Co-Chair’s Message
Drew Michel
Much of 2010 was a terrible year for those in our industry. The loss of life, environmental devastation and loss of jobs and company revenues caused by the Macondo blowout last April was bad enough, but the decision of the current administration to punish an industry for the actions of a few continues beyond anything comprehensible to hurt those who count on US offshore oil and gas for their livelihood. The country’s overall slow economy and resulting cutbacks have caused those who work on non O&G offshore and inshore projects similar hardships. In light of this, we who organize UI each year and the young people who receive scholarships and benefit from other programs paid for with the revenue from UI would like to offer our special thanks for your participation in what is shaping up to be an outstanding UI 2011 program. We also sincerely hope UI continues to help you reach your professional and monetary goals and that you find some enjoyment and amusement in our New Orleans venue.
