Jan Broberg Carter è una compositrice musicale per programmi televisivi e film. È inoltre produttore esecutivo e direttore musicale. Ha composto arrangiamenti per 16 film e attualmente è produttore esecutivo musicale e compositrice per una serie televisiva animata e per un’altra sul web chiamata “Linear Tales”. È stata scelta per produrre e comporre gli arrangiamenti musicali del nuovo progetto ambientato a Las Vegas, Nevada – un film documentario sull’architetto americano Frank Gehry e per un secondo documentario sulla costruzione di uno dei suoi capolavori, “The Ruvo”. Dal 1998 è membro dell’ASCAP (The American Society of Composers) ed attualmente è giudice internazionale di film festival in Italia, Grecia, Francia, a Los Angeles e a New York. È anche membro dell’IFP (Independent Filmmaker Project) di New York, del NAFTA e del Musicians Union of Las Vegas Local 369. Ha frequentato l’università di Darmouth, Harvard e Oxford e vive la sua vita tra Portland (Maine) e la Nuova Scozia (Canada). Questo è il suo quarto anno come giudice del BSFF (Brussels Short Film Festival). È membro del Sundance Patron Circle da ben 16 anni

Nel 2013 hanno realizzato il film d’animazione “Quagga” in coproduzione con la TVE (Television for the Environment) e con la filiale londinese della multinazionale Bloomberg. Attualmente lavorano al loro nuovo film “My grandfather was a cherry tree” (“Mio nonno era un ciliegio”) realizzato con il supporto del Ministro russo della Cultura, in seguito alla pubblicazione dell’omonimo libro della scrittrice italiana Angela Nanetti.
Jan Broberg Carter is a classically-trained TV and film composer/orchestrator who is an Executive Music Producer/ Composer and Music Editor. She has scored 16 movies and is currently the exec.music producer/composer of an animated TV and web series,”Linear Tales.”She has been chosen to produce and score the upcoming film project in Las Vegas, Nevada—a documentary about American architect Frank Gehry-- and a second documentary about the building of one of his masterpieces,”The Ruvo.” A member of ASCAP since 1998, she is an international film festival judge in Italy, Greece, France, L.A. and N.Y. and is a member of IFP/NY, NAfTA, and the Las Vegas Musician’s Local 369. Visioni spietate, ma anche meravigliose. Storie dalle Americhe al deserto dell’Iran, passando da quelle minute e universali del mondo dell’infanzia, per finire con le storie di amori omossessuali nella Russia contemporanea e di quelli impossibili del Sahara. Occhi innocenti per un mondo che ha bisogno di redenzione estetica e di valori. The historical section of LFF once again shows a stark and merciless worldview. A harsh and beautiful vision. Stories from America to the desert of Iran, passing by little to universal stories of the childhood world, ending with homosexual love stories in the contemporary Russia and to the impossible Saharan. Innocent eyes for a world that needs aesthetic redemption and values.

Fin dagli esordi del LFF, la sezione di cinema animato è frutto di un’ esigenza narrativa alla ricerca di dimensioni iconiche e cromatiche che il cinema industriale di settore non propone quasi piu’. Cibo per gli occhi, forme per il cuore. Cinema is animation. Since the beginning of the LFF, the animated film section is a narrative choice, with the intentin of searching foriconic and chromatic dimensions that the cinema industry does not propose anymore. La ragione di questo comportamento insolito è scaturito da una insolita abitudine che gli abitanti coltivano.

El Tango è un concerto che reinterpreta e racconta il Tango Argentino di Astor Piazzolla, il compositore oggi più conosciuto, eseguito e amato in tutto il mondo. I testi sono di Louis Borges e Horacio Ferrer, che lungamente hanno collaborato con Piazzolla dando alla luce numerosi capolavori come i cicli delle Baladas e delle Milongas. Lo spettacolo narra di un mondo di speranza e disillusione, di passioni e di tradimenti attraverso il pathos e líironia tipica della cultura sudamericana.

