Lucania Film Festival. “OLTRE i confini”. Così denominata in onore di Guglielmo Marconi, dal marzo del 1939 fino al settembre del 1943, la colonia di Marconia di Pisticci ospitò decine di confinati politici. Un’area demaniale lasciata completamente a se stessa per anni e anni prese così a vivere, all’improvviso, in seguito ad un’operazione di per sé negativa e coercitiva come la costituzione di un luogo di confino politico. Con l’inizio dei lavori di disboscamento e di bonifica, in quell’ immenso bosco di salici del comune di Pisticci sorse allora un villaggio agricolo, con le case per i carabinieri, il comando della Mvsn, l’ufficio postale, le botteghe, la chiesa, il carcere, il magazzino, lo spaccio e, ovviamente, i capannoni in cui avrebbero abitato i confinati. Quello che era considerato un non-luogo d’un tratto assunse la forma di un iper-luogo, nel quale, ancora oggi, l’eco di quella storia trascina con sé un insegnamento di vita da raccogliere, custodire e valorizzare. Dal giorno dell’arrivo del primo prigioniero presso la colonia ad oggi sono trascorsi esattamente 74 anni. La storia, nel frattempo, ha fatto il suo corso: molte cose sono cambiate, alcune sono rimaste invariate e, forse, rimarranno immutate per sempre. Figli di quel passato, eredi di una memoria che non si può non tramandare, i soci di Allelammie hanno deciso un paio di anni fa, e per diverse ponderate ragioni, di trasferire il Lucania Film Festival presso il Centro per la creatività TILT, nel cuore di Marconia. Settant’anni fa quei confinati politici, che avevano lavorato così duramente da far vincere alla propria colonia il primo premio per “la battaglia del grano”, avevano reso vano il progetto di “rieducazione fascista”, finendo quasi tutti, dopo l’8 settembre, tra le fila partigiane. Oggi, con le necessarie distinzioni e le dovute differenziazioni, un gruppo di giovani e meno giovani operatori culturali locali, “confinati” in un territorio ancora poco fertile, lavora strenuamente perché il proprio piccolo, ma solido festival internazionale di cinema possa perdurare e crescere edizione dopo edizione. Oggi, come sempre, il Lucania Film Festival ha l’onere e l’onore di raccontare sui propri schermi le storie di uomini e donne qualunque che, da una parte all’altra del mondo, vivono le proprie r-esistenze con estrema dignità, facendosi guidare, nel proprio cammino, dall’amore per la Vita e per una vita libera. Se i confinati a Marconia, come quelli delle varie colonie d’Italia, erano stati imprigionati in nome della negazione della libertà e, una volta finito il confino, avevano combattuto perché la libertà propria e di ciascun italiano venisse nuovamente garantita in modo incondizionato, i protagonisti delle narrazioni audiovisive della 18° edizione del LFF combattono, quotidianamente e nel proprio piccolo, in nome del sacrosanto diritto di ciascuno ad autodeterminarsi con consapevolezza, perseguendo ogni giorno, con coraggio e determinazione, la propria personale strada verso la felicità. Qualcuno di loro finisce per diventare, forse involontariamente, un eroe, qualcun altro riesce a mala pena a trasformare e di poco la propria realtà, ma tutti danno il loro contributo al processo evolutivo, sovra-narrativo e sovra-storico, dell’Umanità, nella misura in cui lo sguardo e l’approccio alla vita dello spettatore che si avvicinerà con reale curiosità, interesse ed attenzione alle loro storie verrà irrimediabilmente modificato al loro passaggio sugli schermi della felicità del Lucania Film Festival, che si tiene ancora una volta a Marconia di Pisticci, nel cuore di una delle colonie di prigionia politica più dinamiche ed eversive del Ventennio. Dal 9 al 13 agosto il LFF abita un luogo di confino, intenzionato ieri come oggi, oggi più di ieri, ad andare, grazie al cinema, oltre i confini, come fa l’astronauta protagonista del concept di questa edizione, che, perso nello Spazio alla ricerca dell’Altro e di Altri mondi possibili, si ritrova a viaggiare nella profondità di se stesso. Quali stelle migliori, allora, ad illuminare il firmamento del festival quest’anno se non Giancarlo Giannini e Mohsen Makhmalbaf ? Giannini, con la sua maestria attoriale, è riuscito a far conoscere ed amare l’Italia e il cinema italiano oltre i confini nazionali. Makhmalbaf, regista attivista finito in prigione da giovane e costretto all’esilio da adulto, con la sua vita e con la sua professione ha sempre difeso la Bellezza e la Libertà, andando al di là dei confini di una cella, fuoriuscendo dai confini del proprio Paese e venendo accolto, da esule, dentro i confini di un Paese straniero. Lucania Film Festival. “BEYOND the boundaries”. So called in honour of Guglielmo Marconi, from March 1939 to September 1943, the colony of Marconia di Pisticci hosted dozens of political confined.A state-owned area which had been abandoned for years came suddenly alive as a consequence of an operation, negative and coercive in itself, like the arrangement of a place for the confinement of political opponents. With the starting of the works of deforestation and territory reclamation , in that enormous forest of willows, under the jurisdiction of the town of Pisticci, a rural village rose up. It had houses for police, the command of Mvsn (Voluntary Militia for National Security), a post office, small shops, a church, a prison, a warehouse, a factory outlet and, clearly, the houses in which the political confined would have lived. That place which had been long considered as a non-place suddenly became an iper-place, in which a life lesson that one should learn, cherish and enhance is carried still today by the echo of that history. Since the day of the first prisoner’s arrival at the colony until today, exaclty 74 years have passed by. In the meanwhile the history has taken its course: many things have changed, many others have remained unchanged and will probably stay unchanged forever. Sons and daughters of that past, heirs of a memory which has to be passed on, the members of the association “Alle lammie” basing on a series of thought out reasons, a couple of years ago decided to move the Lucania Film Festival to the Centre for Creativity, TILT, in the heart of Marconia. Seventy years ago those political confined who worked so hard that they won the first prize for their colony in “ the battle for grain”, made the “fascist rehabilitation” programme useless, since they almost all joined, after the 8th of September, the partisan formations. Today, with the necessary distinctions and the due differentiations, a group of young and less young local cultural operators, confined in a territory which is still not really fertile, works hard so that its small but strong international festival of cinema could endure and grow year after year. Today, as always, the Lucania Film Festival has the responsibility and the honour of telling on its screens the stories of common men and women from all around the world, who live their own resistances and re-existences with extreme dignity, making the love for life and for freedom leading them in the way. The political confined in Marconia, and all those confined in the other fascist colonies in Italy, had been imprisoned in the name of freedom denial and, after their period of confinement, had been fighting in order to guarantee, again and at no conditions, freedom for them and for all the Italians. In their own small way the main characters of the audiovisual narrations of the 18th edition of LFF just like them, fight every day in the name of everybody’s inviolable right to conscious self-determination, chasing day after day their way to happiness with courage and dedication. Some of them ended up being, maybe accidentally, heroes, some others barely succeeded in transforming, and just slightly, their own reality, but all of them contributed in the super- narrative and super-historical evolutionary process of Humanity to the extent that the view and the approach to life of the spectator will be interested in their stories with real curiosity, interest and attention will be irremediably changed by their passage on the screens of happiness of LFF, held once again in Marconia di Pisticci, in the heart of one of the most dynamic and subversive colony of confinement in the twenty-year period of Fascist rule . From the 9th to the 13th of August the LFF will have its dwelling in a place of confinement, its intention just like in the past,, will be going, thanks to the cinema, beyond the boundaries, as the astronaut, main character of the concept of this edition, does. Lost in the Space looking for the Other and for other possible worlds he ends up travelling deep inside himself. Who could possibly be a better star than Giancarlo Giannini and Mohsen Makhmalbaf to make the firmament of this year’s festival shine then? Giannini, with his excellent skills as an actor, succeeded in making Italy and Italian cinema known and loved beyond national boundaries. Makhmalbaf, director and activist who ended up in jail at a young age and was forced into exile when he was an adult, has always defended with his life and with his profession beauty and freedom, going beyond the boundaries of a jail cell, out of the boundaries of his own country and, while exiled, being welcomed inside the boundaries of a foreign country.

Reneè Beaulieu (Canada). Laureata all’INIS (Istituto del Quebec per l’immagine e il suono) con un master in “Letteratura del Quebec”, un dottorato in “Studi cinematografici” all’Università Laval e una laurea in “Farmacia” (BPharm) all’Università di Montreal, Renèe Beaulieu ha scritto, sviluppato e prodotto molti cortometraggi che sono stati proiettati in diversi festival e ha scritto TV show per l’infanzia e alcune docufiction. Ha anche scritto e diretto l’opera “La Fin des contes pour enfant” e pubblicato piccole storie e poesie. Insegna di sceneggiatura e di produzione cinematografica all’Università di Montreal, nel 2015, Renée ha scritto e dirige “Le Garagiste”, il suo primo lungometraggio come regista; che ha anche montato e coprodotto con Ian Quenneville and Ian Oliveri. Il film è stato proiettato in diversi festival e ha vinto alcuni premi internazionali. Nel 2007 ha scritto la sceneggiatura per il lungometraggio “Le Ring”, che è stato proiettato in diversi festival tra cui quello di Berlino e quello di Busan, in Corea del Sud, ottenendo diversi premi internazionali. Reneè Beaulieu (Canada). A graduate of INIS [Quebec institute of image and sound], with a master’s degree in “Quebec literature”, a doctorate in “Film studies” from Université Laval and a pharmacy degree (BPharm) from the Université de Montréal, Renée Beaulieu has written, developed and produced many shorts that have been shown at festivals, and written for children’s television shows and some docufiction. She also wrote and directed the play “La Fin des contes”pour enfant” and has published short stories and poetry. She teaches screenwriting and film production at the Université de Montréal and serves as a film script doctor. In 2015, Renée wrote “Le Garagiste”, there is her first feature-length film as a director; she also edited it, and coproduced with Ian Quenneville and Ian Oliveri. The film was shown at a number of festivals and won several international awards. In 2007, she wrote the script for the feature-length film “Le Ring”, which was shown at a number of festivals, including those in Berlin, Germany, and Busan, South Korea, and garnered several international awards.

