A Word from the President New building means more innovation says LSI President Chris Gabrelcik. People ask “why does innovation live at LSI?” It’s simple, it’s what we like doing most. We get more excited about coming up with a solution to a problem than we do hitting a sales goal. We built the company based on finding solutions. The roots of the company are based on innovation and providing solutions to problems. The motivation of our competitors is ‘’are we going to make a profit.’’ Ours is ‘‘did we fix the problem’’ and that’s the difference. If the product won’t sell, our competitors won’t produce it. LSI doesn’t just create products to sell, we create products that will fix the problem, regardless of how many bottles we will sell.
How will the new facility affect innovation? More space; more space means more people, more equipment, improved testing facilities, and it’s safer. It also gives us an opportunity to record what we do and share it with customers and other clients so they can see the results of our products. In 5 years we expect to see even more expansion; we want to be tackling worldwide engine problems by then. There will be expansion to the mechanical side of the engine too and solutions provided to common mechanical problems. We are excited to take on the next generation of engine problems and provide quality solutions for those problems. It all starts with innovation.

DEALER NEWS from Hot Latest Tips, Tricks and Insights to Leverage Your Hot Shot’s Why you should be carrying and selling a ton of Everyday Diesel Treatment. The more you know the more you sell! It says it right in the name “Everyday” Diesel Treatment. This is a product that has potential to move off the shelves all year long and fast! Your advantage is diesel truck’s disadvantage … Ultra-Low Sulfur Fuel (ULSF). Ultra-Low Sulfur Fuel is extremely inconstant from fuel station to fuel station. ULSF is extremely dry, the lack of lubricant in the fuel over time damages the fuel system of the truck. EDT is a high quality fuel additive that lubricates the ULSF and
EDT is available in a 4 oz. round, a 16 oz. round and a 16 oz. squeeze bottle
has chemical agents that make the worst quality diesel fuel into a premium fuel. Along with an added cetane boost. These benefits combine to not only protect a truck from dangers of ULSF, but also improve the efficiency of the truck, improving fuel mileage. Once your customers use EDT and see the benefits they’ll be back time and time again. We recommend your customers clean out their entire fuel system with a treatment of Diesel Extreme before using Everyday Diesel Treatment. Another advantage to selling EDT is that no major retailer carries EDT. This allows you to carry something the other guys don’t have. As long as Ultra-Low Sulfur Fuel is around, there will be a need for EDT. Most diesel owners are unaware of the damages caused by ULSF, once you make them aware and they experience the benefits of EDT first hand they’ll be back on a regular basis. They won’t want to fill up without it!
Once your customers use it, they will be back time and time again!

Decrease Regeneration Cycles Test Results: City of Columbus, Ohio Lubrication Specialties, Inc. has performed extensive product testing on class 3-6 trucks associated with the City of Columbus. This test was intended to reduce service costs of regeneration cycles for the city. The following report highlights the service records of a 2008 Freightliner (M2-106-TA) with 132,009 miles between May 15th and September 30th, 2015. The tests were performed over a period of 5,000 miles, and 400 hours of run time. This same procedure was performed on various Freightliners, C7500 Kodiaks and Peterbilts, as well as a 2013 F-550 6.7L

A regeneration cycle consists of cleaning out the soot residue from a truck’s diesel particulate filter (DPF). This can be achieved through either a passive or active regeneration process. During a regeneration cycle, excess fuel is metered into the combustion chamber to increase the temperature of the exhaust in order to burn off soot. If the soot

If regens are performed more frequently than the manufacturer intended, the engine oil will begin to become diluted with excess fuel that makes its way past the rings. Based on analysis, fuel dilution was the main problem the City of Columbus trucks were facing as a result of the frequent regeneration cycles. By using Hot Shot’s Secret fuel additives, regeneration cycles were decreased from 3 times every month to once every two months. Along with eliminating the problem of fuel dilution, the annual regeneration costs were dramatically decreased. It is evident that the Hot Shot’s Secret products had a dramatic effect on the performance of this truck.

