FOOD YOU CAFE ATELIER SEPTEMBER The cutest aesthetic and killer avocado toast! Go for breakfast, stay for hours watching the trendy people on Gothersgade and reading the magazines sipping an iced matcha latte. There’s lots of light, perfect for taking food photos.

42Raw is a vegan paradise-- with bowls, lasagna, salads, smoothies, and vegan desserts, it’s a cant miss for fresh healthy eats.

My favorite pizza in Copenhagen. In the meatpacking district. Try the burrata pizza!

Paper Island, or PapirØen has an amazing street food market with tons of types of food and drinks. and a view of the waterfront. I love the vegetarian Colombian stand (Latienda). Pictured: Pasta from Il Matarello. Meat eaters try the fries from Copper&Wheat!

Blue Taco has amazing Mexican tacos with a bunch of vegetarian/Vegan options too! Located on a side street in Nørrebro.

CAN’T MISS Located on Jaegersborggade - a gem of a street & home of incredible fresh cinnamon rolls.

Great for the typical Dnish food Smorrebrød. It’s amazing quality, not too $$, and quick service! There’s a full restaurant and a “deli” which is still sit-down serivce.

Amazing pasta. Adorable little restaurant in Norrebro with fresh Italian ingredients. Lots of great vegetable based dishes.

MAHALLE BUTIK & CAFÈ

A super cute Middle Eastern cafe in the heart of Norrebro. Make sure to get the halloumi & the citrus salad. They have outdoor seating with blankets in case it gets chilly in the evening. There is outdoor seating too!

The best pancakwes I’ve ever had and other delicious brunch plates. Near Norreport station!

TORVEHALLERNE Also known as the glass market, Torvehallerne has a mix of produce, flower, butcher, and dry goods shops with restaurant stands. You must try: - Grod -- Even if you don’t like oatmeal, there are so may varieties you must check it out! - Greek -- The feta is as good as in Greece! - Coffee Collective -- So many types!

The historical center. There are restaurants, nightlife, palaces, museums, shopping, squares & the beautiful King's Garden and Botanical Gardens. And of course, the famous nyhavn canal. and little mermaid statue (which is overrated). Stroll through the colorful streets and shop on strøget. FREE&ALTERNATIVE FREE&ALTERNATIVE FREE&ALTERNATIVE

christiania

Freetown Christiania: an autonomous district within the city. No cars allowed. There’s a beautiful lake, cool murals, and an amazing vegetarian restaurant called Morganstedet. Also known for pusher street, where they sell many varieties of cannabis. No photos allowed! Go in the afternoon, stay for the night.

HIP&vVIBRANT HIP&VIBRANT HIP&VIBRANT

nørrebro

My personal favorite area! Must sees: Jaegersborggade, a colorful street full of shops and eateries. Bike through Assistens Cemetery and see Hans Christan Andersen’s grave. Go to the ACNE archive and the vintage shops and boutiques nearby. Check out Superkilen Urban park for awesome design, and end your day with a sunset stroll by the fives lakes. and a drink at one of the chill bars all over.

EDGY&TRENDY EDGY&TRENDY EDGY&TRENDY

Used to contain the red light district, but gentrification has changed the area. There’s still some vintage shops & character. You absolutely must go to Tivoli Gardens, a giant amusement park! Go in the evening before or after dinner in the meatpacking district.

TRANSPORATION • Get a bike (and a helmet). People bike everywhere, every weather. • Hand signals on the bike! Left, right, stop. Learn them, love them. • People may ding their bike bells at you. It’s ok. • Buy a Rejeskort (travel card) if you’ll use the metro a lot. It’s cheaper and easier to use. • Remember to check in and out on the metro. Very occassionally they check • The metro from the airport to center is so easy and cheap. Follow the signs and get on; it’s just one direction. • CityMapper is the best public transportation app

CULTURE Danes are not very warm, but they’re not mean. It just takes a while to get them to open up. Don’t get discouraged. 1 USD = About 7DKK Many shops are closed on MONDAYS People don’t really jay walk. You can get by completely with English. People may talk to you in Danish, but if you say “Sorry, I don’t speak Danish” they switch to English. Most Danish people are bilingual! There are lots of young parents who still go out. Danes are super into healthy food. You MUST check out the 7-11s! They’re everywhere.
