2020 Festive Daytrips
Welcome As we all settle into our new normal we, like many, are looking forward to Christmas and wanted to let you know what we have planned. It has been a bumpy road so far this year and we all need a little of what we enjoy so whether it’s Christmas shopping for presents or you’re just looking for a bit of festive cheer we have many trips available with departures around the UK. You can travel in premier dining and enjoy the luxury of being served at your seat, first class with morning and afternoon refreshments served or in the standard class where you can bring a picnic hamper along or grab a cup of tea from the buffet trolley. However you decide to travel with us you will be able to sit back and relax, take in the views and embrace the atmosphere on board. We want your experience with us to be as enjoyable as ever but most importantly we want you to be safe. We have introduced measures on board ensuring that you can travel with us in confidence, so please take a look at our Travel the Safe Way guidance on our website. If you need more information or have questions relating to travelling now with our new normal my team and I are here to help so give us a call. From all of us here in King’s Lynn we thank you for your continued support and look forward to hearing from you and to welcoming you on board. Kelly Osborne Managing Director

Have a Great Day – the Safe Way To ensure our trips remain as memorable as ever, we will be working within safety procedures to ensure our guests have a safe and enjoyable journey. The safety of our customers, stewards and on train crew is our priority at the same time not detracting from the wonderful experience.

If you have had contact with anyone 14 days before travel who has symptoms or a confirmed case of the virus please do not travel, contact us and we will change your booking without charge. On Board: Face masks are mandatory on all of our trains at present, except for certain exemptions (see website for details). You are allowed to remove the face mask when eating or drinking, but the mask must be worn at all other times. When boarding the train, moving around the train or embarking, then the wearing of face masks is mandatory. If you have forgotten to bring face masks with you, we do have a limited number available on the day. Our on-board stewards will be temperature checked prior to departure, and will not travel with a high reading. Stewards will be wearing suitable PPE relevant at the time of travel based on government guidelines. We have added stickers throughout each carriage as a visual aid for social distancing. Please respect others and maintain social distancing throughout the train journey. When you board the train, please use the hand sanitiser dispensers which are placed near to each carriage entrance. This will help reduce possible infections. The toilets will be in use for the journey, but please ensure you use the hand sanitiser before entering the toilets and wash your hands after use. We will be operating a trolley buffet service to reduce the movement of passengers whilst the train is in motion. The buffet counter will not be open until legislation allows. We ask that you limit movement around the train only leaving your seat when absolutely necessary. Seating on board will allow for social distancing, in effect on your date of travel. Your booking party will all be seated together. This will help us to create the ‘family bubbles’ on the train to improve social distancing. Regular cleaning during the journey will be increased in the general areas including: Toilets, handrails, door handles and all touch points using anti-bacterial disinfectant wipes. Passengers will be encouraged to follow the guidelines regarding hand washing and we recommend that you carry hand sanitiser for personal use and reassurance during the journey.

Standard Conditions of Booking and Travel Every effort will be made to ensure that the locomotive, rolling stock, route and timings which are hired in from third parties, will run as advertised. However, the organisers reserve the right to alter these details at any time and shall not incur any liability to any person who has bought, or contracted to buy a ticket or tickets, as a result of any such changes. There may be occasional re-scheduling or re-routing of a train. Please note: Whilst every effort will be made to ensure the use of the advertised steam locomotive the organisers reserve the right to substitute a different steam locomotive on occasions should it be required, for operational reasons, which would have to be accepted, no refunds will be offered for changes to advertised locomotives. All reasonable efforts, within the control of the organisers, will be made to ensure that on the day of the trip, the train runs as planned. However, we cannot accept any responsibility for delays, mishaps, alterations or curtailment of the tour from situations outside of our control. Please note: All timings shown on our website are approximate and subject to change. Our trains will operate to our Covid 19 guidelines as per page 13 of this brochure, full details of these guidelines are available on our website or by request to our office. The operation of the Christmas Markets at destinations visited is outside of our control – we understand that the various organisers are hopeful they will take place, however it will be dependent on Government advice given at the time. In adverse conditions the train operating company, West Coast Railways, may feel the need to run with a diesel locomotive attached to the rear as a precaution. The nature of steam trains is that breakdowns, delays and substitutions have to be accepted. Every genuine effort will be made to ensure that the tour runs as planned and advertised, or as close to it as possible. In the event of a failure of the scheduled steam locomotive prior to departure of the trip, every best effort will be made to find a suitable steam locomotive as a replacement. However, if this is not possible and if there is insufficient time available to cancel or postpone the trip, then a diesel may be used as substitute. In such circumstances, outside of our control, acceptance of these terms signifies your acceptance of such a change and no refund will be due. The organisers cannot accept responsibility for the options under the control of third parties and are only responsible for returning passengers to their joining stations. Your booking is taken as constituting acceptance of these conditions. No refund or substitutions are available, other than due to cancellation by the organisers, which can happen on occasions. We will not be liable for any consequential loss you may suffer or pay any compensation to you. Due to the age and construction of our trains it is not possible to board whilst seated in a wheelchair, however we will be pleased to convey passengers of limited mobility whenever possible, provided they can step onto the train from the platform and move to their reserved seats with the help of an able-bodied carer, the wheelchair then being folded by you and stored at the end of the carriage. We are unable to convey mobility scooters or non-folding wheelchairs due to the age and design of the trains used. We are limited to only being able to provide a vegetarian dietary alternative, all other diet request are not available. We recommend that during the winter months you travel wearing suitable layered clothing as the carriages on occasion can be cold. Although they are heated, unforeseen complications along with the nature of travelling by steam in vintage carriages can result in cooler conditions for passengers than modern trains.