Irene Dionisio (Italia) è nata nel 1986. Laureata in “Filosofia estetica e sociale” all’Università di Torino, ha frequentato il master in “Documentarismo” diretto da Daniele Segre e Marco Bellocchio, e il master IED diretto da Alina Marazzi. Attraverso l’associazione Fluxlab, di cui è socia fondatrice, cura progetti culturali e artistici su tematiche quali l’integrazione, le politiche culturali e le questioni di genere. La sua produzione artistica include videoinstallazioni e documentari, fra cui “Sponde”. “Nel sicuro sole del nord” (2015) e “La fabbrica è piena. Tragicommedia in otto atti” (2011). “Le ultime cose” (2016) è il suo primo lungometraggio di finzione. Irene Dionisio (Italy) Irene Dionisio was born in 1986. She has a degree in aesthetical and social philosophy from Torino University, has attended the Master’s course of Documentarism headed by Daniele Segre and Marco Bellocchio, and the IED Master headed by Alina Marazzi. Along with the association Fluxlab, of which she is a founder, she manages cultural and artistic projects in areas like integration, cultural politics and gender questions. Her artistic production includes video installations and documentaries such as Sponde [Shores], “Nel sicuro sole del Nord” (in the safe sun of the North) [2015] and “La fabbrica è piena. Tragicommedia in otto atti” (the factory is full. An eight acts tragicomedy). “Le ultime cose” [2016] (The Last Things) is her first fiction feature film.

Annete Dujisin (Portugal). Dopo un percorso di ricerca (storia contemporanea) che ne definisce un fondamentale background, Anette comincia a lavorare nel cinema come aiuto regista di Corso Salani, con cui collabora per un decennio. Dopo questa collaborazione ha iniziato a lavorare nell’ambito dei festival cinematografici. E’ programmatrice della Settimana della Critica di Venezia e coordina il work-in-progress per documentari al forum di co-produzione “When East Meets West”. E’ altresì programmatrice della Festa del Cinema Italiano, rassegna che si realizza nei principali paesi lusofoni. E’ tra i promotori del lancio della piattaforma VoD di cinema indipendente in Portogallo, la “Filmin Portugal”. Annete Dujisin (Portugal). After conducting a research path in Contemporary History, that helped defining her basic background, Annette started working in cinema as assistant director of Corso Salani with whom she has been collaborating for a decade. After this collaboration she started working in the field of film festivals. She is the programming assistant at Venice International Film Critics’ Week and coordinator of the work in progress section for documentaries atWhen East Meets West co-production forum. She is the programming assistant of the festival Festa del Cinema Italiano organised in the main Portuguese speaking countries. Besides, she is one of the promoters of the launch of the VoD platform of independent cinema in Portugal, “Filmin Portugal”.

Emanuele Vernillo (Italy). Diplomato nel 2007 alla scuola di documentario ZeLIG di Bolzano in Montaggio, ha ricoperto diversi ruoli nella produzione e post-produzione cinematografica. È stato assistente al montaggio per Stefano Savona (‘Palazzo delle Aquile’, miglior documentario al festival Cinema du Reel del 2013) e assistente alla regia per Abel Ferrara (‘Napoli, Napoli, Napoli’), e assistente per alcuni cameraman della ZDF e della ORF. È stato fonico di presa diretta e assistente alla post-produzione per il film ‘La Bocca del Lupo’ di Pietro Marcello, che ha ricevuto diversi riconoscimenti in Italia e all’estero, tra cui il Premio come Miglior Film al 27.mo Torino Film Festival (primo film italiano a ricevere il premio nella storia del festival), il Teddy Award e il Premio Caligari alla Berlinale del 2010 e il David di Donatello 2010 come miglior documentario di lungometraggio. È stato aiuto regia di Pietro Marcello per ‘Il Silenzio di Pelesjan’ (presentato fuori concorso alla Mostra Internazionale del Cinema di Venezia del 2011) e organizzatore generale per il film, sempre di Pietro Marcello, ‘Bella e Perduta’, presentato in Concorso Internazionale al Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Locarno del 2015 e nella sezione ‘Wavelenghts’ del 2015 del Toronto Film Festival. È stato regista di due cortometraggi, “La città immaginata” e “Un buio perfetto”, realizzati insieme a un gruppo di migranti di un laboratorio di lingua a Napoli, per i quali ha vinto il Premio come Miglior Cortometraggio nella sezione Migranti del Festival Internazionale del Cortometraggio di Napoli ”O Curt’. È stato ancora assistente alla regia e alla produzione per alcune fiction tv (‘Un Passo dal Cielo’ e ‘La Squadra’). Attualmente lavora come tutor didattico alla ZeLIG – Scuola di documentario, televisione e nuovi media di Bolzano, una delle principali istituzioni formative nel campo di documentario in Europa, per la quale si occupa inoltre della produzione e distribuzione dei film ivi prodotti. Emanuele Vernillo (Italy). Graduated in 2007 at ZeLIG Documentary School in Bolzano with a degree in editing, has held several roles in both cinema production and postproduction. He has been the editing assistant of Stefano Savona [Palazzo delle Aquile, “Eagles Palace”, best documentary at Cinema Du Reel Festival in 2013], director assistant of Abel Ferrara (‘Napoli, Napoli, Napoli”) and assistant to several cameramen from ZDF and ORF. Competition at the International Locarno Film Festival in 2015 and in the “Wavelength” section at 2015 Toronto Film Festival. He has directed two shorts movies, “La città immaginata” (The imaginary Town) and “Un buio perfetto” (A perfect Darkness), realized with a group of migrants from a language laboratory in Naples, for which he won the Best Short Movie Award in the Migrants Section at International Naples Short Movie Festival ”O Curt’. He also has been director and production assistant to some tv fictions (‘Un Passo dal Cielo’ - One Step from Heaven and ‘La Squadra’ - The team). Right now he works as didactic tutor at ZeLIG Documentary, Television and New Media School in Bolzano, one of the main formative institutes in Europe for the documentary field, for which he also supervises the production and distribution of the films produced there.

La storica sezione del LFF ancora una volta si presenta con una visione del mondo cruda ed impietosa. Visioni spietate, ma anche meravigliose. Occhi innocenti per un mondo che ha bisogno di redenzione estetica e di valori.

BARTOSZ KRUHLI Biografia / Biography: Nato nel 1985, si è diplomato in “Regia” alla The National Film School di Lodz. I suoi film sono stati mostrati più di 500 volte in festival del cinema di tutto il mondo, ricevendo quasi 150 premi. I principali eventi a cui ha partecipato: San Sebastian IFF, Karlovy Vary IFF, Montreal WFF, Sarajevo FF, IDFA. Nel 2013 ha ricevuto il Premio dal Ministero della Cultura per i suoi eccezzionali traguardi artistici. Dal 2014 è autore di premiati spot social. Un giorno farà un film sugli scacchi in stile “Whiplash”.

Born in 1985. He graduated in film directing at The National Film School in Lodz. His films have been shown over 500 times at film festivals all over the world and got nearly 150 awards. LAETITIA MARTINUCCI Biografia / Biography: Appassionata di arti dello spettacolo, Laetitia ha iniziato come attrice in una compagnia teatrale viaggiante e come ballerina di coreografie improvvisate. Ha conseguito la laurea in Arti dello spettacolo con una specializzazione in danza hip-hop dalla strada al palcoscenico. Successivamente si è lanciata in nuove avventure scoprendo un’altra arte: il cinema. Come attrice ha partecipato a diversi cortometraggi che le hanno fatto guadagnare una nomination come Young Hope Award al Festival Jean Carmet con il film Agathe & Lou, e un Best Interpretation Award al Vaughan Film Festival. Nel frattempo ha partecipato alla stesura della sceneggiatura di Omessa, che ha vinto il terzo posto al contest Med In Scenario a Corte. Questo premio ha creato nuove opportunità dandole la possibilità di partecipare l’anno successivo con la sua prima sceneggiatura: “Blue-Grey”. La sceneggiatura ha vinto il primo premio con un pre-acquisto da parte di France 2. Prodotto nel 2016 da Les Films du Cygne, “Blue-Grey” è il suo primo film da regista.

Passionate about Performing Arts, Laetitia started off as an actress in a traveling Theater Company, and as a dancer of improvised choreography creations. She got her Master’s Degree in Performing Arts with a specialization in hip-hop dance from arena of the street on to the stage. Then she threw herself in a new adventure by discovering another art: Film. As an actress, she participated in various short films, which got her a nomination for Young Hope Award at the Festival Jean Carmet in the film Agathe & Lou, and a Best Interpretation Award at Vaughan Film Festival. ENA SENDIJAREVIC Biografia / Biography: Ena Sendijarević è una regista bosniaca che lavora ad Amsterdam. Ha studiato Film Studies all’università di Amsterdam e alla Freie Universität di Berlino, prima di laurearsi alla Netherlands Film Academy come scrittrice/regista nel 2014. Ha scritto e diretto diversi cortometraggi premiati come “Travellers into the night” (2013) e “Fernweh” (2014), i quali sono stati proiettati in diversi film festival internazionali. Il suo ultimo corto, “Import” (2016), è stato mostrato in anteprima nell’ambito della selezione Quinzaine des Réalisateurs del Festival di Cannes 2016. attualmente Ena sta lavorando al suo primo lungometraggio.

