Regular skin checking will help you get to know your skin and catch anything early, making it easier to treat. Type of skin cancer: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) & squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) These are the most common forms of skin cancer, which arise within the top layer of the skin, appearing anywhere, but mostly on sun exposed sites. BCC: usually slow growing, a pinkish bump that can bleed and scab. SCC: usually quick growing, a thickened scaly, or red ulcerated bump that can be painful and bleed.
Melanoma This is less common, but much more dangerous. If left, the cells can grow deeper into the skin and travel to different areas of the body.

How to perform a skin check: Once a month, examine your skin in a well-lit area, noting all moles, marks and spots, charting the location, appearance, and dimensions of each. Taking pictures can be helpful, as can the help of ‘another’ for those ‘hardto-see’ places: 1.
Start with your front, back, left and right sides.
2. Bend elbows and check forearms, back of upper arms and palms. 3. Check backs of legs, feet, spaces between toes, soles of feet, and nails. 4. Examine back of neck, part hair to check scalp using a mirror or torch. 5. Carefully check your back and buttocks. If you spot anything new and/or changing, whether coloured or not, bleeding, crusty or itchy, contact your GP IMMEDIATELY.

A True Gem of a Course – Golf World
History It seems certain the land to the edge of Newton Cliffs has been cultivated for many years. The texture of the grass of the present course indicates how well nurtured it has been. A map provisionally dated as 1842, shows a maze of small fields between Newton Village and Langland Bay in the south, and Caswell Bay in the west, with no roads south of the village other than Mary Twill Lane, and a steep cart track on the line of Brynfield Road.
had been merged into larger units; the house, then known as Llan-y-Llan, then latterly the Langland Bay Convalescent Home had been built, together with numerous coach houses and outbuildings. It appears this imposing property was built by the Crawshay Merthyr Tydfil ironmasters, for use as a summer residence. Further to the west, the 1852 map now shows Langland Farm, years later described as Langland House Farm.
A further map, provisionally dated 1852, shows a considerable change has taken place in the area. The small fields
It seems possible the main buildings of our present clubhouse, together with the outbuildings on the line of our new
locker room complex, were constructed at the same time as with Llan-y-Llan in the nineteenth century. The limestone for the building of the house and the farm was locally obtained from quarries alongside the club’s present 14th tee, in addition to the larger quarries of Coltshill and Oystermouth. Old inhabitants of Newton Village have said golf was played on the clifftop in the nineteenth century, but the first written mention of golf at Langland is in the club’s first minute book – dated 24th September 1901, at a meeting in the Langland Bay Hotel.

...History The course was officially scheduled to be opened on Saturday, September 10th 1904, when the President, Sir John Jones Jenkins (later Lord Glantawe) was asked, weather permitting, to drive off. The course played in 1904 was all in front of the farmhouse, and the plan was shown on a score card, a copy of which is retained in the original minute book. The founders formed a committee which decided the club should be called Langland Bay Golf Club and agreed; 100 years later, in 2004 the event was remembered during a centenary year
of celebration marked by some very special visitors. 2004 was the clubs Centenary year and all the members were determined to make it a year to remember. There were a number of extra social events – all sold out, and many extra and varied golf events – all again fully subsidised. The highlights of these were twofold: The Centenary week when our friends from Kinsale visited for four days and enjoyed a “Ryder Cup” and “Solheim Cup” competition – both, surprisingly, ‘honourable halves’! The evening
social events were largely popular and successful and the week culminated in a Centenary Ball at the Brangwyn Hall attended by 440 with a waiting list eager to join the celebrations. The visit of Prince Andrew to the club in November was an event the whole club should be proud of. HRH thoroughly enjoyed his visit, mixing socially with many members and thoroughly enjoying the good food provided by our ever efficient stewardess, Ann.

