridge or cabinet whenever you want. The positive side to this is that there is so many ways that you can make a difference in the hunger epidemic! To begin, I urge you to volunteer at your local food bank. This is a very rewarding experience and it really puts you in touch with a different side of your community. There is also different nonprofits such as No Kid Hungry or Feeding America which is my project as Lieutenant Governor. These non-profits can benefit the fight against hunger on a global scale and you can get involved by going to their websites. Again, hunger is a big issue and YOU ARE THE SOLUTION! Now get out there and make a change!