Ena Sendijarević is an Amsterdam based, Bosnian filmmaker. She studied Film Studies at the University of Amsterdam and the Freie Universität Berlin, before graduating from the Netherlands Film Academy as a writer/director in 2014. She wrote and directed several awarded short films, including “Travellers into the night” (2013) and “Fernweh” (2014), which have been shown at numerous international filmfestivals. Her latest short, “Import” (2016), premiered at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs selection of the Cannes Film festival 2016. Ena is currently working on her debut feature project.

A young Bosnian refugee family ends up in a small village in the Netherlands after getting a residence permit in 1994. Absurd situations arise as they are trying to make this new world their home.

XAVIER SERON Biografia / Biography: Dopo gli studi in “Legge” entra allo IAD (Belgio) nel 2001. Nel 2005, “Rien d’Insoluble”, il suo film di fine corso, viene selezionato in numerosi festival in tutto il mondo tra i quali la Mostra del Cinema di Venezia. Nel 2007 dirige insieme a Christophe Hermans un cortometraggio intitolato “The Crab”. Il film viene selezionato in molti festival, in particolare all’International Short Film Festival di Angers. Nel 2008 collabora alla scrittura del documentario “The Parents” di Christophe Hermans e scrive “Together with the dust”, cortometraggio di Jacques Molitor (selezionato al festival di Locarno). Nel 2013 dirige “Dreamcatchers” con Cédric Bourgeois, un documentario sui wrestler belghi. Oggi Xavier ha appena terminato di girare un nuovo cortometraggio con Méryl Fortunat-Rossi intitolato “The Black Bear” (L’orso nero, ndt) così come il suo primo lungometraggio “Je me tue à le dire”. Dal 2012 supervisiona i progetti di fine corso dello IAD.

After Law studies, Xavier Seron enters IAD (Belgium) in 2001. In 2005, Rien d’Insoluble, his end of studies movie, was selected in numerous festivals worldwide among which the Venice Mostra. In 2007, he directed with Christophe Hermans a short film of fiction entitled The Crab. The movie is selected in many festivals, in particular at the international short film festival of Angers. MERYL FORTUNAT ROSSI Biografia / Biography: Regista francese nato ad Arles il 24 aprile 1979. Scopre la fotografia nel periodo delle scuole superiori per poi dedicarsi successivamente al cinema. Tra il 1998 e il 2000 co-dirige tre cortometraggi amatoriali. Dal 2001 al 2005 studia regia in Belgio allo IAD (Arts of Broadcasting Institute). Oggi vive a Bruxelles dove divide il suo tempo fra la televisione (RTBF) e i suoi progetti. Il suo ultimo film “Moonshine” ha già ricevuto 9 premi in tutto il mondo ed è stato nominato al Magritte (i Césars belgi) come miglior cortometraggio. Per quanto riguarda i documentari, “Aparición” è stato selezionato in umerosi festival: Aix-en-Provence, Amiens, Split e Bruxelles. Nel 2014 ha co-diretto “The black bear” con Xavier Seron. SEAN MEEHAN Biografia / Biography: Sean si è laureato alla Scuola di cinema in Western Australia e ha trascorso un decennio dietro alla cinepresa, per poi passare da aiuto operatore a direttore della fotografia in spot pubblicitari, per la TV, per serie televisive e lungometraggi (gira tuttora molti dei suoi spot televisivi). Sean ha diretto spot per 14 anni e ha girato e diretto spot di alto profilo e ad alto budget per clienti come Volkswagen, McDonald’s, Vodafone, Nissan, Buick, Audi, PepsiCo, The Transport Accident Commission, Anti-Smoking e Tourism Australia. È co-proprietario di Soma Films, una casa di produzione di spot pubblicitari televisivi in Australia. Sean è noto come regista di spot anche in Canada, Stati Uniti, Inghilterra e Germania.

Subienkow è un polacco che nell’America russa (l’attuale Alaska, ndt) di metà ‘800 si trova ad essere il penultimo sopravvissuto di un gruppo di ladri di pellicce russi che vengono sconfitti dai liberatori della tribù locale che era stata ridotta in schiavitù, ai lavori forzati. Per Subienkow si preannuncia una lunga, protratta e dolorosa morte a meno che non riesca a trovare un piano di fuga. Subienkow chiama il capo della tribù, Makamuk, e comincia a trattare. Quello che segue è un gioco di potere tra i due uomini e Yakuga, uno schiavo libero da poco, che mette in dubbio la legittimità dell’offerta di Subienkow anche se inizia a dubitare della saggezza del capo tribù.

Sean graduated film school in Western Australia, then spent a decade in the camera department, working his way from 2nd AC to cinematographer on commercials, television series and feature films (he still shoots most of his own TVC work). Sean has been directing commercials for fourteen years and has shot and directed high profile, big budget campaigns for international clients including Volkswagen, McDonald’s, Vodafone, Nissan, Buick, Audi, PepsiCo, the Transport Accident Commission, Anti-Smoking and Tourism Australia. He is co-owner of Soma Films, a TVC production company in Australia. Sean is also represented for commercials in Canada, the US, England and Germany.

“Lost Face” is a classic story by legendary writer Jack London about a man out of place and out of time. Subienkow is polish, who in mid-1800’s Russian America finds himself the second-to-last survivor of a group of Russian fur-thieves who have just been defeated by liberators from the local tribe they have enslaved as forced labour. Now Subienkow faces a long, protracted and painful death unless he can come up with a plan for escape. Subienkow calls over the tribe’s chief, Makamuk and he begins to barter. What follows is a power play between the two men, and Yakuga, a recently freed slave, who doubts the legitimacy of Subienkow’s offer even as he begins to question the wisdom of his tribe’s chief.

Ha collaborato anche a diversi altri lungometraggi, compresi “Don’t worry I’m fine”, “Welcome” e “All’our desires” del regista francese Philippe Lioret. Collabora anche con Éric Lartigau a “The big picture” Gira il cortometraggio “Marlon” nel 2017, prodotto da Punchline Cinéma. Attualmente sta lavorando all’adattamento cinematografico del romanzo francese “L’Amour sans le faire” di Serge Joncour.

Ha diretto i videoclip musical “La mentalità - Giovanni Block”, “Ama te stesso”, “Diego Laurenti”. Ha lavorato come aiuto regia per le serie “Mind The Gap”, “Men at Wok”, prodotti da Vision Air e Inail, per il documentario di Romano Montesarchio “Cuore Nero”, prodotto da Bronx Film e Rai Cinema. Ha lavorato come assistente alla regia per la Fiction Rai “Non dirlo al mio capo” regia di G. Manfredonia prodotta da Lux Vide. E’ stato l’operatore backstage per il film “Indivisibili” di E. SEVEN MINUTES Israel 2017 14’

ASSAF MACHNES Biografia / Biography: Inizia a girare film durante il periodo di studi alla Minshar School of Arts di Tel Aviv, studiando allo stesso tempo per una laurea in “Matematica” all’Università di Tel Aviv. In seguito all’iscrizione presso la Met Film School di Londra, il suo film di fine corso viene proiettato in oltre 140 festival in tutto il mondo, aggiudicandosi molti premi. Dopo essere tornato in Israele riceve delle sovvenzioni per lo sviluppo dall’Israeli Film Fund e dal Polish Film Institute per scrivere la sceneggiatura del suo primo lungometraggio. Ha partecipato alla Berlinale Talents nel 2015 e al Locarno Filmmakers Academy nel 2016.

He began filmmaking during his studies at the Minshar School of Art in Tel Aviv, at the same time taking a degree in mathematics at Tel Aviv University. Subsequently taking up studies at the Met Film School in London, his graduation film screened at over 140 festivals worldwide and won many awards. After his return to Israel, he received development grants from the Israeli Film Fund and the Polish Film Institute to write his first feature film screenplay. He participated in Berlinale Talents in 2015 and the Locarno Filmmakers Academy in 2016.

Yonash, a junior IDF soldier, is supposed to stay at the army base over the weekend to serve his punishment. At the last moment, he is given a chance to return home with the others. Seven minutes is all that separates Yonash from his temporary freedom.

FARNOOSH SAMADI Biografia / Biography: Farnoosh Samadi è nata in Iran e si è diplomata all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma. Ha iniziato la sua carriera da regista all’Iranian Youth Cinema Society e successivamente ha creato alcune installazioni video. Farnoosh Samadi was born in Iran and graduated from the Fine Arts Academy in Rome. She started her career as a filmmaker at the Iranian Youth Cinema Society and after that she made some video installations. She is the scriptwriter for the short films “More Than Two Hours” directed by Ali Asgari which was nominated for a Palme d’Or at Cannes 2013, “The Baby” which was premiered in Short film competition at Venice Film Festival 2014 and some other short films . ALI ASGARI Biografia / Biography: Ali Asgari è nato a Teheran. Si è diplomato in “Cinema” in Italia. Ha iniziato la sua carriera come assistente alla regia ed è stato alunno del Berlinale Talent Campus 2013. Il suo cortometraggio “More than two hours” è stato in gara a Cannes 2013 e al Sundance Film Festival 2014. Il suo cortometraggio “The Baby” è stato mostrato in anteprima in competizione al Festival del Cinema di Venezia 2014. I suoi cortometraggi sono stati proiettati in oltre 500 festival in tutto il mondo e hanno vinto oltre 100 premi internazionali. La bersolari Maialen Lujanbio, con i suoi versi, fa una cruda denuncia della violenza di genere. Verso dopo verso, vengono denunciate le diverse espressioni della violenza maschile sulle donne, così come la nostra impossibilità di vincerla. Con il pretesto dei versi, venti giovani artisti dirigono un’opera di creazione collettiva, in cui utilizzano diverse tecniche di animazione.

The short film is a collectively-created work directed by twenty young Basque artists, coordinated by Bego Vicario. The stanzas and the transitions between them were distributed among the different artists, with the result that the film combines works made with a great variety of techniques. Thanks to the music and the rhythm of the songs, however, they create a highly suggestive formal and narrative unity, which brings new force and depth to the verses. Distribution: KIMUAK.

