ousa flatting magazine CRITIC MAGAZINE ‘07 - Technical Editor This was a publication aimed at educating students who were heading into a flat for the first time - either straight from home, or after a year of living in a hall of residence. I wanted this to look less playful than other publications because of the official “rules and regulations“ type of content it contained
UNI101 Magazine 2008 CRITIC MAGAZINE ‘07 - Technical Editor This publication outlined most 100 level papers at Otago Univeristy using the data gathered from a survey of first years who had taken the papers in 2007. It’s goal was to inform incoming students about the 100 level papers on offer, and how well-recommended they were by their fellow students. This was made after a year of designing for Critic and has quite a more mature look to it when compared to the other 2007 publications that I designed.

Various Advertisements CRITIC MAGAZINE ‘08 - Ad Designer I was the Ad Designer at Critic for a year following my tenure as Technical Editor. I enjoyed the challenge of getting an advert to look how I wanted it to look whilst also getting the client’s approval and working within the constraints of the magazines ad formats - this often involved working in greyscale. This work was usually done on a very tight deadline - sometimes I’d only have half a day to put an ad together from scratch. A lot of the images used were provided by the clients, otherwise I sourced stock images, or took my own photos.

EVENT POSTERS various clients - from 2007 to present day Here are a selection of posters made at the request of various people to advertise their shows. I really love making posters - I enjoy the challenge of coming up with some new idea, making it eye-grabbing, and getting a positive response from the client.

event POSTERS DUNEDIN MIDWINTER CARNIVAL 2012 I was contacted by the Director of the Dunedin Fringe Festival Trust to create the artwork and posters for their Midwinter Carnival, and Pecha Kucha night. This was a really enjoyable project, creating the illustrations in Illustrator and Photoshop. The smaller version of the poster with the Jack Frost in the breath cloud was made by request of the client but they decided to go with the child by itself. I wish they’d used Jack, I thought he was really cute.
print media radio one 91fm I have DJed and made posters for Radio One on and off for about a decade now. During my time as a volunteer, I frequently made posters for them advertising shows, gigs they were sponsoring, and merchandise. Once I started working for OUSA, I continued to design assets for them but through OUSA rather than as a volunteer.
print media OUSA Campaigns At the root of almost every campaign for OUSA is an A3 poster - from that, I also make up an array of digital assets, usually: TV screen slides; Facebook cover images and boosted post images; and a carousel image for the front page of the OUSA website. Some campaigns also require stickers or postcards, magnets, large tiled billboards around campus or other peripheral materials.
print media Capping Show 2013-2016 Capping Show is an annual sketch comedy show written, directed, and performed by Otago Students. Every year there’s a new concept but the assets are usually the same - posters, billboards, tv screens, postcards, t-shirts, programmes, facebook assets, web pages and so on. Each year I talk to the producer about what the show’s theme is and what ideas the cast and crew have for the campaign, then I take all of the photos and composite together the main poster from which the rest of the campaign is based. I enjoy making the Capping Show posters because I like the tongue-in-cheek sense of humour, and compositing images together is something I don’t get to do enough of Clockwise from top left: 2013 Capping Show “The Wizard of Capping Show”, 2014 Capping Show “The Night Before hyde St”, 2016 Capping Show “Making Grad”, 2015 Capping Show “Campus Watch” at A1, and “Campus Watch” made for the billboard space on campus under the ITS Building that spans the Leith.

Today I paid it forward! FRIDAY 13.05
Today I paid it forward!
• Fair trade is important for people in the developing world. It means they receive a fair price for what they produce. • Non fair trade producers are forced to sell their produce at prices so low, they aren’t able to make a decent living.
asset creation OUSA Campaign example: “Dunedin Craft Beer & Food Festival” 2015 The Dunedin Craft Beer & Food Festival is an annual event run by OUSA at Forsyth Barr Stadium. It’s a huge undertaking designing all the assets for the festival: from promotional materials (posters, billboards, web adverts, social media assets, newspaper and magazine adverts) to the website, to everything used at the festival (glasses, the programme, security lanyards, wristbands, wayfinding signage, VIP area signage... everything!) I was required to create three main icons- one for inorganic matter, one for organic waste, and one for community based organisations.
I was required to make a set of 13 icons to represent various resources that users can get through the site. The icons had to be shades of black and white.
LOGOS AND IDENTITY A number of logos made for a variety of groups and individuals over the past few years.
