Starter: 1. Fingerprinting: The Scotland yard fingerprint department was set up in 1901. In 1995 a computer system was launched allowed all English and Welsh police forces to compare fingerprints. 2. Radios: Modern communications makes it easier to report issues and call for back up. 3. Computers: Sorting information, finding patterns and matching evidence saves a huge amount of police time. 4. DNA evidence: Can be used to identify victims and criminals from tiny quantities of hair, blood and skin. 5. Cars and motorbikes: Greater mobility means police can get to crime scenes quicker. 6. CCTV: Can be used to monitor peoples behaviour in real time or recorded.
