WELCOME TO DUNSTABLE TOWN FC

WELCOME TO DUNSTABLE

TOWN FC. WE’RE A SEMI PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL CLUB, 100% COMMUNITY/FAN OWNED & OVER 140 YEARS OLD

Former players include George Best, Jeff Astle, Kerry Dixon & more recently, Peter Kioso.

We’re a Community Benefit Society and operate as a social enterprise. We’re pioneers in promoting good mental health, running three mental health support groups in the town. Our community support programme, Improving the Lives of Others, has equal importance to the football side of the Club.

Every week we run 13 different community groups that support over 150 local people.

It’s a unique approach to running a football club but one which has enabled us to double our supporter numbers and individual owners.

The Non-League Paper made us their Community Club of the Year 2024. Beds FA previously voted us their Grassroots Club of the Year two years running.

We’d love you to become part of the Club and help us with all the work we do, both on and off the pitch.

I hope you enjoy reading all about us.

COMMUNITY BENEFIT SOCIETY

DUNSTABLE TOWN FC ACHIEVED COMMUNITY BENEFIT SOCIETY (CBS)

STATUS ON JULY 8TH 2021. THE CLUB OPERATES AS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE AND IS ONE OF ONLY 36 SEMI-PROFESSIONAL CLUBS REGISTERED WITH THE FINANCIAL CONDUCT AUTHORITY TO OPERATE IN THIS MANNER.

Our community support programme, Improving the Lives of Others, has equal importance to us as the success of our football teams.

We belong to the Community Owned Clubs network of the Football Supporters Association (FSA) who oversee our governance and accountability. Improving the Lives of Others now helps over 150 local people every week through 13 different support groups. . This includes nine hours of mental health support for people with lived experience of mental ill-health and in recovery.

We run three mental health peer support groups every week and a support group for people who may be feeling lonely and socially isolated. The latter a partnership with Titan PCN.

Additionally, we operate three Walking Football groups, one of which is a specialist group for people living with dementia in collaboration with Tibbs Dementia Foundation.

There are five other groups ranging from Women’s Recreational Football every Monday and Womens Walking Football every Thursday. We’re a fan owned club and use a proportion of each fan’s membership payments to help meet some of the costs of providing the support groups. Becoming a sponsor or an owner of Dunstable Town FC enables us to reach even more people with specific needs. On behalf of the many people living in our community who will benefit from your kindness and generosity, thank you.

HISTORY

DUNSTABLE TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB WAS FORMED IN OCTOBER 1883 AND IS CURRENTLY MANAGED BY JOE DEENEY, ASSISTED BY KYLE DURCAN.

“ THE CLUB HAS BEEN HOME TO A NUMBER OF HIGH-PROFILE FOOTBALLERS IN ITS HISTORY, INCLUDING MANCHESTER UNITED GREAT, GEORGE BEST”

The club in its history has won the Colwyn Cup, The Beds County Floodlit Cup, The Bedfordshire Senior Cup, The Bedfordshire Premier Cup and The Eastern Junior Cup, as well as numerous nonleague titles.

Nicknamed ‘The Blues’, the football club play at Creasey Park, although it was redeveloped in 2011. We are proud to be one of three teams in English football to have gone an entire season unbeaten, during which we won 36 of our 42 games and drew the other six, winning the SSMFL Premier League in the 2012/13 season.

This was followed by a second promotion in as many seasons from the Southern League Central Division to the Southern Premier Division. The club now competes in the Spartan South Midlands Football League Premier Division.

The club has been home to a number of highprofile footballers in its history, including Manchester United great, George Best, who played in three friendlies in the 1970s to help raise vital funds, as well as spending £25 of his own money on new nets for the goals.

Alongside Best, Jeff Astle also played for the club in the 1974/75 season, scoring 34 goals. Although this may seem like a large tally, it doesn’t compare to the 54 Lee Roache scored during the ‘Invincibles’ season. The striker and now Dunstable legend left at the end of the 2015/16 season.

In 2021 Dunstable Town Football Club relaunched as a Community Benefit Society (CBS), which is a recognised legal entity structure, supported by the FSA (Football Supporters Association) and regulated by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority). This means that the club is owned equally by its shareholders and anyone can become a shareholder with equal voting rights. All shareholders are equal, and no person has overall control.

The Glider is a very welcoming estate pub situated in Lowther Rd, Dunstable.

Open 7 days a week, we are accredited with a cask mark award for fine ales as well as stocking a wide range of beers and ciders. The venue can accommodate and cater for group and family celebrations subject to availability. Tel. Kieran Walker

FIRST TEAM

OUR FIRST TEAM PLAY IN THE PREMIER DIVISION OF THE SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS FOOTBALL LEAGUE. IT’S A GEOGRAPHICAL LEAGUE, WITH ALL TEAMS APPROXIMATELY WITHIN A 30 MILE RADIUS.

Steve O’Reilly was appointed First Team Manager in the Spring, following Joe Deeney’s departure back into the professional game. Steve’s brought with him an experienced team of coaches, Liam Dwyer, Rob Swan, Rich Bullings & Rory McMullan.