The Moorings, sono una esplosiva band francese di irish-folk-punk che vanta collaborazioni, tra gli altri, con i Dubliners e i Pogues. Formatisi nel 2007, The Moorings nascono come gruppo acustico per poi trasfromare il sound un irish_punk elettrico. Nel loro genere, sono tra le band più seguite del vecchio continente. Fedeli ai temi popolari della tradiziione irlandese, The Mooring hanno registrato il loro primo album “Pinte & Glory”, nel mese di ottobre del 2011.
Può Italo Calvino essere riletto attraverso uno standard jazz? Ed è possibile rileggere la storia tutta contemporanea del jazz americano attraverso i valori che Calvino propose nel suo capolavoro postumo Lezioni americane? Le sei proposte per il nuovo millennio, anzi i six memos for the next millenium, individuati da Italo Calvino, diventano il filo rosso per riproporre sei qualità della musica jazz nordamericana, sei ambiti di riflessione, sei possibilità interpretative del canone musicale sviluppatosi negli Stati Uniti díAmerica durante il ‘900. Il jazz diventa così la lezione americana verso cui rivolgere lo sguardo per comprendere l’attuale contemporaneità.
THE MOORINGS The Moorings, are an explosive band of French-Irish folkpunk who has collaborated, among others, with the Dubliners and the Pogues. The American jazz becomes the lesson to which to turn our gaze to understand the current contemporary.

Emerson Leal, musicista brasiliano che fonde nella sua musica d’autore lo stile della musica popular brasilera con influenze contemporanee sempre nuove e curiose. Le sue composizioni originali contengono un ingegnoso lavoro di armonia, melodia e ritmo, concepiti a partire dal suo personalissimo stile di suonare la chitarra e cantare. La sua traiettoria artistica lo ha portato a sviluppare testi sofisticati che mantengono comunque una forte connessione e facilitano la spontanea interazione con il pubblico.
T T M Ë un progetto discografico che si fonda sulla sperimentazione elettro-acustica. Le sonorit‡ di questo duo enigmatico intrecciano strumenti, impulsi e attrezzi, generando frattali sonori e tormenti pop. Emerson Leal, Brazilian musician who combines in his art music style of popular music with contemporary influences brasilera new and curious. His original compositions contain an ingenious work of harmony, melody and rhythm, conceived from his personal style of playing the guitar and singing. His artistic career has led him to develop sophisticated texts that still maintain a strong connection and facilitate spontaneous interaction with the audience.
TTM is a recording project that is based on the electroacoustic experimentation.The sound of this enigmatic duo intertwine tools, pulse tools and generating fractals pop sound and torments. Background varied for the two Italian musicians from Lucania: from soundtracking to punk, from classical to rock and roll and psychedelia. The first single of the Tar Ten Milligrams, fresh from the self, is a frantic stream of tones and shades, the result of an introspective, which tends to the admixture of different musical frequencies.

Sarà proiettato un documentario della sua esprienza a Washington, pretesto per parlare delle potenzialità del rapporto cibo-cinema come connubio per la promozione integrata del territorio lucano.
Tracce maestre - Road Art/Movie E’ un progetto di residenza che, a partire dal patrimonio storico e culturale legato alle esperienze di grandi maestri del cinema nazionale ed internazionale che hanno scelto la Basilicata come set cinematografico (F. Rosi, P. P. Pasolini, G. Tornatore, Mel Gibson) ha come fine la realizzazione di opere innovative sul piano tecnico e narrativo (video arte, fiction, animazione, ecc.) e una mappatura delle tracce artistiche (street e land art, ecc.) nelle località di interesse del progetto.

ARTISTS - SILVIA FORESE, ELENA MARY HARRIS Maestro traces - Road Art/Movie is a project that considering the historical and cultural heritage of great masters (such as F. Rosi, P.P. Pasolini, G. Tornatore, Mel Gibson) of national and international cinema world that chose Basilicata as a cinematographic set, is aimed to the production of an innovative output. The innovative aspect required may be referred on a technical level or on the narrative level. It is possible to realize a shortmovie , pubblic art (street and land art). The work has to record all artistic traces of the places interested by the project.

P-STORIES - PISTICCI CITTA’ NARRANTE
CINE-WALK - TRACCE MAESTRE Il LFF si apre ad una nuova forma di fruizione cinematografica con l’ausilio di audioradio. Carlo Infante, freelance di Performing Media, accompagnerà il pubblico del festival dotato di auricolari per un viaggio radioracconto on line nelle strade della città di Pisticci sulle tracce di Visconti a Pisticci e dei film in concorso con i rispettivi autori.
L’11 e il 12 agosto, nell’ambito di p-stories, cappello progetto, i locali dell’ Act Circus ospiteranno il laboratorio sulle tecniche narrative “La Magia delle storie”, a cura dei docenti/artisti della compagnia romana di storytelling Raccontamiunastoria. Il laboratorio esplorerà le tecniche della narrazione orale improvvisata secondo le regole tramandate dai cantastorie, mettendo a fuoco il potere di trasformazione e l’elemento magico contenuto nelle grandi storie della tradizione. La magia nelle storie non è solo un viaggio della fantasia o la porta d’ingresso per un mondo fantastico, ma anche una metafora del potere risolutivo di conoscere e saper usare bene le parole nelle relazioni di tutti i giorni. Il 12 agosto la compagnia Raccontamiunastoria realizzerà una performance musicale ispirata al Decamerone di Boccaccio dal titolo “Sex and city 1300”.

