Quick guide | Symbols & Icons Find the garments that fit you best I.L.S. - Interchangeable lining system Our Interchangeable Lining System or I.L.S. allows you to quickly adapt your outfit to the varying weather conditions, by simply adding or removing a lining. To this purpose, the outer jacket with I.L.S. functionality has an extra zipper inside. In this way, the wearer is protected against the harsh cold of the winter. Then later, when temperatures rise again, the extra zipped in garment can very easily be removed, thus making the jacket usable any time. Look for I.L.S icon for garments to which this applies.

Flame retardant

The flame retardant properties of a fabric are controlled by either inherent fibre configuration or by a durable treatment of the fabric. Garments according to EN ISO 11612 also offer protection against heat and flame hazards thus limiting the risk on 2nd and 3rd degree burns. These heat hazards include convective, radiation and contact heat plus hazards caused by projection of molten iron.

MULTINORM

The key feature of flame retardant clothes is that they have limited flame spread properties. When you accidently come into contact with flames, flame-retardant (FR) clothes will have limited afterflame once the source is removed and will not constitute a hazard in itself for the wearer. Flame retardant garments do not drip or melt, whereas non FR clothes will keep on burning with flaming and melting debris and thus causing severe burn injuries to the wearer.

When in contact with flames it will not propagate the production of flames, so the garment doesn’t become a hazard in itself for the user. Flexothane® Flame is a combination of high-quality hydrolysis resistant polyurethane coating on a stretchable, inherently flameretardant polyester knitting. This offers excellent waterproofness, wind protection and resistance to cold.

Those potentially explosive environments (ATEX) can occur for example in (petro) chemical industry or companies with activities in gas production, distribution and maintenance of installations. Even a little spark can be enough to ignite an explosion. One of the major risks in those environments is the built up of electrostatic electricity on the surface of the garment. An uncontrolled electrical discharge (spark) could cause ignition of the explosive atmosphere. If you work in such an environment it is of great importance to wear garments made in a fabric that does not give rise to the building up of electrical charges, but that dissipates them.