Steve’s predecessors from our inception along the community route in 2017 are all in the Club’s Hall of Fame, Tony McCool, Gareth Jackson, who sadly passed away in July 2024 & Joe Deeney. Some of the nicest men in football have set the bar high for Steve & his colleagues to follow.

Our players are all semi-professional and are either in full-time education or employment. The squad this season is young with an average age of just 20 years old. It’s a squad full of talented individuals who will be up against seasoned, older players in opposition teams. An interesting season lies ahead of us to see whether our younger players are able to achieve their potential.

Our goal is promotion to the Southern League, but as a Community Benefit Society, our guiding principles are to provide a long term financially stable future for the Club, this means we will never spend a penny more than we can afford to on a playing budget.

YOUTH

LOCALLY, DUNSTABLE TOWN FC

IS UNIQUE IN ITS APPROACH TO YOUTH FOOTBALL.

As a Community Benefit Society all revenues are reinvested into the club, including youth subscriptions. We are 100% community owned meaning we don’t have to use these fees to support other businesses, or to pay back investors We are the fastest growing youth section based at our excellent Creasey Park facilities.

We operate as ‘one club’ where the youth section is integral to the club, there is a genuine pathway for boys and girls into adult senior football.

All of our youth players play for an historic, progressive, semi-professional football club.

With over 30 teams (and still growing!) we cater for a wide range of abilities, from those that wish to just play for fun with friends, all the way through to elite player levels.

Several of our former youth players have become semi-professional footballers at our club, while some have developed at Dunstable Town and been snapped up by Premier league and EFL academies.

LADIES & LIONESSES

‘THE REACTION TO THE SUCCESS AND THE WAY IT TRANSCENDED SOCIETY HAS GIVEN US AN UNPRECEDENTED CHANCE TO CHANGE THE FUTURE OF THE WOMEN’S GAME FOREVER. IT HAS TURBO CHARGED OUR STRATEGY WITH DEMAND GROWING RIGHT CROSS THE GAME. WE HAVE SEEN MORE GIRLS STEPPING FORWARD TO PLAY, MORE FANS FILLING OUR STADIUMS AND NEW COMMERCIAL PARTNERS ALL WANTING TO BE PART OF THIS GREAT MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE’.

This quote from the Football Association’s website in reference to the Lionesses success in the Euro’s of 2022, provided the stimulus for another exciting chapter in Dunstable Town’s long and illustrious history.

Our football development officers went to work, and by 2023 the club were funding free taster sessions for girls to play football, some trying the game for the very first time. We partnered with local schools who were delighted with the facilities and quality of coaching and support we provide.

As we head into the 2024/25 season, we are proud to field an adult ladies’ team who will play on the stadium pitch at Creasey Park. As the best supported club in the town, the team can look forward to a loud and loyal support from our many fans!

We also have a growing number of Lionesses teams in our expanding youth section for our younger girls and a pathway is being developed all the way through to the under 18s and into the senior team.

FACILITIES

CREASEY PARK HAS BEEN OUR HOME FOR OVER 60 YEARS. BUT WE DON’T OWN THE SITE OR ANY OF THE FACILITIES.

This magnificent, state of the art facility is owned by Central Beds Council & managed on a day to day basis by Bedfordshire Football Association. We hire the facilities for our matches and training sessions.

The swings and roundabouts of this arrangement means that we don’t have to worry about carrying out any repairs to the building or worry about pitch maintenance. When a floodlight bulb stops working we don’t need to worry about replacing it. The flip side of the coin though is that we don’t have a clubhouse to hire out for private parties and we don’t receive any secondary spend from our spectators and fans from the sale of drinks and food on matchdays.

As well as a superb grass main pitch there are two all weather pitches, and a large number of smaller grass pitches for our youth teams to play on.

Creasey Park also has a BMX track at the back of the facility and two large car parks which provide free parking for spectators and stadium users.

OWNERSHIP

DUNSTABLE TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB HAS RELAUNCHED AS A COMMUNITY BENEFIT SOCIETY (CBS), WHICH IS A RECOGNISED LEGAL ENTITY STRUCTURE, SUPPORTED BY THE FOOTBALL SUPPORTERS ASSOCIATION AND REGULATED BY THE FINANCIAL CONDUCT AUTHORITY.

We have six fully fenced fields located in Woodside, Eaton Bray, Stewkley, Ridgmont, Ashley Green & Kempston. Offering owners a safe & secure environment for dogs to run freely & play.

The areas are perfect for practicing training & recall or anybody just looking to have some off the lead fun with their dogs.

Only one booking is possible for each time slot so you will have exclusive use of the area meaning it is also suitable for nervous & antisocial dogs.

OWNERSHIP

THIS MEANS THAT THE CLUB IS EQUALLY OWNED BY ITS SHAREHOLDERS AND ANYONE CAN BECOME A SHAREHOLDER WITH EQUAL VOTING RIGHTS. ALL SHAREHOLDERS ARE EQUAL, AND NO PERSON HAS OVERALL CONTROL.

We are a real fan-owned club that puts you, the fan, in power!

We have different tiers of membership available, catering for different requirements and circumstances.
