Sentenced was founded by designers Georgia Wilkinson & Lucy Graham, from Leeds. By definition, Sentenced is a way of thinking or an opinion; the brand aims to change a consumers’ way of thinking by bringing awareness and educating consumers on the environmental impacts of the fashion industry. Sentenced was launched with a mission to bring back quality over quantity; buy better and buy less. The brand strives to empower women through their unique designs and make a mark on the industry globally.
LUCY’S 5
Sentenced was established in 2019 & launched just under a year later in 2020, during the pandemic. Although we both had a background in fashion, there were areas we would meet to discuss and educate each other. The work ethic and constant effort to better ourselves is how the brand was founded. We are determined, smart & empowering; we are always looking to improve and bring awareness to causes we feel strongly about, particularly the environment. With our fashion backgrounds and the environmental awareness, it was clear to us that we had the drive to create and grow a brand that is not only unique but responsible too. Sentenced is a step away from fast fashion & towards a cleaner, healthier future. Sentenced recognises that for something to be sustainable it must be achievable & maintainable. This is where sentenced bridges the gap between affordability & sustainable luxury. Becoming business owners is a working progress. We are still learning, it’s really difficult at times and it takes a lot of time but we love it. Sentenced is so fulfilling and we do it because we feel strongly about the product, the design & effects. We strongly encourage anyone wanting to start a fashion business and any existing businesses out there to really look at their supply chains and how they effect the environment. If everyone can make a conscious effort to do a little, it will make a huge difference. Our advice is: plan ahead, be organised and prioritise; this will look different for every business but it’s necessary in them all. We are both inspired by a multitude of things! Lucy finds inspiration in previous decades such as the Eighties and silhouettes and prints synonymous with that period. Georgia is inspired by objects and the beauty in every day; the juxtaposition is what influences the designs. The silk Blair dress & co-ordinating Bibi hoodie are a synthesis of our personal styles & influences.
We see Sentenced becoming a driving force for change in the fashion industry, helping others to see the importance in being sustainable yet unique. We have so many things we wish to achieve & we know we will. We hope will you join & follow us on this journey. Sentenced has always been the dream, for us both. The two of us share the same values as well as the love for design and creativity. Even as children we knew the fashion industry is where we wanted to be and we’ve made every effort to get to where we are now. Sentenced pieces are made to exist for a lifetime, using innovative fabrications, certified GOTS materials & modern craftsmanship. Womenswear should celebrate the female form. The female body is art and we love to dress women in clothing that is individual, high-quality & kind to the environment.

What inspired you to you start Rachelment? What started as a hobby getting me through a doctoral program in psychology eventually became a passion of mine. When I was particularly stressed about my classes, I made pendants and other kinds of jewelry for a few of my friends and family members just for fun. When I realized how much I actually loved jewelry and how it felt when I gave it to someone, I knew I had a calling other than psychology. I took a risk with the financial help of my mother and I officially launched Rachelment The Label in 2018 after independently planning and designing the brand for months. Psychology was my first love, but jewelry and entrepreneurship are my epic loves. What led you to design? I have always wanted something of my own- something people could have and enjoy that was a product of my own work. This desire is fulfilled with running RMTL, as I make virtually every decision from A-Z. Design is one of the best parts of running my business and nothing is more exciting to me than seeing the reaction week after week of my clients when new items are released. How would you define the Rachelment woman? The RMTL woman is mysterious. She leaves people wondering. People want to know where her jewelry is from. They want her opinion. She is classy and understated, yet unforgettable. She is mature and unique. Who is on your wish list to dress? #1 on my wish list is the infamous Kim Kardashian. She’s my inspiration in terms of being a businesswoman and powerhouse- and her beauty is breathtaking. She is positively influential and could easily change my entire life. How do you think social media has played a role in your success? Social media has been the KEY to having a successful business. You can reach an infinite amount of people, and there is always opportunity to grow your business there. It sounds easier than it is, though. I spend roughly 25 hours a week just planning social media strategies and marketingso there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. My favorite part about having social media for my business is being able to connect with my customers, as well as showcase my brand aesthetic. How does it feel to be young female business owner in today’s industry? I am grateful for the opportunities that have been afforded to me through my mentors, as well as the choices and risks I have made and taken along the way. Becoming a business owner has been one of the best decisions I have ever made, and being a young female just gives me more time to build my success. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? In the next 5 years I hope my brand will become more recognizable, and also be available in stores. I don’t want to be known for volume necessarily, but for having a brand identity that is so strong, you can look at imagery and think to yourself: “that’s Rachelment.”
LUCY’S 7 What inspires you to create new collections/designs season after season? I draw inspiration from my own style, as well as high fashion diamond jewelry. Self-motivation is the only thing that really gets me through. Rachelment has a new item released every single Friday which is hard to keep up with but is constant motivation for me. Since I operate RMTL myself, if I don’t do something, it doesn’t get done. That right there, and the money of course, is my motivation! If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career what would it be? You’re doing the right thing- this risk will pay off. As a young entrepreneur, what advice would you give to girls wanting start their own business? My advice is to get organized- you can never be too organized. Do your research of the industry, and don’t be shy with investing in research. Most of all: learn to love what you are doing. If you’re not passionate about your business, it will show and you will struggle more than necessary (especially in the beginning).

