I have learnt not to sleep believing in what I was doing click after every click I have learnt to sintetyze but not to simplify, considering pure marketing the worst enemy of a good project. I have learnt not to have prejudice and always reconsidere my process, my choices, my belief. I have understood that the crisis needs to think about faster and chea per way of making architecture, and I believe that dif ferent disciplines and approaches could help us in making spaces and cities. I have considered alwa ys as the centre of m y design life. People walking, eating, buying, thinking, looking at. I tried to design with activities, processes, moods, atmospheres, always tr ying to consider how to bring life, how to enhance life. As with cooking I think the best solutions comes with the lighest ingredientsI still have to learn a lot. I hope I can be in your team.

NULLA CUBE

for a space of disconnection

2012 w i t h B og d a n S t o i a n ov i c , R i c c a rd o Pa l m i e r i

RECEIPT Around half of the population in the OECD countries today lives in urban areas. Modern life in modern cities is dynamic, fast paced and constantly changing but also hectic, stressful with almost no physical and mental room to pause, relax and reflect. At the same time information technology and mobile devices create a pervasive and invisible net impossible to escape and whose consequences on our bodies and cognitions are still not fully understood. Nulla Cube provides an easy-to-access escape from modern city life. Nulla Cube is a small (3x3m) cubic structure set up in public spaces (event areas, open spaces, train stations, airports). Once a user enters the Cube, he is isolated from the electromagnetic field that nowadays surround us and any other external visual and audio stimulations. The Cube hosts a maximum of five people. Each person has a place to seat. The lighting system and the temperature work in conjunction to create a metaphysical atmosphere. The walls are made out of three layers of white plexiglass. The gap between the first and second layer contains salt water to insulate from electro-magnetic and audio signals. Heating and light ing are mounte d b etwe en t he s e cond and a t hird, slig ht ly p er for ate d l ayer. The Cube is entirely made out of prefabricated, 3D-printed elements making it easy to manufacture, setup, dismantle and transport. Blueprints, assembling and manufacturing guidelines are provided on our website in full open-source tradition to anybody who wants to implement and expand Nulla Cube. -

URBAN SCENARIO

project of a partecipatory application Milan, Italy 04/2010-07/2010 B a ch e l o r Th e s i s , C o rs o d i L a u re i n S c i e n z e d e l l ’ A rch i t e t t u ra , Politecnico di Milano Prof Camilla Casonato

RECEIPT This project consists in an application, that has been shown during partecipatory table in Milan, that let people ask themselves what desires they have for their cities. The application starts from an image, that represents an area which is going to change in the future. The image can be then modified thanks to six parameters that affect buildings, public spaces, and people. Those are, in my opinion major elements, in the determination of the character of a place. Pe ople have to ma ke a choice among t hre e s c a les of intensity for e ach p ar ameter, whose effect are immediatly shown in the picture, The final result is the representation, easy to understand, of how people would like to perceive their city in the future. The application is a huge resource even in leading a discussion about weakness and possibility of each place, and let a deeper understandment both from planners and citizens.

THE LIVING SCHOOL: My concept is to create a interactive structure, where the building reacts to the environment and children, creating an always changing building. The idea is to build a greenhouse on the top of the existing structure. Each unit had a greenhouse: a free to move space with vegetation. The roof collects water and shows with pipeline how it could be reused. The electric system is visible with photovoltaic panels. The facade is provided with a automatic system to open it. The structere and the pipeline are totally visible The school is divided into three sections. In each section there are the four classes (1-2-3-4), that are organizaed in thematic rooms. The underground was necessary to allow passages and shortcuts coming from everyside of the complex so that this close courtyard is very permeable.