St. Agatha’s Eve is a deep-rooted Basque tradition in which people walk from house to house, accompanied by improvised verse-makers (bertsolaris), singing verses to the beating of long sticks. Building on this celebration, bertsolari Maialen Lujanbio composes a stark denunciation of gender violence. In verse after verse, she condemns the different manifestations of sexist violence and our inability to combat it. Based on these couplets, twenty young artists direct a collective-created piece, using different animation techniques.

Suraya Raja is an animator and director, and a graduate of the National Film and Television School, where she completed an MA in Animation Direction. Her films tell stories of the absurdity of human behavior, the internal and the tragicomic, influenced by her previous work in psychology and social issues, and also by her day-to-day observations of human behavior.

‘Don’t Think of a Pink Elephant’ is about a teenage girl learning to cope with intrusive thoughts; the kind of thoughts we all experience, like the thought of stabbing someone with a fork, or the urge to jump from a high place. The main character, Layla, fights daily against these thoughts, terrified by her potential to do harm.

ILENIA LOCCI Biografia / Biography: Ilenia Locci nasce a Muravera nel 1992. Nel 2011 consegue il Diploma di Maturità d’Arte Applicata apprendendo arti come la scultura. Dopo studi in pittura e moda nel 2012 si iscrive all’Accademia delle Belle Arti di Torino. Coniuga le sue differenti passioni con una tesi di laurea in animazione, intitolata “Claymation - l’animazione stop motion in plastilina”. Attualmente studia Concept Art presso la Event Horizon School di Torino.

Factory, due fabbriche gemelle del Pianeta Terra, convivono umani e robot che operano con impegno per un traguardo comune. Nel compito di ogni giorno i singolari ingredienti di una ricetta millenaria vengono lavorati per illuminare il tempo. In ciascun settore delle fabbriche si coopera in perfetta armonia, mantenendo l’immemore sincronismo che permette di portare a termine la missione.

Ilenia Locci was born in Muravera in 1992. In 2011 she graduated in Applied Arts - Ceramics, learning artistic techniques such as clay modeling and sculpting, besides various painting techniques on ceramic. After her studies in oil painting and fashion, in 2012 she enrolls at the Academy of Arts of Turin, Artistic Design for Industry. Here she joins her passions in a theoretical-practical thesis in animation, entitled “Claymation: the stop motion animation with modeling clay”. Now she is studying Concept Art at the Event Horizon School of Turin.

In the S. Factories, two twin factories of planet Earth, humans and robots work together with commitment towards a common goal. In the every day task singular ingredients of an ancient recipe are processed to illuminate time itself. The workers cooperate in each of the factories sectors in perfect harmony while maintaining the immemorial synchronization that allows them to complete the mission.

FABIO LOI Biografia / Biography: Fabio Loi nasce a Muravera nel 1991. Sin da ragazzino mostra attenzione per i prodotti audiovisivi. Nel 2011 consegue il Diploma di Maturità d’Arte Applicata, sezione Metalli. Dal 2011 al 2013 studia “Cinema” presso l’Università degli Studi di Bologna, partecipando negli stessi anni alla Web Radio della città (Radio Sommersa) come speaker e autore. E’ appassionato di cinema d’animazione, effetti speciali e doppiaggio. Attualmente è un filmmaker freelance.

Fabio Loi was born in Muravera in 1991. Since a young boy he shows interest in audiovisual products, experiencing 3D modeling, video shooting and animation. In 2011 he graduates in Applied Arts, with a specialization in metal. NOEMI GRUNER Biografia / Biography: Noémi Gruner è una regista francese nata a Parigi. Fresca di laurea alla EMCA di Angoulême, nel 2016, ha girato il suo primo cortometraggio animato “La Costa Dorada”. Il film è stato prodotto da Perspective films (Francia) e da Need Productions (Belgio), acquistato da France Television, la sceneggiatura è stata premiata in diversi festival di cinema (Lille, Aubagne, Parigi). Noémi ha creato molti cortometraggi utilizzando svariate tecniche nel corso dei suoi studi, tra i quali “Tatie Tang”, premiato con il premio Gulli al festival di Annecy.

Lì canta per i turisti, mentre negli stessi momenti, a Madrid, si sta per svolgere una delle dimostrazioni più importanti del movimento sociale degli “Indignados”. Da sola in una città che non conosce, si troverà a confontarsi ancor più duramente con la crisi.

Noémi Gruner is a French director born in Paris. Freshly graduated from the EMCA School in Angoulême in 2015, she directed her first animated short film La Costa Dorada. The film was produced by Perspective films (France) and Need Productions (Belgium), purchased by France Televisions, and the screenplay had been awarded in several cinema festivals (Lille, Aubagne, Paris). Noémi has created many short films using many different techniques during her studies, among which is Tatie Tango, which was awarded with the Gulli public prize at the Annecy festival in 2014.

In order to help her parents who are affected by the crisis in Spain, Erika leaves for a job on the Costa Dorada seacoast. There, she will sing for tourists while in Madrid one of the most important demonstration of the “Indignados” social movement is about to take place. Alone in an unknown city, she finds herself confronted even more brutally with the crisis.

ANITA KWIATKOWSKA Biografia / Biography: Nata a Cracovia, nel 1986. Diplomata in animazione alla Scuola nazionale di cinema, televisione e teatro di Lodz di Łódź (Polonia) e in Psicologia all’Università di Varsavia. Interessata a sperimentare nell’ambito dell’animazione, utilizza le tradizionali tecniche dello stop-motion insieme a materiali non convenzionali.

FERNANDO POMARES Biografia / Biography: Fernando Pomares ha studiato alla ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya), specializzandosi in montaggio. E’ coordinatore della post-produzione dello studio di produzione di animazione Citoplasmas, nonché membro del collettivo Non Stop Barcelona Animaciò che promuove l’animazione a Barcellona. “ALTO SAUCE” è il suo primo cortometraggio da regista. Al momento sta lavorando a dei nuovi progetti con la sua società Travelogue Studio.

Fernando Pomares studied in ESCAC and specialized in editing. He is the postproduction coordinator of the animation production studio Citoplasmas, and a member of the collective Non Stop Barcelona Animació which promotes animation in the city of Barcelona. “ALTO SAUCE” is his first short film as a director. He is now working on new projects with his own company Travelogue Studio.

HARRIET HOLMAN-PENNEY Biografia / Biography: Harriet, che attualmente risiede nel Regno Unito, ha passato gran parte della sua vita in riva al mare. ROY AMBRIZ Biografia / Biography: Roy Ambriz nasce a Città del Messico nel 1990. Già in tenera età mostra interesse per le arti visive e narrative, infatti comincia a frequentare diversi corsi tra i quali teatro, disegno e scultura. All’età di quattordici anni inizia a prendere lezioni di trucco. Nel 2009 inizia il suo corso di laurea in “Cinema e Televisione” al Centro de diseño, cine y televisión, laureandosi nel 2013 con il suo cortometraggio di tesi finale dal titolo “Telleth of those that dwell in the water”. Roy e il fratello sono stati due degli artisti invitati a mostrare un’opera d’arte su Guillermo Del Toro alla Gallery 1988 di Los Angeles.

Don Gonzalo, un vivo sostenitore del recentemente esiliato presidente Porfirio Diaz, usa la forza dei suoi cinghiali selvatici per rafforzare la sua volontà. Un fotografo viene ingaggiato per filmare e documentare il suo regime. L’esercito rivoluzionario attacca l’hacienda per reclamare la terra per i lavoratori. Roy Ambriz was born in Mexico City in 1990. From an early age he showed interest in the visual arts and narrative, thus taking multiple courses in drama, drawing and sculpture among others. From the age of fourteen, began taking courses of special makeup effects. In 2009 he began his bachelor degree in Film and Television in Centro de diseño, cine y televisión and graduated in 2013 with his short film thesis “Telleth of those that dwell in the water”. He and his brother were two of the invited artists to showcase a piece of art on the Guillermo Del Toro: In The Service Of Monsters art show at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles.

Revoltoso is a stop-motion short film that tells the story of a little one-eyed boar who lives in Don Gonzalo’s hacienda during the Mexican Revolution in 1913. Don Gonzalo, an avid follower of the recent exiled president, Porfirio Diaz, uses the strength of his wild boars to enforce his will. A photographer is hired to film and document his regime. The Revolutionary Army attacks the hacienda in order to reclaim the land to the workers. In the midst of this battle, the little boar is brought closer to the film camera and must decide what to do with it.

ARTURO AMBRIZ Biografia / Biography: Arturo Ambriz, comunemente noto come “Vonno”, è il co-fondatore e co-direttore di Cinema Fantasma, un’azienda creativa specializzata nello stop-motion e in altre tecniche di animazione classiche. Nato nel 1988 a Città del Messico, a 16 anni Arturo studia “Digital Filmmaking” nell’ambito di un programma estivo alla New York Film Academy. Dal 2011 ha lavorato al cortometraggio d’animazione “Revoltoso” come regista, insieme al fratello. Arturo Ambriz, commonly called “Vonno”, is the cofounder and codirector of Cinema Fantasma, a creative company that specialises on stop-motion and other classic animation techniques. He was born in 1988 in Mexico City. When he was 16 years old he studied Digital Filmmaking on a summer program in the New York Film Academy. He has been working on the animated short film “Revoltoso” as director along his brother since 2011.

NATALIA CHERNYSHEVA Biografia / Biography: Nata a Sverdlovsk, Russia, laureata alla Ural State Academy of Architecture and Art con una specializzazione in “Grafica e animazione”. Ha lavorato come animatore cinematografico, character designer e artista in diversi film d’animazione. “Snowflake” del 2012 è il suo film di debutto come regista. Ha studiato a La Podriere (Francia) tra il 2012 e il 2014, dove ha diretto i film “The Return”(2013) e il suo film di fine corso “Two Friends”(2014). Ad ottobre 2014 viene confermata la sua partecipazione alla residence Abbaye de Fontevraud dedicato alla stesura del copione per un nuovo progetto. Nel 2015 partecipa all’ “Animation Artist in Residence Tokyo”. Il risultato è “The Gossamer” del 2016.