P-STORIES - PISTICCI IS A TELLING CITY On the 11th and 12th August , as part of Pstories main project, the venue of Act Circus will host the workshop of narrative technique “The magic of stories”, held by teachers and artists of a storytelling company from Rome called “Raccontami una storia”. The workshop will explore the technique of improvised oral storytelling use, according to the rule handed down by storytellers, focusing on the transformation power and the magic element contained in the great stories of tradition. The magic in the stories is not only a journey of the imagination or a gateway to a fantasy world, but also a metaphor standing the resolving power of knowing and being able to make a good use of words in the daily relationship. On the 12th Agust the company “Raccontami una storia” will have a musical performance inspired by “Decamerone by Boccaccio”, entitled “Sex and city 1300”

Un documento filmico che racconta, in modo oggettivo, l’omaggio che il maestro Scola disegna per il suo amico e collega Fellini. La nostalgia di un cinema che non esiste più: voci, ricordi, sogni, desideri. Un luogo senza tempo, il cinema nel cinema, la finzione che si rivela, la forma che si prende gioco di sé stessa. Momenti di puro insegnamento, direzione d’altri tempi, battute, emozioni contrastanti, dal serio al grottesco, come nella redazione del Marc’Aurelio, rivista satirica che ha visto nascere l’estro di Fellini e Scola. La magia di un bar notturno, un teatrino di periferia, e poi i fondali, il tulle, un miscuglio di tecniche e sperimentazioni, commentato dalla voce degli esperti, dai silenzi, dagli sguardi di più generazioni a bordo di una nave che va e oltrepassa il tempo. A journey in Studio 5 at Cinecittà, full of “fellinesque images”, populated by characters created on paper, drawn, sketched, with craggy features, large breasted or doublespeak. A documentary film that chronicles, in an objective way, a tribute that the maestro Scola draws for his friend and colleague Fellini. Beniamino Fabiano (Bari). L’artista, nelle sue opere, supera i confini di ciò che è alta tecnica messa al servizio del messaggio artistico e, con i suoi giochi di luce e di ombre, con i suoi chiaroscuri, sottolinea il perenne rapporto tra inconscio e consapevolezza, tra istinto e razionalità, in un’alternanza che esprime, con grande poesia, le componenti dell’animo umano e ne svela le pieghe più nascoste. Quasi timoroso e fragile, racconta i propri sentimenti e le aspettative che attendono di essere vissute.
Cesare Cassone Castellaneta (TA), vive e lavora a Bari. Appassionato per la pittura, nel corso degli studi liceali, viene a contatto con alcuni artisti pugliesi. Al termine di tale periodo, l’artista, autodidatta, dipinge le prime opere, in cui evidenzia, quale motivo dominante, la interpretazione e rappresentazione della realtà circostante, nella quale ha vissuto fino ad allora, ricercando in particolare l’equilibrio tra luci e colori della natura e dei paesaggi della sua terra. Cesare Cassone Castellaneta (TA), lives and works in Bari. Passionate of painting, over the high school, he made contact with some artists from Puglia. At the end of this period, the self- taught artist painted his first works, which show, as a dominant theme, the interpretation and representation of the surrounding reality, in which he lived until then, searching for the balance between lights and colors of nature and landscape of his homeland.
Beniamino Fabiano (Bari). The artist, in his work, transcends the boundaries of what is high technique at the service of artistic message and, through its play of light and shadow, of chiaroscuro, emphasizes the eternal relationship between consciousness and the unconscious, between instinct and rationality, alternating it the artist expresses, with great poetry, the components of the human soul and reveals the most hidden part of it. Almost afraid and fragile, he shows his feelings and expectations that are waiting to be experienced.