In this editorial I wanted to represent that moment of nostalgia that is felt when remembering a deep love in a dream place. "Dreaming cuba" Remembering every corner in which they were together and now it only remains in her memory. The dark and opaque colors of that memory become like a cinematographic tape that is rewound again, longing for it to happen again.

Social awareness and need for uniqueness and selfexpression is potent and continues to grow. Although, diversity and inclusivity are still one of the biggest issues in the fashion industry, that is deep-rooted in stereotypes and prejudice. It is known that stereotypes can still affect and change people's perceptions of others. Furthermore, for decades the fashion industry was promoting “lofty ideas” and unrealistic definition of beauty, especially in the modelling sector, which resulted in limitations in self-expression and self-esteem growth; it left no room for diversity and made fashion unrelatable. This series brings to life the definition of uniqueness as a quality of being one of a kind, showcasing the beauty and uniqueness of redhaired models only. Perception of Uniqueness and Diversity within Arts
Uniqueness as a quality of being one of a kind, remarkable, unequalled and incomparable. With the need and sense of uniqueness, diversity and inclusivity have been one of the biggest issues in the Fashion industry for decades. To fight the lack of diversity I embrace uniqueness and break stereotypes by showcasing the beauty of redhead models only.
LUCY’S 159
The fashion industry has long been called for lack of diversity and been deep-rooted in prejudice. Fashion sells trends but it should also set the trend on creating an equal society. It is not a secret that for decades, the definition of beauty was heavily narrowed, especially in the modelling sector. Along with garments, the fashion industry also sells self-esteem and personal identity, therefore it should create a safe place where all individuals can express themselves and their uniqueness through the fashion and not feel judged by not following “the usual” or “known” trends.
LUCY’S 161
Estimates are that less than 2% of the World’s population is red haired. It makes people with red hair stand out more from the crowd and make them even more unique. The rarity of red hair made people with other hair colour suspicious though creating loads of stereotypes stigmatising red hair and its uniqueness. The Fashion industry is simply not celebrating uniqueness to its full potential, however, people are more and more aware of their identity, want to own it and are not scared to express their uniqueness.
LUCY’S 163
Among stereotypes and prejudice, which don’t portray people as individuals because they ignore complexity and diversity, therefore reject uniqueness. With stereotypes that often influence and shape how people interact with each other, and how they portray themselves, it is important to grow confidence within ourselves. The confidence that will help to promote acceptance and normalise the “different”, embracing uniqueness.
Stereotyping is assuming about others things that most of the time don’t reflect the reality, and is not true. Prejudice and discrimination towards redheads is not new, nor uncommon. Studies showed that 92% of men and 87% of women with red hair report being mocked or bullied because of their hair colour. Disagreeing with a strong stigmatisation of red hair, and believing that red haired people are hot-tempered, wacky or strange I show you that they simply represent joy, warmth, enthusiasm, creativity, expression and success.

Fátima Chapel is a brand, from a young designer, open to any public with a young spirit. Where you seek to get out of the comfort zone and the trends imposed by consumer society. It is characterized by having a naive and kitsch identity, giving great importance to the combination of colors. Cause an impact to the consumer and generate sympathy. A cry of freedom and fun that characterizes the designs of the Chapel of Fatima. The most kitsch soleá, a declaration of love for flamenco with a dissident vision of it through kitsch culture. It is a breath of encouragement to stay calm when the world may seem unstable or confusing. It's like a little push of breath to dive deep into imagination and loosen up at every fold, layer, and seam as you explore at full capacity without feeling any trace of the ridiculous. Through the following collection, the relationship between flamenco and kitsch culture is observed, delving into the aesthetics of both and what they entail. Kitsch aesthetics refers to what is considered cheesy, tacky, childish, a plus is more. Sometimes it is considered in bad taste or oldfashioned, although from another perspective it is the way of ironic and exaggerating fashion, a way of "pretending to be". On the other hand, flamenco is an artistic expression that is born from the mixture of various cultures and is part of the Spanish culture and imagination. This mixture of references is what gives a context to create the collection. They want to alter the normality of the functioning of society. Perverting the public in a way inspired by art and visual aesthetics.