ALBERTO DIAZ LOPEZ Biografia / Biography: Nato il 27 febbraio 1984 a Boveda (Lugo), in Spagna. Dopo essersi laureato in “Comunicazione audiovisiva” (2002 - 2007) alla Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid), Al Diaz ha iniziato un master europeo in “Studi Cinematografici” (2010). Al momento sta lavorando al suo dottorato in “Cinema Digitale”. Appassionato di teoria cinematografica e poetica, ha da sempre unito la sua ricerca accademica con il mondo professionale relativo all’immagine e al suono, realizzando diversi lavori audiovisivi. Ha svolto lavori di sceneggiatura, produzione e post produzione per la Mordisco Films, la compagnia cinematografica di cui è a capo. Al momento è il direttore artistico e tecnico dell’ International Short Film Festival Yaq, che si svolge a Madrid. Come produttore e direttore, ha ricevuto più di 600 candidature e vinto 125 premi internazionali.

Partendo dai frammenti trovati, recuperati e ricavati dai vecchi Super8, abbiamo sperimentato i principi dell’immagine interiore, quella costruita nella nostra conoscenza, le relazioni che l’ “io” costruisce con l’immagine filmica e come quella “verità” cinematografica ci porti più vicini alla realtà di un mondo tra passato, presente e futuro.

Born on February 27th, 1984, in Bóveda (Lugo), Spain. A passion for film theory and poetic discourse, he has always combined his academic research with the professional world of image and sound, carrying out different audiovisual works in which he simultaneously performed tasks of script writing, production and post production for Mordisco Films, the film company he owns. He is currently the artistic and technical director of the International Short Film Festival Yaq, which takes place in Madrid. He is, as well, producing the short film “Exhalación”, and finish his documentary “Lembranza”. As producer and director, it carries more than 600 selections and 125 international awards.

Lembranza” seizes the memories belonging to the family history of artists and builds on this intimacy to propose an essay about time, memory and the image. The relations, gestures and conditions shape an essential discussion about the art of cinema. Building on fragments found, recovered and rescued from old Super 8s, we tested the principles of the inner image, the one engraved in our conscience. The relations the “I” establishes with the filmic image and how that cinematographic “truth” takes us closer to the reality of a world between past, present and future.

Born and raised in Padua’s province, in 1991. He currently lives in Milan. JOÃO VASCO Biografia / Biography: Insegnante di pianoforte presso il Conservatorio Nazionale di Lisbona, il suo tempo si divide tra l’insegnamento, i palchi, il video e la fotografia. Si è esibito in diverse nazioni in Europa, Nord e Sud America ed Africa, così come nelle più importanti Città portoghesi. Ha realizzato l’album “AlémFado” (Oltre Fado,) una compilation di fado arrangiata per pianoforte da compositori portoghesi di musica Jazz come Mário Laginha, Vasco Mendonça e João Madureira. Si è diplomato al Conservatorio Nazionale di Lisbona, la Scuola Superiore di Musica di Lisbona e ha conseguito un master in “Arti Musicali” all’Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Built after the earthquake of 1531, Bairro Alto is one of the most typical neighborhoods in Lisbon. Piano teacher at Lisbon’s National Conservatory, his time is divided between teaching, the stages, video and photography. According to the general rebirth of the genre at international scale, both nationally and inernationally, the section “Documentaristic feature films” of the festival presents itself as rich and interesting from the points “The immaculate misconception” is a story about belief, family and honour. Sinead of view of content and style. O’Reilly is a pregnant 16-year-old schoolgirl living in West Belfast with her grandparents Daniel and Bronagh O’Reilly. Bronagh is the matriarch of this dysfunctional family and a devout, pious, dour Catholic to boot, who will stop at nothing to maintain her standing in a community that doesn’t want her. After living as an immigrant in the USA for 15 years, Azat flies to Kyrgyzstan and travels to his old family village. His father, Murat, died in the USA a year ago and it was his dying wish to pay back the money he owed to the villagers. When Azat arrives he finds the family home derelict.

FLOOR VAN DER MEULEN Biografia / Biography: Floor Van Der Meulen si laurea nel 2012 presso la Willem de Kooning Academy di Rotterdam in “Design Audiovisivo”. Dirige diversi documentari e film sperimentali. Il suo ultimo documentario, “Storming Paradise” (2014) è un ritratto di due combattenti siriani e uno olandese in un conflitto complesso: giovani uomini che trovano la loro strada nella vita. Ha co-diretto “9 days from my Window in Aleppo” (2016) con Thomas Vroege, candidato all’European Film Award. “In Vrijheid” è il suo primo film di narrazione. “In Vrijheid” tells the story of a mother who gets her lost son back. For months Neziha has lived in fear, because her son Ismaël left for Syria. Then she receives a message saying that Ismaël is back. He fled Syria and is now detained in the Netherlands. Under strict conditions, the judge allows him to await his trial in his mother’s house. Neziha is determined not to let her son slip through her fingers a second time. She does everything within her power to make Ismaël a productive member of society again. But the more she tries to reach him, the greater the distance between mother and son becomes.

JULIETA LEDESMA Biografia / Biography: Julieta Ledesma e una progettista di immagine e suono, laureata presso l’Università di Buenos Aires. Sta attualmente frequentando un master in “Recitazione” presso l’Università Nazionale di Arte. Come insegnante specializzata in sceneggiatura, ha insegnato presso il corso per Progettisti Audio Video presso il Centro Studi di Comunicazione di Buenos Aires e alla Scuola Internazionale di Cinema e Televisione di San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Attualmente fa parte dell’IRUPE CINE, presso il quale sviluppa progetti cinematografici.

Suo padre Ernesto lo riceve puntandogli la pistola contro, mentre il suo cane Arón lo protegge ponendosi minacciosamente tra lui e il padre. Ernesto decide, contrariamente alle volontà del figlio, di sacrificare il cane di famiglia che è diventato selvaggio. Arón, il cane sacrificato, emerge dalla sua tomba e il suo fantasma minaccia la sanità mentale di Ernesto e scuote le fondamenta della famiglia.

Julieta Ledesma is an Image and Sound Designer, graduated from the University of Buenos Aires. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Drama at the National Art University Institute. As a teacher specialized in scripts, she has taught at the Image and Sound Design Career at the University of Buenos Aires, at the Buenos Aires Communication study center and at the International School of Cinema and Television in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Nowadays she is part of IRUPE CINE where she develops feature films projects.

At dawn, Santiago wakes up naked and beaten in the middle of the desert. The young man stands very confused and goes back to his father’s house. In the field, his family is suffering a great drought. His father Ernesto receives him at gunpoint, while his dog Arón protects him threateningly between his father and him. Ernesto decides, against his son’s will, to sacrifice the family’s dog that has become wild. Arón, the sacrificed dog, emerges from its grave and its phantasmagoric apparitions threaten Ernesto’s sanity and shake the family’s foundations, remaining at the mercy of his wild impulses.

JEANNICE ADRIAANSENS Biografia / Biography: Jeannice Adriaansens studiava medicina prima di seguire il cuore e dedicarsi al cinema. Inizia a fare televisione con una serie televisiva per bambini, insegna sceneggiatura alla filmschool di Gent per più di 12 anni e inizia a girare cortometraggi nel 2006. Br43, una sorta di diario, è il suo primo film-documentario di media lunghezza. Jeannice Adriaansens preferisce osservare piccole storie di poche parole, storie che sono una metafora della vita.

Utilizzando degli estratti di un video-diario di bordo fatto durante l’ultimo viaggio del BR43, e raccontando la storia di Jaap skipper e proprietario del BR43, il film diventa un manifesto della vita di tutti i pescatori di Breskens.

Jeannice Adriaansens first studied medicine before she followed her heart and started filmmaking. She started making television and made a television serie for children. She did teaching screenwriting at the filmschool in Gent for more than 12 years and started making short films since 2006. Br43, a journal is her first middle length documentary film. Jeannice Adriaansens prefers to observe little stories with few words. Stories which are a metaphore for life.

BR43 – a journal A film about a Dutch-Flemish fishing-village. This once rich and prosperous village lost its prosperity and conviviality due to the declining of the once remunerative fishing-industry. Using extracts of a video-logbook, made during the last voyage of the BR43, this retrogression becomes manifest. Meanwhile it becomes obvious the fishing-industry is a complex World tied up and confined by all kinds of laws and rules. While looking at the story of Jaap, skipper and owner of the BR43, it becomes a fact all fishingmen of Breskens will finally be one by one fishermen ashore.

CHIARA BELLINI Biografia / Biography: Nata a Pisa, vive a Roma dai primi anni ’90. Chiara Bellini ha lavorato per diverse società di produzione come autrice e sceneggiatrice, ma anche in ruoli più tecnici come l’aiuto regista e la segretaria di edizione. Dal 2004 è impegnata nella direzione della propria società di produzione audiovisiva, co-producendo con Francesco Scura tutti i lavori di Morgana Production (documentari di creazione, web-film, animazioni, cortometraggi e altri prodotti per il settore non-profit). È co-fondatrice e coordinatrice di Ecosin, redazione web non-profit con focus sui temi dell’etica socio-ambientale e dell’informazione aperta e condivisa. NICOLA RAGONE Biografia / Biography: Sceneggiatore, regista teatrale e cinematografico. Con altri suoi collaboratori fonda un’officina culturale chiamata “Fullframe”. Inoltre aderisce al movimento teatrale “Minimo Comune Teatro”. Approda alla scena teatrale proponendo adattamenti da testi classici e moderni. Nel 2013 partecipa, come aiuto-regia, alla realizzazione del documentario/ backstage del film “Che strano chiamarsi Federico” diretto da Ettore Scola, nel quale interpreta il ruolo di Marcello Marchesi. “Sonderkommando” (2014), affresco che racconta la nascita di un amore omosessuale in un campo di sterminio, opera ritenuta di interesse culturale nazionale e quindi finanziata dal Ministero dei Beni Culturali, ottiene il Nastro d’argento. Nello stesso anno, firma la regia del cortometraggio “La Riva”, progetto finanziato dalla Lucana Film Commission e prodotto da Arifa Film e di “Marciapiedi”, cortometraggio prodotto da Aureliano Amadei e Maiora Film per il progetto “Cinema Inventato”.

