MONSTER ENERGY ROAD TO MAMMOTH ROUND 3
Road to Mammoth round THREE Race Report March 18, 2014 (Porterville OHV Park) We saw some new faces and new winners last weekend at Road to Mammoth round 3, Porterville OHV Park. The beautifully prepped track withstood the sun, making for great track conditions and a perfect day for spectators.
Road to Mammoth Round 3
A
lways looming for the competitors is the desire to qualify for the main event in Mammoth Lakes, CA on June 20-29, as well as the question: Who will be crowned the King of the West? Only the three remaining rounds will answer that question, but in the meantime, riders and their families spent the weekend having fun ripping it up on the track at Porterville. Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda rider Jessy Nelson set the bar once more in the three pro classes at round 3, but not far behind in 450 Pro Sport was the number 46 Yamaha of Jake Mohnike and the 753 Honda of Jesse Janco. Porterville native Joshua Camarena battled with Mohnike in both Open Pro-Sport motos, finishing not far behind Mohnike for third place overall. In the 250 Pro Sport class it was number 79 Joseph Reynolds in second behind Nelson, and Mohnike in third. Lucas Oil Legion rider Nick Nisbet ended the day with as many first place podiums as Nelson, sweeping every moto in 250 B, 450 B, and Open B for a total of three first place trophies on his 117 Suzuki. Nisbet was followed by 527 Joseph Marroquin, 312 Dylan Tighe, and 70 Derek Mcconnell respectively. It was a great race day for Zach Darnley on his 156 Kawasaki, who swept both

motos in Mini Sr 2 and took second in Supermini 1 behind Tyler Weyman on his number 20 Kawasaki. Gavin Leachman took second in Mini Sr 2, and a regular on the Lucas Oil podium, KTM rider Dustin Renteria, took third. Trevor Hooten dominated in the 450 C and 250 C classes on his 362 Honda, beating out 214 Blaine Silveira for second in both races. The women’s 12+ class brought some great competition, with 598 Suzuki rider Ryann Bradley battling number 11 Kawasaki rider Zariah Pitts and 42 Suzuki rider Kara Piper in all three motos. Bradley took the overall win after winning the second moto, followed by Pitts and Piper in second and third. Round 4 of Road to Mammoth kicks off on March 30th at Oatfield MX in Turlock, CA.
