Chesil Sailability provides opportunities for people with disabilities to sail, either for fun, to learn to sail, or to progress to sailing competitively. Sailing gives people the opportunity to take part in a healthy, sociable and outdoor activity, and provides a freedom on the water regardless of any disability.

Chesil Sailability provides sailing for people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and long term health conditions. The Chesil Sailability team are also passionate about enabling people to progress and take their sailing as far as they want.

They have a small fleet of Hansa 303 accessible dinghies, Hawk 20 day keelboats and support safety RIBs. They run regular sessions on Tuesday evenings, and also support some sailors who race on the Hansa class circuit.

The excellent accessible facilities at the Sailing Academy also enable Chesil Sailability to be involved in national level events, for example, supporting Help for Heroes, RYA Sailability and the Sailing Academy in running Invictus Games sailing events. Inspired by the 2012 Paralympics, Chesil Sailability was set up in 2013, and is entirely volunteer run. They operate from a small base at the Sailing Academy, and people come from across Dorset to sail. Chesil Sailability is a registered charity (Charity no 1154416), and is affiliated to the national RYA Sailability programme.