Da giovane avrebbe voluto fare l’attore, ma nessuno ha mai creduto nel suo talento. Oggi ha circa sessant’anni e vive nel suo paese di origine, Grassano, piccolo comune dell’entroterra lucano. Qui fa il bidello in una scuola media. Il suo passato è stato caratterizzato da una lunga dipendenza dall’alcool, problema superato attraverso la poesia: un vernacolo “grezzo” e rugoso che ancora oggi nutre Carmine nel suo cammino errante. A portrait of Carmine Donnola, bearded and silent man with vivid eyes full of life. As a young man he should have been an actor, but nobody believed in his talent. Today he’s around 60-year-old and lives in his hometown, Grassano, a small town of the Lucanian hinterland. Here he is a janitor in a middle school. His past is charcterized by a long addiction to alcohol, a problem which he has overcome thanks to poetry: a raw and rough language that still feeds Carmine in his wandering journey.

Scriptwriter, theatre and film director. With other colleagues he is the founder of a cultural association called “Fullframe”. He also takes part to the theatre movement “Minimo Comune Teatro”. He arrives to the theatre spotlight with adaptations of classic and modern works. ALAA ASHKAR Biografia / Biography: Fondatore di Freebird Films, Alaa Ashkar è un regista palestinese nato in Galilea. Dopo aver conseguito la laurea in “Legge” in Israele, si trasferisce in Francia nel 2005, dove finisce conclude la sua laurea specialistica in “Scienze Politiche”. Dal 2006 matura diverse esperienze lavorative nel Mediterraneo con ONG internazionali in ambito culturale. Durante queste esperienze sviluppa sempre più il desiderio di esprimere il suo punto di vista e le sue osservazioni in forma audio-visiva. “Route 60” è il suo primo documentario. Il lavoro di Alaa si contraddistingue per la condizione umana nel mondo contemporaneo, situazioni dell’assurdo, contraddizioni e ironia.

Invece, segnato dalla recente rottura con la sua ragazza francese, il regista finisce con il porsi domande sulla sua ricerca della felicità e sul suo interesse per la Palestina. Il suo viaggio diventerà più un percorso di auto-riflessione e scoperta di sé, piuttosto che un’esplorazione storica/sociologica.

Founder of Freebird Films, Alaa Ashkar is a Palestinian Director born in Galilee. After he finished Law degree in Israel, he moved to France in 2005 where he finished his Masters degree in Political Science. Since 2006 he had several work experiences around the Mediterranean with international NGOs in the cultural field. During these experiences, he developed more and more desire to express his point of views and observations in an audio-visual form. “Route 60” was his first feature documentary. His work is marked by the human condition in the contemporary world, situations of absurd, contradictions and irony.

A Palestinian director living in France was about to start a film about the Palestinian memory inside Israel. Instead, haunted by a recent breakup with his French girlfriend, the director ends up wondering about his pursuit for happiness and his interest in Palestine. His journey becomes then one of self-reflection and self-discovery rather than a historical/sociological exploration.

NADIA KIBOUT Biografia / Biography: Nadia Kibout nasce a Saint-Etienne in Francia da genitori algerini. Nel 2004 incomincia la sua carriera da attrice con un film drammatico, opera prima di Mario Rellini, “Balletto di Guerra”, a cui seguiranno altre pellicole cinematografiche e fiction televisive. Il teatro, con la regia di Sergio Castellitto per lo spettacolo “Il Dubbio”, in tournée in tutta Italia, le offre una bellissima esperienza. La passione e la dedizione in ciò che fa la sostengono nel desiderio di una carriera ricca di personaggi ed incontri. Si è diplomata presso l’Accademia Cours Florent di Parigi ed ha ampliato la sua formazione frequentando workshop e stage con Greta Seacat (Actor’s Studio - New York); “Sul corpo, la sensorialità e le emozioni” con Riccardo Magherini; di “Recitazione” con Dominique de Fazio (Actor’s Studio New York); con la Compagnia MOMIX di Moses Pendleton, presso la Scuola Internazionale di Danza con Rossella Hightower (Cannes); alla New York American Theatre Ballet & Steps School e un corso di canto con il M° Michele Fischietti. Nel 2010 interpreta la zingara in “Per Sofia” di Ilaria Paganelli.

Consultando internet, entra nel sito Blablacar, dove offrono passaggi in auto. Contatta Nadia, giovane donna araba che veste il velo secondo i precetti dell’Islam, e che deve recarsi per il week end a Salerno con suo figlio. Nadia è una ragazza gentile e solare, rimasta vedova. Imma verrà coinvolta suo malgrado in avvenimenti che caratterizzeranno un viaggio avventuroso. Imma has to go to Salerno for her niece’s birthday to whom she wants to bring a little rabbit as a present. Surfing on the Internet she enters the Blablacar site where people trade car lifts. She then contacts Nadia, a young Arab woman who wears the veil, according to Islam rules: she has to go to Salerno for the weekend with her son. Nadia is a gentle and joyous girl and she’s a widow. Imma will be involved, reluctantly, in events that will characterize an adventurous journey.

Nadia Kibout was born in Saint-Etienne in France to Algerian parents. In 2004 she started her career with a dramatic film, the first feature film of Mario Rellini, “War Ballet”, to which will follow other movies and fiction films. The theater, directed by Sergio Castellitto for the piece “The Doubt” will offer her a wonderful experience. Her passion and dedication sustain her in a desire of a career full of characters and meetings. GIANLUCA MARINELLI Biografia / Biography: Gianluca Marinelli (Taranto 1983). Oltre ad occuparsi di ricerca storico-artistica legata al contemporaneo, prende regolarmente parte ad attività espositive in fondazioni, musei, gallerie d’arte. Il suo corto “Cala Paura” (2015) ha ottenuto la menzione speciale al Festival del Cinema Europeo di Lecce e al Premio Francesco Fabbri per l’Arte Contemporanea, è stato inoltre selezionato per la 17 Biennale dei Giovani Artisti del Mediterraneo (Milano, Fabbrica del Vapore).

Il lavoro, le opinioni, le speranze, i rimpianti, le delusioni e le soddisfazioni dei lucani - nei prossimi quattro anni - non possono essere dimenticati. Bisogna preservare la futura memoria degli sforzi della Basilicata tutta, regione simbolo di cultura e faro di speranza per un Mezzogiorno in cerca di riscatto. Matera European Capital of Culture 2019 represents an incredible chance of raising for the territories of Basilicata, and it’s just the latest result achieved in the last years, thanks to important actions made to give back dignity to those places. FABRIZIO NUCCI, NICOLA ROVITO, ALESSANDRO NUCCI Biografia / Biography: Autori e registi del documentario “Matera 15/19: Episodio I” sono Fabrizio Nucci, Nicola Rovito e Alessandro Nucci. I primi due, fondatori dell’Open Fields Productions, hanno all’attivo la produzione di cortometraggi, lungometraggi, documentari e videoclip musicali. Dopo aver eseguito, con le primissime produzioni, una costante ricerca stilistica ed acquisito una sempre crescente consapevolezza della tecnica, Nucci e Rovito si cimentano, nell’anno 2013, nella realizzazione del loro primo lungometraggio dal titolo: “Goodbye Mr. President”. Il film prodotto a “budget-zero” grazie alla collaborazione volontaria di attori, compositori e tecnici professionisti è riuscito, nell’arco del primo anno dal suo completamento, a raggiungere un pubblico di oltre 3500 spettatori, grazie ad un auto-distribuzione in 10 sale cinematografiche tra la Calabria e la Puglia, e ad una successiva diffusione in Dvd. Meno di un anno dopo, il duo autoriale si confronta con la produzione del secondo lungometraggio indipendente dal titolo: “Scale Model - La Donna che Uccise Due Volte”. Tra le produzioni più significative compaiono: “La Notte Prima”, mediometraggio realizzato in collaborazione con il Comune di Cosenza e presentato all’interno degli Spazi LuceCinecittà della 72esima Mostra del Cinema di Venezia; “Living Cosenza Theatre”, documentario sulla presenza di Judith Malina a Cosenza negli anni ’90; i cortometraggi pluripremiati “Re di Roma”, “Il Turista” e “Recherche”, quest’ultimo per la regia di Andrea Belcastro. Attualmente, Nucci e Rovito sono alle prese con la pre-produzione del film lungometraggio “Arbëria”, prodotto in collaborazione con Calabria e Basilicata Film Commission e diretto dalla regista piemontese Francesca Olivieri; dei cortometraggi “Memorie di un Santo in Agosto”, del toscano Samuele Portera, e “Amal”, diretto da tre giovani registi del Meridione. Alla storica collaborazione tra i fondatori della Open Fields Productions, per la realizzazione di “Matera 15/19: Episodio I” si è scelto di affiancare il know-how tecnico/artistico di Alessandro Nucci.

