Creative Community Hub Adelaïde, Australia Generate an architecture that enhance interdisciplinarity and serendipity

2017 / Architecture International Competition Bee Breeders Organistion Creative Community Hub

50

This proposal for a creative hub in Adelaide aims at underlining the creative identity of the city by enabling it to welcome and host in the same place different forms of expression and productivity. The goal is to offer Adelaide’s inhabitants a large workshop where a variety of work modes and practices can bloom together in dynamic ways : individual/group work, digital/material crafting, co-working..

minds are cultivated actively through provoking serendipity : discoveries or innovations that may occur in unexpected ways through fortunate chains of cir- cumstances or research on unrelated topics.

The creative hub also has a role of cultural mediation and of knowledge exchange. It’s a place to think and to share. Thus the project favors interdisciplinary dialogue and meetings in order to foster generation of ideas and innovative projects.

In the pursuit of these goals, this project supplies Adelaide’s creative community with a common space to ll and appropriate, like a blank page or a machine whose exact function is to be determined. Moreover the circulation and transition areas are themselves open to multiple use : a staircase can become an auditorium, seats for a screening or a collective class.

Open, uid and modular, the spacial organization allows for a wide array of functions and uses. New directions and opportunities for creative thoughts and

The focused environment needed for these precious and fruitful mechanisms is guaranteed overall by a protective vegetal cocoon. In echo to the

gardens and parcs that surround Adelaide’s city center and allow it to breathe, inner vegetation lters the saturation of the main road and near by streets.

1 st Prize Winner

International Architecture Competition 2017

This project invits people of all types to explore, watch, or contribute to creative production. The sunken first floor and variations in below grade levels permit myriad lines of view among interior levels and the street.

The large stairs, can be used as an amphitheater for conferences or group lessons.

The patio becomes a volume welcoming the program, surounded by an indoor forest

Those stairs can also be used for movie projections or a work presentations

The large stairs, can be used as an informal and temporary concert venue

The Second Floor is a large platform created to be modular. Indeed the work areas can either welcome group or single individuals. These work spaces are organized like cells that you can gather or seperate depending on the work organisation you want to adopt.