Davide Morina nato a Catania, lucano di adozione. Tutto può diventare arte, qualsiasi cosa nasce dal nostro estro, dall’istinto, dall’espressione, dall’amore e dall’ossessione di liberarsi del peso di potersi esprimere. Comunicare, imparare o lasciare un segno eterno, indelebile. L’arte non ha canoni, nè accademie, non necessariamente. Nasce dall’interno e vive per sempre, muore di fronte al denaro.
Tiziano Bellomi (Verona) incisore, scultore e pittore è stato allievo del maestro Nereo Tedeschi. Ha poi frequentato i corsi annuali d’incisione: “Tecniche tradizionali” e “Grafica d’Arte contemporanea”, presso la Scuola Internazionale di Grafica di Venezia, sotto la guida di Matilde Dolcetti, Greg Murr, e Jeffrey Dell. Fa parte dell’Associazione Culturale Incisori Veronesi, di cui è socio fondatore, e dell’Associazione Incisori Veneti. Dal 1984 dedica il suo interesse ad un percorso artistico particolarmente volto al campo calcografico, sperimentando varie tecniche, è presente in vari cataloghi e le sue opere sono conservate in raccolte pubbliche e private.
Davide Morina was born in Catania, Basilicata is his adoptive region. Anything can become art, whatever comes out of our inspiration, instinct, expression, love and obsession of getting rid of the weight to express ourselves. Communicating, learning or leaving an eternal sign, indelible. Art has no rules, nor academies, not necessarily. Comes from inside and lives forever, it does not exist anymore in front of money.
Tiziano Bellomi (Verona) engraver, sculptor and painter was a pupil f the great master Nereo Tedeschi. In a later stage, he attended the engraver annual course “Traditional technique” and “Contemporary Graphic Art”, at International Graphic School of Venice, with the guide of Matilde Dolcetti, Greg Murr and Jeffrey Dell. He is part of the Cultural Printmaking Association of Verona, of which he is a founding member, and also of Printmaking Association of Veneto. Since 1984 he has been devoting his interest to an artistic search aimed at chalcographic field , experimenting with various technique. His works are included in various catalogue and held in public and private collection.

Mariva Zacharof (Atene) ha studiato Arte e Design a Londra. Successivamente si è specializzata nel campo dell’arte cinematografica. Ha vinto diversi premi in Grecia e in America. Attualmente vive e lavora ad Atene.
Theodora Dacula (Preveza-Grecia) ha studiato informatica e architettura in Grecia dove vive e lavora come designer. Pittrice e performer lavora nella realizzazione di opere di arte pubblica su commissione per enti pubblici e privati. I suoi lavori fanno parte di numerose collezioni.
Mariva Zacharof (Atene) studied Art and Design in London. Later she specialized in the field of Cinema Art. She won various awards in Greece and America. She currently lives and works in Athens.
Theodora Dacula (Prezeva – Greece) studied Computer Science and Architecture in Greece where she lives and works as designer. Painter and performer she works for the realization of public works, on order by public and private authorities. Her works are part of several collections.

Leonardo Schiavone (Torino) works and lives in Turin. Photographer, but he works also in the music, theatre and video field finding the right connection with the photography art. He participated successfully in several exhibitions and collaborates with private and public institutions.
Stella Kukulaki (Creta) studied at Fine Arts Academy in Florence, she was trained in advertising graphic, painting, printmaking and photography. She holds a diploma in Italian Culture and Language. She collaborates with public institutions and private in Italy and in Greece. Her works are part of public and private collection in Italy, Greece and Cine.

Infatti l’autrice si racconta: “Questa frase, che appartiene a Dostojevskii, mi ha accompagnato in tutto il mio percorso artistico. L’amore per l’arte figurativa e la musica, espressioni somme della bellezza, sono stati e saranno sempre il mio fine, la mia stella guida. Dedicare la mia vita alla ricerca costante della bellezza, della armonia, dell’amore che permea ogni elemento e ogni atomo della forma manifestata e’ la mia speranza e la mia aspirazione; indagare senza sosta e scoprire anche nel frammento, nel relitto, nella desolazione, nel cumulo di macerie la fiammella della Bellezza che illumina l’intero universo. WRO@Lucania Film Festival IL centro d’arte WTO è nato nel 2008 grazie alla Fondazione per Media Art WRO - un’organizzazione indipendente specializzata nelle aree dove l’arte e la cultura contemporanea s’intrecciano con lo sviluppo multimediale. Il Centro d’Arte, che è sostenuto dagli Enti Municipali di Wroclaw, si trova a Wroclaw (Polonia) all’indirizzo Widok 7 (View St.), è un edificio che è stato in parte costruito e in parte rinnovato, considerato sito d’interesse storico: la prima pianta di caffè tostato elettrico in Europa - the Otto Stiebler Kaffee Rösterei – aperto qui negli anni 90 del XIX secolo. Il Centro d’arte WRO - si caratterizza per presentazioni a cadenza regolare di arte contemporanea che s’intreccia con lo sviluppo di strumenti e processi di comunicazione.