From the Lab Ultra-Low Sulfur Fuel
E
Public Enemy #1
ver since the EPA mandated that all highway diesel fuel vehicles must use Ultra-Low Sulfur Fuel (ULSF) there have been problems. Diesel engines need to be lubricated on the fuel side, from the fuel tank to the injectors. ULSF is very dry, it does not provide the lubrication High Sulfur Fuel used to provide.
Use an additive to replace sulfur
Many Fleet Managers will tell you that an additive must be used with ULSF if you want your truck to be performing like it was designed to. Another common issue caused by ULSF is corrosion. All the metal parts touched by ULSF will eventually corrode. This corrosion is caused by the aggressive chemicals put into the ULSF. To combat the problems caused by Ultra-Low Sulfur Fuel you need to treat your fuel with an additive designed to lubricate and protect your fuel system. Only a few additives on the market are designed to do both. Hot Shot’s Secret has designed a fuel additive for everyday use. Everyday Diesel Treatment was designed to combat the inconsistencies in ULSF and prevent damage caused by ULSF. Everyday Diesel Treatment provides a cetane boost, lubricating agents, and also protects the fuel system from corrosion caused by ULSF and, as the name implies, it’s safe to use every day. EDT is another example of how Lubrication Specialties finds a problem in the diesel industry, then provides the solution for that problem.

First, let’s take a look at the basics. A cetane number of 40 will get you from point A to B fairly well. Cetane number is a measure of the fuels combustion efficiency, thus the higher the number
The primary benefit for a higher cetane number is reduced emissions, although there is known to be a possibility for improved fuel economy as well. plugging, low cetane number, thermal stability, and
The tank where your fuel was being stored before being pumped into your vehicle may have had standing water in the bottom. All fuel contains entrained water, but the problems begin when the fuel reaches its saturation point and releases the water to the bottom of your tank. This will create a breeding ground for humbugs (commonly called bacteria or algae). The bugs live at the interface of fuel and water and reproduce exponentially under ideal conditions. They receive their food from the hydrocarbon (diesel fuel) and their oxygen from the water (H2O). They not only can infest your fuel tank and, under extreme circumstances, your engine crankcase causing, at the very least, premature filter plugging, but they produce an acid which is very corrosive and abrasive. Not treating your fuel storage tanks for humbugs is not proactive and results in a very expensive loss of production. The advent of biodiesel has also led to certain problems. Those biodiesel suppliers who have yet to master the low temperature storage challenges associated with bio have created additional challenges for the end user. The one thing monoglycerides like those found in biodiesel have in common with one another, even in different feedstocks–is that they can clog diesel fuel filters. They will appear on the filter as a waxy, thick coating. Finally, of course, fuel gelling is still one of the primary winter fuel concerns. Lowering the pour point and the CFPP (cold filter plug
lubricity in a world where diesel fuel can vary so much? The truth is that it’s not easy for someone in the field who is faced with a truck that isn’t running and just needs the problem to go away to diagnose the actual cause of the problem. However, you CAN take control of your fuel maintenance program (or create one if you haven’t already). Chemically altering your regular #2 diesel fuel into a premium diesel is the most effective and cost-effective way to improve your fuel program and avoid costly downtime. One treatment of our Hot Shot’s Secret Diesel Extreme will eliminate water deposits caused by the lower thermal stability of inferior fuels, and injector deposits such as asphaltenes that are prematurely plugging your filters. Internal diesel injector deposit problems can only be eliminated by using a fuel treatment with a specific detergent package, like the one found in our HSS Diesel Extreme. Most fuel treatments do not contain this injector detergent package. Regular use of EDT and DWAG will help to maintain your fuel system by eliminating water problems and associated humbugs, raising your cetane number by at least 5 numbers to improve power, fuel economy, and decrease regen intervals. Your fuel’s thermal stability will be greatly improved by the regular use of EDT and DWAG, thus greatly reducing the potential for fuel system deposits. We make it easy by offering our HSS fuel products for both bulk treatments and small package sizes for those buying their fuel on the road.
