Belize Assumes the Presidency of CONCECADE for Central America
Hon. Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Youth, Sport, and Transport was elected president of the Central American Region of CONCECADE, which is the regional sports council’s organization.
Minister Ferguson was voted as the President defeating his Honduran counterpart 5-2. He was nominated by Nicaragua.
Hon. Ferguson stated in a Facebook post, “I want to thank Nicaragua, for nominating me to vie, for the position, of the prestigious post.”
This organization works to coordinate regional sporting events, such as the Central American and Caribbean Games, and to promote the development of sports infrastructure, training, and competition at all levels.
The Central American and Caribbean Sports Council (CONCECADE) was founded in 1976 with the aim of promoting sports development and cooperation between countries in the region. It comprises of 22 member countries, including Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and various island nations in the Caribbean.
