RAMONA When and how did you start your own business? What inspired you to do so? OANA POP I started my business a year ago. After several attempts of getting an internship in this field and the urge to materialize all my projects, I’ve decided to take a risk and to start my own company, my own collection. I guess the passion for design inspired me to take this step.

RAMONA Where do you get your inspiration from? OANA POP Inspiration can literally come from anywhere, may it be music, a character from a book, nature...but what inspires me the most, I think is art and fashion itself. RAMONA What’s your favorite piece that you’ve created and why ? OANA POP Well... I love them all, but my favorite pieces are from my new collection line that I will present in Budapest at the Hungarian Open Europe Coup. RAMONA Who is your favorite designer and why ? OANA POP I don’t think I have a favorite designer, I like many designers from several points of view. I like Ralph Lauren for his touch of elegance yet casual looks. I like Oliver Rousteing for his sexy and complex construction of his collections, Dolce and Gabbana for the unmistakable luxurious style and of course our designer Maria Lucia Hohan, with her angelics looks, simple lines and nude palette. Each and every one of them are an inspiration. RAMONA Favorite color? OANA POP I honestly don’t know, I think I don’t have one. It depends on my mood. Right now I would go with different shades of gray. RAMONA What’s your favorite part about being a designer? OANA POP My favorite part of being a designer is being able to do what I love more, being able to express my inner world, myself, through my work and I guess that makes me feel a little vulnerable in a way but at the same time it helps me connect with people and that makes me happy. RAMONA Least favorite? OANA POP I love and enjoy every part of it, but if I have to choose it would be the search for the perfect fabric. RAMONA What are your goals and where do you see your brand in 10 years? OANA POP My goal is to learn and absorb everything that this field of fashion industry has to offer so in 10 years this brand will be known for its quality and innovation. Also people will be able to relate to it because art and fashion are always related to me.

It took 7 years to get here; to this moment. Seven years of hard work and practice, failure and joy. A beautiful moment of creation following a period of frustration. Reaching acceptance of who I am as a human being and as an artist. You can feel her, this breath of fresh air. A new representation of whatʼs possible; coloring outside the lines. As this issue marks the third anniversary of LUCY’S, it is vital for our readers to be reminded of why we are here. Respectively, thousands of fashion magazines exist in this world and each one begins with a purpose to present images reflective of what is considered to be beautiful.
Such images come in all forms. There is beauty that commercialization has set at fixed prices. There is beauty that has become conflated with social media fame. There is beauty that has been, through the mere-exposure effect, under the radar of us all. The beauty we promote is that which derives from an artist’s vision. The collaborative vision has been achieved here from the intricate technique required to assemble beads on the human neck and facial features. The abstract costume of interconnected metallic circles encapsulates a sophisticated complexity beyond the imagination.
Each shot is a masterpiece documented for eternity by Jayden Fa. He captures emotion just Roxy and Lily are able to portray, delicate makeup artistry only Michelle Webb and Serena Grace Horn Pereira can perform, and exquisite garment assortment no stylist other than Sarah-Maria Booth is capable of.
While economic power and popular status are important to stabilize the fashion industry and its participants, creative visions are for eyes that do not need to buy beauty in order to know its value. It is not the number of likes a photo receives on Instagram that makes it beautiful. Beauty cannot appear out of the thin air of currency or status.
