Happy New Year Sorors! I feel blessed and privileged to serve as your Basileus during 20142015. Lambda Tau Omega is filled with talented, resourceful, and hardworking sorors from diverse backgrounds, careers, and positions in life. Each one of us has a special gift to share. The beauty of this is we all work together to do great things for our community. This is evidenced by the types of services we provide through our programs. During our implementation of, “Global leadership throuGh timeless service”, we have masterfully desiGned spectacular, award-winning programs that have left a positive effect on those we serve. Through all of your effort and tenacity, we can truly say we are a service to all mankind. My theme is taken from a quote by poet maya anGelou, (…our diversity is our beauty and our strength). My vision is that we continue to use our shared strengths and diversity to make our great chapter even better. I am convinced that we have only begun to tap all the talents and resources our chapter members possess. Just think how powerful we would be when we do! Just think how much more we can serve our community.

READY TO SERVE

GREETINGS FROM SOME OF OUR NEW OFFICERS AND CHAIRMEN!

It is truly a privilege and honor for me to be afforded the opportunity to serve in a leadership position as AntiBasileus of Lambda Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I extend to each of you my heartfelt thanks. My primary motivation is clearly stated in our organizations Purpose, “…, to be of service to all mankind.” Our Mission Statement” serves as the compass which points us in the right direction, keeps us on course and serves as a filter for new ideas. There is much work to be done and each of us has to decide if we will be spectators or whether we will exercise leadership in shaping the course of and outcome of our great sisterhood. While mission is what we do, character is how we do it. Character comes from within and is manifested by honesty, hard work, sensitivity, courage, trust, respect and love. Character proves to others the seriousness of one’s commitment and expresses their interest in getting the job done. Our chapter is blessed with diversity which is an asset rather than a liability. Let us learn to build on the strengths of each other and value the uniqueness of a perspective different than our own. As we examine our membership, let us be mindful of the gifts and potential of each member. While you may not have the gift of leadership, you might be blessed with the gift of “helps” and therefore be able to help a leader do a better job. There is value in investing in strong, healthy relationships with each other; this investment will result in priceless dividends in realizing our purpose. Let us be mindful of how we relate to each other as sorors and remember to keep the purpose of our organization ahead of personal ambition. I welcome your help in making me a better leader. May God bless and keep you. Sincerely, Barbara J. Pearson-McCreary, M.D., M.A.

Greetings Sorors!!! 2014 is going to be an exhilarating year for Lambda Tau Omega. According to Ecclesiastics 3:1 KJV ‘To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven’…As we enter 2014 and I begin to celebrate my Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc. ‘SILVER’ anniversary this year, I believe the time has come and this is my season to serve As your Tamiouchos. As a member of Lambda Tau Omega for over 16 years, I have had the pleasure to serve in A variety of offices as well serve on and/or chair numerous committees. Thank you once Again sorors for selecting me as Lambda Tau Omega’s 2013 Soror of The Year. As Tamiouchos, I, along with the members of the financial team plan to receive, receipt And deposit all funds received in a timely manner. In addition, with the approval of the chapter and proper documentation, the expenses of the chapter will be paid. You will also receive monthly reports concerning the financial status of this chapter. Your 2014 Financial Team Consist of the Following Sorors: • Tamiouchos - Sarah Lewis-Weaver • Anti-Tamiouchos Carol Sharp • Pecunious Grammateus - Marva Campbell-Pruitt • Anti-Pecunious Grammateus – Joyce Duke We look forward to working with each of you.

I extend New Year Greetings to each of you! In doing so, know that I wish to start by stating how thankful I am that you selected me to serve in the highly important role as Financial Secretary. I promise, and I avow to serve you in the greatest capacity possible! You selected a person who has been in the Chapter for a mere seven years. I came in running and willing to serve! By stoking up the grill for a Chapter picnic two weeks upon my arrival, I think I floored our sorors and continue to do so by the resources that I carry in my vehicle, as somehow, I usually deliver what is needed at the time. I have since served in many capacities, including and serving on many major fundraising events, but the one area most remarkable for me is being privileged to chair our overall Mentor Programs, which was key during one particular International Programs initiative, under the leadership of Soror Rose Butler-Hayes. Moving forward . . . the role that I intend to play, as Pecunious Grammateus is not only to meet the tenets of our bylaws which is to receive all monies for the chapter, issue receipts, and pass all monies to Soror Sarah Lewis-Weaver, Tamiouchos and/or Anti Tamiouchos, Soror Carol Sharp. I am responsible for providing voucher forms for you and certain reports to the Corporate Office! I am elated to continue to serve on the Finance Team. I endeavor to support you by offering up the following new procedures: 1. This office will now provide to you, our membership, an updated monthly report that will reflect any funds submitted to this office. You can access this monthly report via our regular monthly reporting process, and we intend it to be an agenda item at Chapter Meetings. 2. This office will continue the current processes, and will explore mechanisms to insure that our Chapter’s use of the Quick Books application will meet your needs in terms of providing you live time reporting of your contributions. 3. We know how important it is to you that you can be attuned to the agenda items and the speakers, therefore, I plan to arrive to the meetings thirty minutes prior so that you may transact any financial details required of me. I appreciate your confidence in me and I stand ready to serve you! Soror Marva Campbell-Pruitt

We give you praise, O God, for everything that is new and beautiful, for everything which holds promise and brings us joy. Bless us as we start this New Year with our Sorority, and all those who come together to support the extended ministry through Alpha Kappa Alpha. Help us to make the most of every chance we have to start afresh not only in ideas and concepts, but with one another. May we show love to one another and to all. May the new beginning of this New Year remind us that you give us chances to start over again and again. Help us to forgive others as we receive your forgiveness. Help us to learn, grow and to work together. Help us to listen when we should and to know the best words when we speak and when it is better not to speak. We thank you for our Sorors locally and globally Help us to be good friends and Sorors this year and beyond. Help us to be patient and kind with ourselves and with others. Help us to be aware of your love shown to us in the people around us. Bless all those who care for us; At work, school and at home.
