IDEATION The initial idea is to place the artworks in the suitcase so that they could be carried and shown everywhere. Size: Letter Size Sketchbook Colored Pencil Date: May, 2014
MULTIPLE LAYERS PREFACE You will never enjoy your life if you choose to live inside a box. If you are so afraid of taking chances, how could you reach the top? In this project, I have put my feelings about the university.
The suitcase is not only the container of things, but also the carrier of the memories. Many people have the habit of collecting suitcases. So I decided to show multiple contents in different layers. Size: Letter Size Sketchbook Colored Pencil Date: May, 2014

LACQUER PAINTING Part Introduction These might be the most experimental and radical works in this portfolio. In this part I tried to merge the paints together to create brand new color effects and textures and apply them in the products.
This photo shows the final works of this project. In the left, there are four paint attempts as the exploration. In the right, there are the final works that use the similar techniques.
CHAOS

I really enjoy the process of paint works. It is great fun to see the blending and changing of the paints.

LACQUER PAINTING 27/28
NERVES ROAM
Disordered Planet Like a pool of vomit, an exploding garbage, a round island or a disordered planet full of rubbish, this is the first work of this series. The concept is simple, the planet is absorbing the garbages from the universe until it could not bear the quality and explode. In this piece of work, I modified it again and again like the absorbing and the final effect looks like the disordered planet.
In the picture, there are the floating characters, the textures of the nerves, the neural dendrites and the swimming goldenfish. The combination of red and black is mysterious and noble. However, the green spot in the center breaks the peace of it all.
Part Four
LACQUER PAINTING 29/30
GRYFFINDOR COLORS
The sky is dark blue and the earth is yellow, for the world comes into being under the chaotic state of ignorance. The inspiration is the status of my heart that in the endless chaos and muddledness.
COMB
I used the noble green as the base color and then painted it with golden color to give the comb a dazzling look. Hopefully, through this comb, I could tease all the madness and chaos in the previous paint works.
However, the scarlet and golden are the representitive colors of the Gryffindor. Please give me the sword of gryffindor to put an end.
Part Four
LACQUER PAINTING 31/32
BOX With the opening of the box, the pattern is opened too. In the box, there hides the inspiration and the source of dream. As for the patterns in the corner, a code combining is wating to be discovered.

LIVE IN THE MOMENT Part Introduction I have always loved to read and touch books so I would like to make one of my own. The coursework of this selective course is to make one book that you like.
PREFACE
The draft sketch above was the first attampt of my portfolio according to the finished time of each work. But in the computer layout design process, I realized that this is not what I like. I thought that what if the book is the diary so that I could do anything I like.
The initial plan was to make a portfolio of my works to memorise the precious years of my university. I have the habit of keeping diary, therefore I would like to compose my portfolio in the form of dairy.
Part Five
LIVE IN THE MOMENT 35/36
THE MOMENTS
The mobile network has totally changed our life and I have kept my “diary in the App called WeChat for a long time, so have my friends. I the last days of 2013, I drew each moment of my friends on cotton cloth. So I decided to record the days from the end of 2013 to the beginning of 2014 on the cloth, and wrap it into the envelop as the special book for me.
Part Five
LIVE IN THE MOMENT 37/38
THE MOMENTS This is the final “book” of the moments. The cover of it was proposed to be the icon of the App WeChat so that everyone would know that it is the physical version of the moments.

A BITE OF BOOK Part Introduction This project is an attampt of the materials and making processes. Our group chose the wheat flour as the raw material. My contrubition in the group was the concept generation and the making of the battercake-note book.
The battercake made of wheat flour is a very common food in China, especially in north China. But as part of the Chinese culture, it seems that the food has nothing to do with the culture.
SKETCH In the concept sketch, we proposed the possibilities like the & ATTEMPTS dictionary, painting album, bamboo slip and even the scroll. Later, we had some attempts to test the feasibility.
