THENEW DESIGN
The main concept of this design is to unite the high pedestrian traffic with the unused and potential spaces of the square, given them new interactive uses and reviving the performances that occurred while the National Theather existed. In that way, the center part of the square is lowered and united with the metro tunnels, atracting people with a big open space with stores in its both sides - separated from the bus lines and stops where people usually stand and wait.

The steel roof of the square sequenced with lines of trees, and it’s relation with the open part area, gives a identity to Blaha Lujza tér. This open space can be a stage for different kind of usage, during the time, season, weather and people’s interests. The square has also a open view to all sides, giving importance to the buildings and still remaining as a meeting point for locals and people that arrive with the public transportation. With this identity, Blaha Lujza can be the front door of the 8th District, showing citizens that this place is being renewed, and each day becoming more atractive.