Fabrizio Nucci, Nicola Rovito, Alessandro Nucci are authors and directors of the documentary “Matera 15/19: Episodio I”. The first two, founders of the Open Fields Producitions boast in their production full-length films, short films, documentaries and music videos. It was in 2013 that Nucci and Rovito challenged themselves with their first full-length film “Goodbye Mr.President”. This no-budget film attracted an audience of more than 3500 people thanks to the self-distribution in 10 film theatres around the Italian regions of Calabria and Apulia. Among their most significant works we can find “La Notte Prima”, a medium-length film presented in the section Spazi Luce Cinecittà at the 72nd annual Venice film festival, together with the documentary “Living Cosenza Theatre” and the award winning short films “Re di Roma”, “Il Turista” and “Recherche”. For the production of “Matera 15/19: Episodio I” the long-standing collaboration between the two founders of the Open Field Productions has been matched with Alessandro Nucci’s technical and artistic know-how. I was born in Sicily in 1984. After studying literature at the University of Trento, Italy, in 2008 I directed “Maledetta primavera”, my first short movie, which was among the finalists at Cinemazero festival. In 2010 I directed “Lo sconosciuto”, which was selected at 59 Trento Film Festival and at Bolzano Short Film Festival. In 2012 I attended the Berlinale Talent Campus. In 2013 I directed “La caduta”, my first short fiction movie.

On a seaside village of Southern Italy ,a group of guys live everyday adventures, in a deserted and abandoned scenery. Martino is with them for the last day, before moving up North with his family.

SURANGA DESHAPRIYA KATUGAMPALA Biografia / Biography: Suranga Deshapriya Katugampala è nato in Sri Lanka. Dopo i primi anni passati nel paese d’origine, emigra con la famiglia in Italia, dove coltiva la passione per il cinema d’autore. Si laurea in “Informatica multimediale” e lavora come docente in workshop di videonarrazione. Dopo vari cortometraggi sperimentali, nel 2013 realizza la webserie “Kunatu Tempeste”, un progetto a budget zero in cui narra della sua comunità in Italia. “Per un figlio” è il suo primo lungometraggio. La protagonista Kaushalya Fernando è una delle attrici più popolari in Sri Lanka.

Suranga Deshapriya Katugampala was born in Sri Lanka. After the first years in his native country, he moves to Italy with his family, where he grows his passion for the art film. He degrees on multimedia Informatics and works as a teacher in several video storytelling workshops. After various experimental short movies, in 2013 he produces the web-series “Kunatu – Storms”, a zero budget project in which he talks about his own community in Italy. Per un figlio (For A Son) is his first feature film. The main actress, Kaushalya Fernando is one of the most popular actresses in Sri Lanka.

Province of a city in Nothern Italy. Sunita, a middle-aged Sinhalese woman, splits her days between a caretaker job and her adolescent son. There’s a silence full of tension between them. It’s a relationship marked by too many conflicts. Being raised in Italy, her son esperiences a cultural mongrel that is hard to understand for her mother, too busy fighting for living in a country to which she doesn’t want to belong.

GIANCARLO GIANNINI Giancarlo Giannini (Italia), è senza dubbio il volto che più di ogni altro rappresenta il cinema italiano all’estero. Ha recitato in film italiani di fama internazionale, come “Pasqualino Settebellezze” per il quale riceve la nomination all’Oscar come “miglior attore” e in film stranieri di fama mondiale come “Casino Royale”. Nel corso della sua lunga e prolifica carriera, ha vinto sei David di Donatello, cinque Nastri D’argento e cinque Globi d’Oro. Ma il suo contributo al cinema non si esaurisce con le sue memorabili performance da attore. Giannini ha anche doppiato le più grandi star del cinema: è stato la voce italiana di Jack Nicholson in “Shining”, di Michael Douglas in “Wall Street”, di Dustin Hoffman ne “Il maratoneta”. E dal 1995 è la voce ufficiale di Al Pacino. Infine, firma anche due interessantissime regie: “Ternosecco” (1987) e “Ti ho cercata in tutti i necrologi” (2013). In 1998 he was in Venice with “ The Silence” (1998, The President of the Italian Senate’s Gold Medal, “Cinema Avvenire” award and Sergio Trasatti Award - Special Mention, at the 55th annual Venice International film festival), a film about the universal value of music, and in 2001 he participated in Cannes Film Festival with “Kandhar” (2001, prize of the Ecumenical Jury at Cannes Film Festival), a brave condemnation of women’s condition in Afghanistan which the “Time” defined as one of the one hundred best films of all times. His career went on successfully with, among the others, “Sex an Philosophy” (2005) and with the two documentaries “The Gardener” (2012) and “The President” (2014). The Iranian film director won more than 50 awards and he has been a jury member in 15 of the most important international film festivals; just to mention one, in 2006 he was in the commission for the awarding of the Opera Prima “Luigi de Laurentiis” prize at the 63rd annual Venice international film festival. He has been banned from Iran and currently resides in London. MOHSEN MAKHMALBAF Mohsen Makhmalbaf (TEHERAN - Iran - 29/05/1957) è uno dei principali esponenti del Nuovo cinema iraniano. Nato in uno dei quartieri più poveri di Teheran, a 15 anni si unisce alla milizia rivoluzionaria contro il regime dello Scià e a soli 17 anni finisce in prigione per un assalto ad una stazione di polizia. Scarcerato nel 1979, nei primi anni ‘80 oltre al romanzo “Il giardino di cristallo” scrive racconti, testi teatrali e fonda il “Centro di propaganda per la diffusione del pensiero e dell’arte islamica”. Nel 1982 esordisce dietro la macchina da presa con il film “Nassouh le repentant”. Nel 1985, con il suo quarto film, “Boycott”, arriva la notorietà. Seguono, tra gli altri, “L’ambulante” (1987), “Il ciclista” (1989), “Salaam Cinema” (1995), e “Pane e fiore” (1996, Menzione speciale al Festival di Locarno) che gli ha aperto le porte delle platee internazionali. Nel 1996 fonda la casa di produzione Makhmalbaf Film House, grazie alla quale, oltre ai propri, finanzia i film di altri giovani registi iraniani tra cui i tre figli: Hana, Maysam e Samira. Mohsen Makhmalbaf (TEHERN, Iran -29/05/1957) is among the main representatives of the new wave of the Iranian cinema. Born in one of the poorest areas of Teheran, when he was 15 he joined the revolutionary militia against the Shah’s regime and he was only 17 when he ended up in prison for attacking a police station. He was released in 1979. At the beginning of the ’80, he wrote the novel “The crystal garden”, along with short stories and dramas, he also established the “Arts Centre of the Islamic Propaganda Organization”. In 1982 he made his debut behind the camera with the film “Nassouh le repentant”. In 1985 he rose to fame with his fourth film: “Boycott”, but it was with his following films, such as “The Peddler” (1987), “The Cyclist” (1989), “Hello Cinema” (1995) and “A Moment of Innocence” (1996) that he gained international fame. Dal 1989 al 2007, la Prof.ssa Gieri è stata Professore di “Italianistica e di Cinema” all’Università di Toronto. Le sue aree di interesse scientifico sono: I. Cinema italiano; II. È uno dei fondatori del Torino Film Festival, per cui ha ricoperto la carica di direttore dal 1999 al 2002. Dal 1994 conduce “Hollywood Party”, programma radiofonico di Radio3 e, dal 2004 al 2006 il contenitore notturno “La 25a ora - Il cinema espanso” su LA7. Dal 2008 è direttore artistico del Roma Fiction Fest. Autore di numerosi saggi e volumi cinematografici, collabora con il quotidiano La Stampa e con numerose riviste di cinema. S. Della Casa intervisterà per “Hollywood Party” - Radio 3, il regista Mohsen Makhmalbaf. L’intervista rientra nelle attività di anteprima di Materadio 2017 in collaborazione con la Fondazione Matera-Basilicata 2019. Francesco Ranieri Martinotti. Regista e sceneggiatore, è attualmente Presidente dell’ANAC (Associazione Nazionale Autori Cinematografici). E’ tra i fondatori delle Giornate degli Autori del Festival di Venezia. Nel 1991 scrive e dirige il film collettivo a episodi sulle tossicodipendenze “I Tarassachi”, con Sergio Castellitto, che viene presentato alla Mostra del Cinema di Venezia. Nel 1993, con “Abissinia”, vince il David di Donatello per la Miglior opera prima. Sempre con “Abissinia” partecipa al Sundance Film Festival di Robert Redford. Nel 1998 dirige ancora per il grande schermo “Branchie”, dall’omonimo romanzo di Niccolò Ammaniti. Nel 2001, come documentarista, è tra i registi che partecipano alle riprese collettive del G8 di Genova e che realizzano “Un altro mondo è possibile”. Realizza nel 2002 “Lettere dalla Palestina”, presentato al Festival di Berlino. Nel 2007 dirige il film “Ti lascio perché ti amo troppo”, con Alessandro Siani e nel 2008 “La seconda volta non si scorda mai”, sempre con lo stesso attore, contribuendo all’esordio cinematografico del comico napoletano. He assisted in the filming of “Le rose nel deserto” by Mario Monicelli and in 2009, together with the film critic Steve Della Casa, he was curator of “Il mestiere del cinema”, the book, published by Donzelli, written by the great Italian director in the form of an interview. Since 2009 he has been director as well as creator of the new Florence film festival France Odeon, supported by the region of Tuscany and by the town of Florence, entirely dedicated to French cinema. In the two-year period of 2009-210 he was administrative advisor of Berlin European Academy board lead by Wim Wenders. Francesco Ranieri Martinotti presents Mohsen Makhmalbaf.

