Until what extent South Africa will be able to satisfy its energetic demand in the following years, having on account electrification plans and economic growth? 2. Could SA´s commitment toward a low-carbon economy serve as a role model for other African countries? 3. The Government plans aim to reduce coal dependence but Eskom is building Kusile and Medupi coal plants. Isn´t this a paradox? 4. Even though South Africa aims to diversify its energetic mix, it has the sixth biggest coal reserves in the world. What progresses are being made in Clean Coal Technologies and Carbon Capture and Storage in order to continue exploiting coal? 5. Until what measure is Eskom, as a state energy production and supply, in a conflict of interest for buying and selling electricity? 6. What does the Government expect of the private sector in the new energetic mix? 7. For 2030, 42% of the country´s total energy capacity should be renewable energy. Until what extent the price model is going to be attractive enough to achieve this objective? 8. Historically South Africa has had the lowest electricity prices in the world due to its abundance of cheap coal. But prices have increased at least 16%. What impact on growth, employment and competitiveness have had this price increases and what measures are being taken to avoid them? 9. The Karoo Basin represents the fifth largest shale gas field in the world, according to the USA´s Energy Administration. What will prevail to authorize or not fracking in the area? Environmental principles or energetic necessity? 10.Government also expects nuclear contribution to be of 23%. Don´t you fear suffering disasters like Fukushima? In what measure there is a nuclear debate going on amid society and politicians? 11.What importance does cooperation and integrated regional grids have in the construction of South Africa´s energetic future? 1