Course Tour Hole 1: Opens with a tricky Par 3 measuring 194 yards off the yellow tees, guarded by 2 bunkers, named “Bridge too far�. Hole 2: A par 5 measuring 475 yards. This par 5 asks you to position your ball for your second shot leaving a clear angle in to the well-guarded green.
Hole 3: A par 4 measuring 264 yards off the yellow tees. This hole has a slightly elevated tee, with OB down the left and some very well positioned bunkers guarding the green.
Hole 5: A par 4 from an elevated tee. OB down the left with the fairway angling from left to right. This hole has a tight entrance to the green well-guarded by bunkers.
Hole 4: A par 4 measuring 254 yards. A wellpositioned iron off the tee will enable you to miss the bunkers and allow for a full shot to the green, which if not hit far enough, will roll back to your feet.
Hole 6: A long par 4 dog leg measuring 420 yards. Stroke index 1, this hole will test your long iron skills as you approach the green. A par on this hole is always pleasing.

...Course Tour Hole 7: A par 4 hitting out to sea. Measuring 454 yards, stroke index 3, this hole is a good test, to a green that warrants a high second shot or a well thought out approach.
Hole 9: Par 4 named Caswell Drive. This hole runs parallel to the coast line with views over Caswell Bay. A well-positioned Tee shot offers a good approach to this green surrounded by bunkers.
Hole 11: A par 3 measuring 147 yards. A slightly elevated tee allows you to see all the hazards that await with a drop off over the back of the green. Club selection is essential.
Hole 8: A par 4 measuring 342 yards. Often referred to by Peter Alliss and other sport commentators with its dramatic views and tee locations.
Hole 10: A par 4 measuring 433 yards. A slight dog leg right, this hole is a good test for a well-positioned tee shot and an approach to a well-guarded green.
Hole 12: A dog leg left par 4 measuring 391 yards. Named “The Elbow” this tee shot has to be positioned perfectly to have a view into the green which has a slope to the left and bunkers right and left. An approach shot aimed to the right-hand bank leaves a “members bounce” to the pin.

Hole 13: A par 3 measuring 147 yards. This is a deceptive distance, where the bunkers do not become visible until you walk to the green. 3 well positioned bunkers demand the golfer takes enough club. Hole 14: A dog left right par 4 measuring 304 yards. With OB left and beyond the dog leg, this par 4 encourages a short iron off the tee to leave a well-positioned approach shot to the slightly elevated green guarded by bunkers. Hole 15: A par 5 with OB down the left. A good Tee shot allows you to possibly go for the green in 2, missing the fairway bunkers to a sizable green. Hole 16: Our signature hole. A par 3 named “Death or Glory�, this 142 yard hole, has been known to wreck many a golfers score card. Aiming right of the green and using the contours will be advantageous. Hole 17: A par 4 with a high elevated tee hitting down to Langland Bay. This par 4 measures 403 yards and demands an accurate second shot to navigate the bunkers to the green. Hole 18: A par 4 to finish. With a tee shot slightly up hill, this hole demands a committed second shot to hit over the water that encroaches on the left-hand side and to miss the bunkers on the right. A 3-tier green leaves a grandstand finish in front of the clubhouse.

...Custom Fitting Here is what we will go through with you during a personal golf club custom fitting session at Langland Bay Golf Club: • Consultation: Discussion with the pro to allow them to get a better understanding of your game and future golfing goals. • Assessment: Assess the current clubs that you are using and take any necessary body measurements to help guide the process.
• Model Selection: Based on the data captured so far, the pro will discuss the most suitable models and shafts for your game and narrow down the options based on your preferences for looks and feel. • Testing: The pro will now capture data as you hit each of the suggested clubs, helping them to dial in the best specifications for your game (in terms of loft, lie, shaft flex, models, weight settings etc.), whilst also discussing which ones you prefer. • Gapping: This an important part of any fitting to ensure that you are able to

How To Find & Contact Us Exit M4 at junction 42,43 or 47. Follow directions to Swansea City Centre, then to Mumbles which is 5 miles from Swansea City Centre. Turn right at White Rose Pub into Newton Road then 4th left at church into Langland Road. At bollards follow directions to Langland Bay. Keep Car parks to your left, the approach road to the golf course is at the junction of Brynfield road.
