Back to school
Summer is over*. Bye bye sunshine and ice cream!
over: When we use the adverb over after the verb be, it means that something is finished, e.g. My favourite programme is over so I suppose I’d better start my homework now.
Hello teachers and homework*… … And horrible spinach at the canteen.
You are very familiar with homework, but do you know the word housework? Housework is a general word for jobs around the home, such as cleaning, washing up and making beds.
I love school!

Hello, I’m new at this school. Can* I sit next to you?
BY
2
We often use the modal verb can to ask permission for something. We can also use could and may for the same purpose. Both words are more polite than can but may is particularly formal. It is often used by young children when talking to their teacher: Please Miss, may I leave the room?

Moving* on “I love riding – it’s perfect for me because I love animals and I enjoy* being in the open* air. And I’m gradually getting* better because I’ve had some classes and my technique has* improved. The most difficult thing for me is jumping – that’s really hard*. Looking to the future “My dream is to compete one day but I still* need to learn a lot more. But riding makes me feel* really happy and free*, although* sometimes I feel* a* bit insecure and scared* of falling* off. In general tho’*, it helps* me to concentrate better and gives me confidence in myself and in my horse. And although* we ride different horses at the club, I have my own* personal favourite. Pages 16-17. Junior detective: 1. Where did the thief hide the gold nuggets? The gold nuggets are hidden in the bathroom. 2. How did the thief steal the gold nuggets without setting the alarm off? The thief caused an electricity cut to steal the gold nuggets without setting off the alarm. They cut a cable from the main generator outside. 3. Who’s the culprit and how did they commit the robbery? The culprit had to go outside to cut the cable. Sheila Schwimmer can’t dive so deep. Yvette Erinaire’s dolphin, Dodo, obviously can’t use tools. Davy Dryver’s saucer was in the workshop. So the robot IMER-G helped with the sabotage. Only two people know how to control it: Sheila Schwimmer and Ivor Komputa. Sheila was diving. So Ivor is the culprit. Ivor took 15 minutes to put the electricity back on using the emergency generator when he was next to it… In fact, he went down to the office. On the way, he saw Yvette and told her to go upstairs. He stole the gold nuggets, went back upstairs to hide them in the bathroom and then he put the electricity back on.
