UEFA Inter-Cities Fairs Cup

WELCOME

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please allow me to introduce our club to you in a few sentences. Ferencváros is the biggest and most succesful club not only in Budapest, but also in Hungary. We are the Hungarian record Champions with 28 Hungarian Championship Titles, 20 Hungarian Cup Titles and we won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (later called UEFA Cup and Europa League) in 1965, winning 1-0 against Juventus in the Final in Torino. After some hard times we are dedicated to come back to the European Competitions in the coming years. With the leadership of our headcoach, Thomas Doll and with the fantastic spring season performance of our players coming from Hungary and also from clubs like Real Madrid, HSV, Bochum or other European clubs we managed to reach the Europa League qualification phase. It is a big honour for Ferencváros to play against your team and to welcome you in the beautiful Hungarian capital, Budapest. My colleagues and myself will do everything to make these games an unforgettable experience for both teams.

Very best regards,

Pál Orosz CEO, Ferencváros orosz.pal@fradi.hu

HISTORY

Successful History

Ferencvárosi Torna Club was founded in 1899. The club has fifteen divisions and out of these, it is without doubt that men’s football is the most successful and well-known. Regarding football, no club in Hungary has earned more championship and Hungarian Cup titles than us. Besides, FTC is the only Hungarian team owning an international cup series title, namely the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup 1965 (now Europa League). The team got into the UEFA Champions League Group stage in 1995 and to the UEFA Cup Group stage in 2004. The club gave numerous Olympic, World and European champions and the only Hungarian Golden Ball winner, Albert Flórián, to the world’s sporting life, who represented the green-white club in a remarkable way. In his whole life, Flórián Albert served Ferencvárosi Torna Club and Hungarian football. The Emperor” became three times Top Scorer, four times Hungarian champion “ and one time Hungarian Cup winner. In recognition of his sustained splendor he received the Ballon d’Or of 1967 and remains Hungary’s only winner. Following his retirement, Albert served our club until his decease in 2011. Ferencvárosi Torna Club earned more than fifteen-hundred in team sports and one-thousand-four-hundred champion titles in individual sports. Since the foundation of the club, our athletes have won twenty-nine Olympic golden medals, thirty-five World Champion titles and sixty-seven European Champion titles. Today, Fradi has more than one-thousand-eight-hundred athletes under the directions of one hundred sixty-seven coaches. FOOTBALL HONOURS

SAY NO TO RACISM

Set an Example!

Being first in Hungary, Ferencvárosi Torna Club started its campaign against racism in 2012. Within its framework, first, we created a short video clip supporting the purpose of the campaign, in which many athletes from the different divisions of FTC emphasize the importance of respect towards the opponents on both the pitch and the stands. In recognition of our initiative FTC received the Fair-Play award of the Hungarian Olympic Committee. FTC’s president, Gábor Kubatov, and one player of our men’s football team, Somalia, represented the club on the award gala. On this occasion FTC presented another short clip continuing the campaign. The “Set an example” video proved to be extremely popular and emotional and was shown on all home matches organized in Ferenc Puskas Stadium on the giant screen. The club became solicitous for the fight against racism: CEO of FTC Ltd., Pál Orosz represented Ferencvárosi Torna Club on numerous conferences about this matter.

STADIUM

Its construction started in 1948 and the official opening ceremony was held in 1953. Although, the stadium has been renovated in the 1990s, its full capacity has been reduced from 56.000 to 35.100 (certificated by UEFA).