Angelo Lucano Larotonda, già docente di “Antropologia Culturale” all’Università degli Studi della Basilicata, ha insegnato anche a Messina (Antropologia Economica) e a Roma (Storia del Cinema). Ha lavorato per il cinema e per la RAI come documentarista e sceneggiatore, realizzando, tra l’altro, “Vira, miracoli e morte del cafone lucano (13 puntate)”. È stato membro di varie commissioni ministeriali presso l’allora Ministero dello Spettacolo. A Potenza ha fondato la società concertistica Ateneo Musica Basilicata e a Satriano di Lucania ha curato l’allestimento del Museo virtuale del Pietrafesa, pittore lucano del Seicento. Il Presidente della Repubblica gli ha conferito la medaglia di benemerito della cultura e dell’arte (1995). Ha pubblicato, tra l’altro: “Riprendiamoci la storia - Dizionario dei Lucani”, Mondadori Electa, Milano 2012; “Matera – Segni e luoghi”, Motta Editore, Milano 2002; “Potenza, una Provincia di cento Comuni”, Motta Editore, Milano 2002; “Verso il giorno (meditazioni)”, Libreria Editrice Vaticana, Città del Vaticano 1981. Nell’ambito del LFF terrà un Talk sulla Magia in Basilicata e presenterà il suo ultimo libro “La maciara indaffarata”. Angelo Lucano Larotonda, professor of Cultural Anthropology at the University of Basilicata, he also taught Economic Anthropology in Messina and History of Cinema in Rome. He worked as documentarist and screenwriter for cinema and for the RAI (Italian Radio television), giving life to “Vira, miracoli e morte del cafone lucano (13 puntate)” among the others. He was member of a series of ministerial commissions of what was known at the time as “Ministero dello spettacolo”. In Potenza, he established the concert society “Ateneo Musica Basilcata” and in Satriano di Lucania he was in charge of the setting up of the virtual museum of Pietrafesa, a 1600s painter from Basilicata. He was awarded the Medal of Merit for Culture and Art by the president of the Italian Republic in 1995. Giuseppe Bianco è nato a Matera nel 1958. Ha conseguito la Laurea in “Astronomia” presso l’Università di Bologna, nel 1983. Assunto come ricercatore presso il Centro di Geodesia Spaziale (CGS) nel 1985, lavora per l’Agenzia Spaziale Italiana dal 1990; dal 2007 è Dirigente Tecnologo dell’ASI. E’ stato Responsabile del CGS dal 1995 al 2004; dal 2008 al 2010 è stato Responsabile del Dipartimento di Osservazione della Terra dell’ASI. Dal 2010 è nuovamente Responsabile del CGS. E’ stato a lungo membro della delegazione italiana presso l’Agenzia Spaziale Europea. Attualmente è Presidente del Consorzio europeo di stazioni laser EUROLAS; membro del Governing Board dell’International Laser Ranging Service (ILRS); responsabile del Coordinating Office del Global Geodetic Observing System. E’ professore a contratto presso l’Università di Basilicata ed ha tenuto corsi presso le Università di Pavia e Padova. E’ autore e co-autore di numerose pubblicazioni su riviste internazionali; svolge inoltre un’intensa attività di divulgazione scientifica. Giuseppe Bianco terrà, per il pubblico del Festival, un Talk scenico di Astro-Turismo cinematografico a cura dell’ Agenzia Spaziale Italiana. Giuseppe Bianco was born in Matera in 1958. He graduated in Astronomy at the University of Bologna in 1983. He was employed as researcher at CGS (Space Geodesy Centre) in 1985 and he has been working for the Italian Space Agency since 1990. Starting from 2007 he has been Director of Technology for ASI (Italian Space Agency). He was in charge of CGS from 1995 to 2004 and from 2008 to 2010 of the Department of Earth Observation of ASI. Since 2010 he has been back in charge of CGS. He has been member of the Italian delegation to the European Space Agency for a long time and he is currently president of the European laser station network (EUROLAS), member of the Governing Board of ILRS (International Laser Ranging Service) and person in charge of the Global Geodetic Observing System Coordinating Office. He is professor on contact at the University of Basilicata but he also taught in the universities of Padova and Pavia. Author and co-author of many publications on international periodicals, he is strongly committed to scientific divulgation. For the audience of the Festival, Giuseppe Bianco will hold a scenic talk, by the Italian Space Agency, about cinematographic astro-tourism and about cinema and science fiction.

Armando Corridore alterna la sua attività di compositore musicale a quella di direttore editoriale della casa editrice Elara di Bologna e di traduttore specializzato di narrativa fantastica. È curatore dell’edizione italiana della storica rivista americana “The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction” e della collana “Libra Fantastica”, entrambe distribuite nelle edicole italiane. Appassionato di cinema fantastico collabora con il Fantafestival di Roma e ha organizzato diverse edizioni della manifestazione Italcon, convegno nazionale ultraquarantennale del fantastico in tutti i media. Allievo di Francesco Carluccio, Adriano Guarnieri e Karlheinz Stockhausen, nella sua produzione artistica unisce la passione per la musica con quella per lo spazio in una serie di sue composizioni in cui gli strumenti tradizionali interagiscono con le elaborazioni elettroniche dei suoni raccolti dalle sonde Voyager e Cassini nei loro lunghi viaggi oltre il cielo terrestre. La sua opera “Canti Segreti di Saturno” per flauto, clarinetto basso e radioemissioni del pianeta Saturno, raccolte dalla sonda Cassini è stata eseguita in diverse occasioni, tra cui un concerto notturno presso l’osservatorio di Mone Zugna (Rovereto), alla presenza dello stesso Saturno che quella notte transitava in cielo. Armando Corridore, esperto di cinema di fantascienza, partecipa al Talk sull’Astro-Turismo cinematografico. Armando Corridore interchanges his activity as a music composer with his work as editor of the Italian edition of “The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction” and publisher of fantastic fiction. A fan of fantastic cinema, he collaborates with Roma’s Fantafestival and organized several editions of “Italcon”, main Italian convention for fantastic fiction in all media. His main teachers in Music composition were Francesco Carluccio, Adriano Guarnieri and Karlheinz Stockhausen; he often joins his passion for Music and Space composing pieces for instruments and real time electronic interactions with radio emissions recorded by Voyager and Cassini probes in their routes in the solar system. One of his pieces, named “Saturn’s secret songs” for flute, bass clarinet and Saturn radio emissions was performed in several occasions, among which a nightly performance near Monte Zugna observatory (Rovereto) under the presence of Saturn itself. Armando Corridore, expert of science fiction films, will participate in the talk on cinematographic astro-tourism.

Pasquale Petrolo, in arte Lillo o Lillo Petrolo (Roma, 27 agosto 1962), è un attore, umorista, regista, autore, cantante, conduttore radiofonico, conduttore televisivo e fumettista italiano. È noto soprattutto per essere uno dei due componenti del duo comico Lillo & Greg, insieme a Claudio Gregori. La sua carriera prende avvio come autore di fumetti comici presso la casa editrice capitolina Acme. Proprio qui conosce Claudio Gregori, anche lui autore di fumetti. Nel 1991 i due decidono di dare sfogo alla loro creatività in una dimensione completamente nuova, dando vita al gruppo rock demenziale “Latte & i Suoi Derivati” che diventa, in breve tempo, una band di culto a Roma e nel Lazio. Nel 1997 è parte del gruppo fondatore del fortunato show satirico “Le Iene”. Nel 2002 è autore e conduttore di “Mmmh!”, un programma di Serena Dandini con Neri Marcorè, mentre l’anno successivo inizia la collaborazione decennale sia come autore che come attore nei programmi di Marco Giusti come “Stracult” e “Cocktail d’amore”, trasmessi su Rai2. Nel 2003 diventa autore e conduttore, sempre insieme a Greg, della trasmissione radiofonica di Radio2 “610 - SEIUNOZERO”. Il successo di pubblico è tale che, nel 2006, da settimanale diventa una programmazione quotidiana. Al Festival, il pubblico assisterà ad una chiacchierata assurdo-comica, con la quale ripercorreremo la carriera di Lillo: dagli esordi nel fumetto, poi la band “Latte e i suoi derivati”, il connubio con Greg, il teatro, la tv, la radio, il cinema. Pasquale Petrolo, aka Lillo or Lillo Petrolo (Rome, 27th of August 1962), is an Italian actor, humorist, director, author, singer, radio presenter, TV presenter and cartoonist. He is mainly known as a member of the comic duo Lillo & Greg together with Claudio Gregori. His career began as author of comics at the Roman “Acme” publishing house. It was there that he met Claudio Gregori who was author of comics as well. In 1991, they decided to pour their creativity into a totally new dimension creating the crazy rock group “Latte & I Suoi Derivati” that in a very short time became a cult band in Rome and in the Lazio region. In 1997 he was part of the group that gave life to the lucky Italian satirical show “Le Iene”. In 2002 he was author and presenter of the Tv programme “Mmmh!” by Serena Dandini with Neri Mercorè. From the following year he started the ten-year collaboration, both as author and actor, in the TV programmes created by Marco Giusti, such as “Stracult” and “Cocktail d’amore”, all broadcasted on Rai2. In 2003, always together with Greg, he became author and presenter of the radio programme by Radio2 “610 - SEIUNOZERO”. Its success among the public was so big that in 2006 from being a weekly programme it became a daily one. In occasion of the Festival the talk presented to the audience will recall Lillo’s career in an absurd-comic tone: from his starting as cartoonist, to the band “Latte & i Suoi Derivati”, the union with Greg, the theatre, the TV, the radio and the Cinema.

FABIO ORSI - IL RICORDO IMPROVVISO DELL’ASSOLUTO STUPORE Per il Lucania Film Festival Fabio Orsi presenterà il suo ultimo lavoro “Il ricordo improvviso dell’assoluto stupore”. Il progetto consta di una unica, lunga traccia in un vinile one-sided e di un libro fotografico composto da ben 104 immagini in rigoroso bianco/nero, rilegato in box con un vinile single-side contenente la lunga traccia omonima come “bonus” che sarà proiettato sottoforma di video. In occasion of Lucania Film Festival he will present his latest work “Il ricordo improvviso dell’assoluto stupore”. This project consists in one long track recorded on a one-sided vinyl and a photobook made by 104 rigorously black and white pictures. It comes in a box with a single-side vinyl, which contains the homonymous exclusive long track, that will be played in the form of video.
